Haha, how cool is it that you get topic 666 and it's for our good friend Billy Light.

Just for reference, in case someone didn't know.

I just might be the only one that didn't really dig the performance. Go figure. ;D That style isn't something I'm particularly fond of. I was hoping for something a lot more uptempo than that. Unless this side-project is strictly a covers only thing, I would've liked for him to have played a song or two of his own written material for the sake of getting some new lyrics to memorize/analyze/jerk off to/laugh at/whatever. I wonder how many women in the audience had to buy a new pair of panties after he was done, though. Anyone know if they were selling any at the merchandise booth? That might've been a good idea for last night to make some more cash. Daniel Lioneye tonight is way more my speed. Can't wait to see some videos from that.

'Tis true. Those panties would be a rather sound investment. I'll vouch for it. Male or female the fact that Linde does indeed possess a voice should also be enough to give you nipples that would cut through glass.  ;)

I wish he hadn't used so much reverb.  Or maybe it's just the quality of the recording.  I dig this though...hopefully there's more to come.

Too much Tremolo out of that little Gibson Skylark!

I really like both of these songs a lot.  It is better to listen to the Sabbath and Tim Buckley versions then look at the lyrics while you listen.  I hope there will be a Rambo Rimbaud album coming out.  I like it cuz Linde got his two Daniel Lioneye albums.
I do like Song To The Siren a bit more.

Its weird cuz the Sabbath version sounds nothing like the usual Ozzy.   Billy always makes covers that sound better than the original.

I like Billy's version of Song to the siren even more than John Frusciante's version (from The Empyrean album), so thats a huge plus, altough i never liked the original version of this song. Billy made it listenable to me so thats cool

i am not excited about this at all.

i cant help it, but this entire Rambo Rimbaud ridiculous shit looks like a midlife crisis for me. Talented song writer, that wrote tons of amazing excellent songs, that were never played live or rarely (by HIM of course) is playing covers under the ridiculously named project called Rambo Rimbaud with overly reverbed guitars and vocals.

It Ville wants to do something useful this is how i imagine it:
1. get the new drummer for HIM
2. practice with this drummer and get used to him with all the band members, the chemistry inside of the band is important , they need to catch it
3. write some OWN songs, dont perform covers
4. perform HIM songs on acoustic as a solo performance - i will pay 100 for a CD with only acoustic versions of few HIM gems like - Resurrection, Love Without Tears, And Love Said No, ...... he can play whatever HIM song on acoustic and it will be 100000000000 time better than any other cover song

I couldn't disagree more. It's asinine to think that Ville can't/shouldn't do anything on his own. Just stop, take a deep breath, and think for a moment... this is only ONE show and last time I checked there are 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. There's absolutely nothing to say he is completely ignoring HIM as a band. I don't hear complaining about Linde and the Daniel Lioneye project.

I have to agree with Inferno here.

And besides that it's still his decision, let the man do what he wants to do. You can't force them to find a new drummer or write new songs. So if he does this on his own, that's fine. Let's see what he'll play there and hope he's drawing some inspiration for awesome new HIM songs we all can get crazy about.

i didnt say he is ignoring HIM, but we need more info, more light to the situation

and if you look closely on what he said......, he didnt say for 100% sure that HIM will continue. it was just an avoiding answer, he just left it open. What will happen? Who knows? According to the speech at Helldone and Gas departure i cant get the current HIM status and what will bring the future is totally in the stars.

I dont think this is a one show only in 24 hours of a day in 365 days in a year, he is preparing Rambo Rimbaud album, we know that everything takes a bit longer to Ville as he wants everything to be top notch perfect. And we have no informations at all about HIM, no website, nothing, so why should i believe that he is not ignoring HIM when nothing indicates it? I am just basing my fears on the stuff that was said. Dreams and wishes aside.

I dont say Ville cant do anything on his own, but according to the facts that were said and happened :
-they have a pause - hiatus
-they are not writing songs, touring, practicing
-they have no drummer
-they only said "MAYBE" they will return in 2016
... i was expecting some HIM related activities and news from Ville.

I know and i understand that you all are excited because of this solo project, but from what i have read, it looks like it is a cover project. This is why i am not so excited and more frustrated. If the situation was clear and they got a new drummer, i would be looking forward for whatever, but HIM > Daniel Lioneye > Rambo Rimbaud

if they are not sure whether to break up as a band or continue, they should have told us that they are unsure and we better dont expect anything. Because we were just left alone unsure and insecure here with nothing related to HIM. When things wont go well, we all will be just pissed after year or more that they are not doing shit or if they will split up.
If they said that dont expect anything, and after a year if they came back , everyone would be so happy and excited.

this situation is frustrating and some Rambo Rimbaud is not easing my worried mind

well ... they said that the new HIM album will come in the end of 2016....
also they said that they were planing to rest 2015 before they knew GAs will left...
Ville said that after Helldone he will take the acoustic guitar and start working on new stuff.....
and Ville solo project is something that we were waiting for more then 10 years...he was always saying "its not the right time" or 'one day may be"...

Ville is not our slave... so words like " get the fucking guitar and start doing new music" or "give us all the demos you have" hmmm...  ???

