Venus Doom and Demos on vinyl
« on: March 16, 2017, 07:28:44 AM »
Some time ago I made three custom copies of Venus Doom and the 1993/95 demos on vinyl - one set for myself and two for friends. Unfortunately, one of them couldn't pay, so one of the sets is up for sale. Anyone interested? Music has been mastered for vinyl, there are custom covers and labels. Photos available upon request. Let me know!

Now that it's sold can you (or the buyer) post pics of everything? I'm just still curious what everything looks like without having to give anyone my email.

Here are photos of VD. The cover isn't glued together, but otherwise it's ready.

That actually looks really nice. Hopefully someday we get a remastered version on vinyl.

I still don't understand why they didn't just release it that way to begin with, though. Coming off of the success of Dark Light, which did get pressed onto vinyl, there had to be some reason why the record company decided against doing a vinyl version for VD. The vinyl craze hadn't really kicked in full force yet back then, but since Dark Light got a vinyl that explanation doesn't really hold up. Maybe the Dark Light vinyl didn't sell very well?
I don't even remember much about it since I wasn't interested at all in vinyl back then. All I know is that people charge an arm and a leg for a copy now. And especially with as much as they loved making all sorts of different versions of albums and singles for us to buy, it remains a mystery why they didn't do at least a limited edition pressing. Also the fact that VD's construction was inspired by older albums from the original vinyl era, it was pretty much the perfect album to do a vinyl for. Have they ever given us an answer to that?

True, it's really weird. I remember there were pre-orders for the vinyl version all over the place, but then they were all cancelled and no records were ever dispatched. I never came across a proper explanation, but if there is one, I sure would like to hear it. I suppose there's little hope to get an official vinyl now that the band is gone.

Yeah, it sucks that we'll probably never get a second box set. All of the unreleased stuff from the last four albums will probably never see the light of day. I don't know if us fans can ever get ahold of any of the demos from those albums.
