HIM is OVER
« on: March 05, 2017, 03:00:27 PM »
I never wanted to have to make this topic, but I think we all knew it was inevitable in recent years...

"HIM ANNOUNCE FAREWELL TOUR
LOVE METAL LEGENDS HIT THE ROAD FOR THE LAST TIME THIS YEAR
Following a long radio silence, Finnish rock giants HIM have announced a farewell tour, closing the final chapter on their 26 year career.
"After quarter of a century of Love and Metal intertwined we sincerely feel HIM has run its unnatural course and adieus must be said in order to make way for sights, scents and sounds yet unexplored. We completed the pattern, solved the puzzle and turned the key. Thank you." Says frontman Ville Valo
Formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström and bassist Mikko "Migé" Paananen, HIM truly stand out as one of the rock world’s most unique acts. Beautifully blending metal, goth and hard rock with deep, thoughtful and moving lyrics, HIM offered the world a new take on the metal genre, which became known as Love Metal (also the title of their fourth album).
Over the course of eight studio albums, HIM captured the hearts and minds of fans across the globe, drawn by their irresistible and inimitable style. Under the banner of their Heartagram logo – a potent symbol encapsulating the juxtaposition of the light and dark, the fierce and forlorn, and the evil and love found in their music - HIM filled venues and crashed charts the world over, collecting numerous awards, gracing countless magazine covers and becoming the first Finnish act to achieve Gold status in the USA.
Now, four years after the release of their last studio album ‘Tears On Tape’, HIM are saying farewell, taking in 14 countries across 35 shows for their final goodbye.
"At the end of 2017 we will be released into the wild.” Says bassist Mige. “Before this event of great transformation we would love to offer you one last chance to experience our live performances in His Majesty's service. It shall not be a weepfest but a celebration of love metal in all its lovecraftian glory! See you there!"
Ville Valo (voc)
Mige (bass)
Linde (gtr)
Burton (kb)
Kosmo (dr)

I need time to realize this.... but
its not over for sure.... new projects to follow soon and I bet in the next 5-7 years they will resurrect HIM again.

In moments of absolute sadness, I knew I could come back here to vent.    I'm sad right now, but I know the weight of this still hasn't fully hit me.   I had a feeling something like this was on the horizon. The band has always been really shitty at social media and news. But I was hoping the silence was them just collecting themselves, finding  a good groove with Kosmo, and then going back into the studio. I thought they were going to have at least 1 more album in them.   Total balls

Fuck...
Still surprised by this official break-up/farewell. Somehow, I expected a silence fade out. Like the last years; no records, some side-projects, no social media, nor touring. But this last year I had good hope: new festival dates, new drummer, Ville appeared again the last months.
It is also sad they don?t mention a new album.

I guess, on the upside, we might get some unreleased stuff out of them?

I would've wanted even one more album. Honestly I had a feeling that HIM would announce this during the next years. But thank god, they'll still do the remaining gigs with even more dates announced.

I have zero shame in admitting that I've teared. They've been 1 of my 2 favourite bands since 2001ish. I'm gutted, although I've had a slight feeling the band was edging toward this decision for a while, but I still told myself otherwise.

Now I'm focused on getting some UK tickets. I'll shed blood if I need to.

Its a sad day today, was hoping for a new album.

At least its a mutual break up and not some massive fallout, I reckon we will get some unreleased music, and in a few years they will have a reunion tour.

that feeling when "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT" is on the Dan Carter, after SO FUCKING LONG time of SILENCE, NOTHING, i finally was like "yeah they are announcing the new album, finally" ......filled with hope, excitement when i saw this, my heart completely broke. I cried like a 6 years old girl. Well one of the worst days of my life, for sure. Now the priority is to get the tickets for the Prague show and no matter what the setlist will be i will fucking cry on the gig like a girl again. My throat is still blocked, tears coming to my eyes and the real wave of sadness and hopelessness is yet to come.
my life will never be the same

and yep here it comes, i started to cry again while writing this.

I'm pretty sure that they will be playing "One Last Time" live. I know this isn't the perfect time to be joking, but this is what happened after they signed to "END" records...

Really sad about this news. The only good thing out of this is the gig in Porto after 13 years, and hopefully some new unreleased stuff, either from the band or from some folks around the world!

I just got a DM from Lenny. I feared that someone had died.

I'm happy to know that they're alive and well but super sad that the bad itself is dead.  I'm not sure what to think at the moment. I hope they find a groove on this tour and have a change of heart, but I somehow doubt that.

They're a huge part of my life. I can still listen to certain songs and be taken back to the time I first heard it and what was going on at that time. I can also remember the feelings I had while listening.

Fuck. I'm bummed man. I'll definitely be seeing you guys at the show!

What horrible news to end the weekend with.

It's something I never thought would happen but it's just all off a sudden happened and that's it. Ville at the Emma awards was so cheery and said about new album. Upsetting to think no more interviews, no albums, tours.. this is what keeps us going haha. Other bands bore me to death, guess I'll have to take up a new hobby. Honestly thought it would be an announcement for new album but holy hell...

What a knife to the fucking gut, man. No American stops scheduled, either means I'll never get to see them live. This is so hard to wrap my head around. I never expected this, not this year when they've been teasing at a new album for so long. Ughhhhhh fuck this