The hiatus was planned before Gas even left.
I'm sure Ville will work on material during the break... That's one of the reasons for it.
You can't expect them to find a drummer so quickly.
That 'Maybe' doesn't mean no or that there's a chance we will never see them again... It's like you said, they have no drummer, and things take time.
Ville isn't in charge of the website or anything like that so blame the lable, not him.

yeah you guys have a good point and i kinda feel more OK
i was just worried because before ToT they were on the edge becase of Gas injury and they didnt know if they will continue without him, now he has left the band so i am automatically in that that its unsure and these side activities are not much to enjoy when the future of our favorite band is unsure, in the stars.

Alex you have a good point that i skipped - we have been really wanting and waiting for the solo album of Ville. myself included, i wanted it. But its still more like Rambo Rimbaud = cover project. From the latest interview it sounds like it was a cover project:

here is the translation from the article from QStock 2015 webpage:

Rambo Rimbaud: "Rautavaara and psychedelia"

Rambo Rimbaud roots go back to ten years ago. It was born in the hotel rooms, which Ville Valo had fled HIM tours constant uproar and noise. Over the years, he had noticed a desire to think about certain things new, to approach the music from another angle. Rimbaud Rambo is a journey into the heart of silence. Treasury and foreign songs using Ville finds his way sensitivity and melancholy to the source.

"The music is, however, basically just the same, because no leopard can change his spots them. Gloomy love songs, therefore, but this time volanappi is twisted down. "

However, Rambo Rimbaud hard sensitivity. At times, overwhelming music with Rambo poets Rimbaud hit with bullets and words. This is not a project, and it is not even clever pseudonym Ville Valo pursue a solo career. Sure, Rambo Rimbaud, William's alter ego, but in his head, it is a band. The band whose one and only he is a member. A great way to get close to things without the ego-self can be reached between the song and the truth.

"The difference is mainly in the way the songs are approaching. Rockissahan all beaten the towel immediately out of the box, this again is revealed little by little. Rimbaud Rambo is in this sense as Marlene Dietrich and HIM, I do not know, maybe Jenna Jameson! Hah-hah! "

In all honesty I love what I've heard so far. Cover or not, the music is extremely relaxing and cathartic. It completely blows the original songs away IMO and while you may be right about the reverb, you have to remember that it is just a man and a guitar... nothing else. I see it as a way of creating an atmosphere for the guitar and vocals to thrive in. I can only imagine what a studio recording would sound like  8)

Interesting.

Actually, the first Ville Valo solo project were an early and acoustic version of some "Dark Light" songs. If "Rambo Rimbaud" is not a "cover project" only, we can have some "anticipated" new HIM songs.

maybe thats it
according to the text "RAMBO RIMBAUD's official description, courtesy of Helldone: "This mysterious act from 'somewhere behind God's back' has until now kept the lowest of low profiles. The few who managed to catch a glimpse of RAMBO RIMBAUD's live appearances under various monikers in the mid noughties confess in unison that they had been blown away. 'It's hard to put a finger on the music, other than it being out of this world, emotional and very powerful. I actually remember wondering where they have disappeared!' After these humble beginnings, a series of unfortunate events brought about a forced hiatus of almost ten years, but now RAMBO RIMBAUD is finally working on its debut album, tentatively entitled 'Militantly Violent Libertine'."

that makes sense Luis, DL was released almost 10 years ago
that text is from 2014

what if "a series of unfortunate events" = Warner/Sire  ? who knows the contract conditions and stuff? uhm

Maybe the "unfortunate events" is that the band gained some popularity in America and they had to start touring here, haha.

I do remember the acoustic Under the Rose from the "dildo party", so this could go one of two ways: Either Ville really enjoys doing his own thing and continues to do it, or it's fun and he becomes rejuvenated and he misses his friends, so the band comes back with some good shit next year.

Of course, the band would probably be less burnt out if they didn't play the same 12 songs every fucking night of every fucking tour. :)

I remember that it was planned to be released before the "new album" (Dark Light)... It was published in early 2005 on some websites and that's the reason of the rumours of the Ville's solo career.

According to some article on early 2005, the solo effort was inspired by "country" music and "Bittersweet". During a live appearance, Ville played the songs "Under the Rose", "Face of God" and "Have no Fear", songs that was included on this project according to the article.

Nowadays... Someone else remember the "Finnvox Sessions" of Dark Light? Yes... These were not "HIM's Demos", were "Ville Valo's demos".

Quote
VILLE VALO Demos 2004 (October 1st, 2004 at Finnvox Studios):

1. The Face Of Gods
2. Under The Rose
3. ?
4. Venus
5. No More
6. Drunk On Shadows
7. Have No Fear (Extended)

...

If Rambo Rimbaud is the same project from 10 years ago, it will be really interesting.

More or less related to this topic: It was just confirmed some minutes ago that HIM will play here in Hungary on a summer festival called FEZEN. Things are getting interesting here. I'm wondering if they introduce a new drummer or will do shows with session drummer. Anyway, good news, right? :) So looks like besides the solo project HIM is not going to be ignored.
