** Bat when we with caatlon a secret disclose,
We err, * be It spoken,' sir, ' under the rose.*
Since His known that the rose was an emblem of old,
Whose leaves by their closeness taught secrets to hold;
And 'twas thence it was painted on tables so oft
As a waminff, lest, when with a Arankness men scoft
At their neighbor, their lord, their (ht priest, or their nation,
Some among 'em next day should betray conversation."

—BHtUh Apollo, 1708.

The origin of the phrase, " under the rose,' implies secrecy, and
had its origin during the year B. C. 477, at which time Pausanias, the
commander of the confederate fleet of the Spartans and Athenians, was
in an intrigue with Xerxes for the subjugation of Greece to the Per-
sian rule^ and for the hand of the monarch's daughter in marriage.
Their negotiations were carried on in a building attached to the tem-
ple of Minerva, called the Brazen House, the roof of which was a
garden forming a bower of roses ; so that the plot, which was conduct-
ed with the utmost secrecy, was literally matured under the rose. Pau-
sainas, however, was betrayed by one of his emissaries, who^ by a pre-
concerted plan with the spliori (the overseers and counselors of
state, five in number), gave them a secret opportunity to hear from
the lips of Pausanias himself the acknowledgment of his treason. To
escape arrest, he fled to the temple of Minerva, and, as the sanctity
of the place forbade intrusion for violence or harm of any kind, the
people walled up the edifice with stones and left him to die of starva-
tion. His own mother laid the first stone. It afterwards became a
custom among the Athenians to wear roses in their hair whenever they
wished to communicate to another a secret they wished to be kept in-
violate. Hence, the saying sub rosa among them, and since among
Christian nations. J. H. W. Schmidt, Ansonia, O.

My heartagram edit. Photobucket didn't want to let me make it my profile pic so I shall post it instead. Not a perfect circle but that is to be expected with a free editing program.

Before and after photos in my editing process. I had to get rid of some of that sex hair look sadly. Ville's hair is often too close to the color of things in the background which makes editing him out difficult so some of it had to go.

This was my very first edit I did with the program a long time ago. A bit rough but I love it. <3

Early edits done just after the one of Ville with the planets.

You may ask what a "Strata Gate" is. It is part guitar reference and part inside joke with myself. I thought that if someone asked me I would tell them, "A Strata Gate is what you have to go through to go knock on heaven's door."

Somebody else had already shopped the tortoise. I just decided I had wanted to put it in mine and borrowed it.

This is a poem I wrote when I was 14. Nothing HIM related but I tend to post whatever I feel like in this thread I made anyways. Feel free to comment your opinion on it.

Thus flows a river of darkness,
Through a valley of woe,
As a heart was broke to pieces,
Because he let her go.
She rode tendrils of freedom,
High up into the sky,
Way up out of the atmosphere,
She left him there to die.
A valued independence,
That shattered his blissed love,
To her a luminescence,
Unchained she soars above.
She was his beating heart,
He was a bleeding in her brain,
To him she was the missing part,
To her he was a chain.
They say that love is blind,
He somehow could see through,
Only freedom could bring her happiness,
He knew it to be true.
That's why he let her go,
And ripped out his own heart,
To grant her needed happiness,
By tearing his apart.

Good to see some photoshop talents here.  When it comes to make a new layout theme for the forum, I know who to turn to :)

Another one of my 'better late than never' moments:

I used to listen to Tears On Tape only while showering (which takes ages for me, mostly because of my hair) so it didn't really get through to me. But I recently changed my shower music to DSABH and now I noticed how great the album is. I really like how Ville's voice sounds on it, it's... softer?
That said, I've always loved his voice. Should he ever need a break from making music, he totally should record audiobooks. That would be so perfect.

If anyone's interested: RR is perfect for showering, VD and SW are best for cooking, as is Uneasy Listening Vol. 2, DL for singing along during car rides, and DSABH, BIB, and TOT for reading. If you manage not to get distracted from reading because of too good music that is^^
I may be biased concerning DL though, it was the first album I had and I spent the first days listening to it driving around visiting friends and annoying them with singing Under The Rose the whole time :D

Jay: I didn't use Photoshop. I used a (free) editing program called Pixlr. It really only does very basic edits. It has way less tools and capabilities compared to a legit thing like Photoshop. But if you spend a lot of time on it you can make some pretty cool stuff.

Kaysa: If Ville recorded audiobooks I don't think anybody would actually pay attention to the story lol They would just zone out to his voice. One time I listened to Rendezvous with Anus from Uneasy Listening Vol. 2 right before I did some volunteer hours at a thrift store. I had it stuck in my head so was trying to sing it underneath my breath while sorting books and clothes. As for Dark Light at the time I wrote the poem I posted up above I only knew three HIM songs, WOAB, Under the Rose, and Behind the Crimson Door. No The Funeral of Hearts though which I think is kind of funny because I find it to be -esque of the vibe of that song. I was listening to those three songs, Creed, and Nine Inch Nails during the phase of most of my poetry at the time. Well not at exactly the same time because I can only write with silence.

GIMP is a great free image manipulation programm as well. I'm just not creative enough to do a lot with it...

WOAB was one of the first HIM songs for me as well. That and The Kiss of Dawn I actually listened to, Killing Loneliness and Heartkiller I usually skipped because those were too painfully beautiful. Wow, that sounds incredibly stupid.
As for The Funeral of Hearts: My (ex-)girlfriend got upset on a regular basis for me not knowing it for three years. (We used to sing together with her playing guitar but obviously we had to both know the songs.) I'm pretty sure I know it better then her now :D

Diet is hard. Especially for my fatty American self. It causes you to think about food even more than you did before. You can really tell when....

"Kill me, I cried and love said no."

                becomes

"Grill meat, with fries and large soda to go."  :P

I feel you. When I wasn't allowed to eat for a day I saw all the food ads. Everywhere. And that was just one day.
Dieting must be so much harder : (

I am a major foodie. I just love everything about it. If I could I would love to be one of those people who just goes around trying foods of all kinds and doing food challenges. And post pictures of all of it. I don't watch regular broadcast television only streaming so I don't see nearly the amount of food ads other people do but I dream about it in my sleep. And I can't stop myself from watching food related anime or playing food service games online even though they make me hungry. Cutting it all out completely would just cause me so much despair. Like if you were to tell me I couldn't listen to HIM anymore or log on here. Just too much.

Feeling seasonal. The pic with the lyric from Into The Night I only added the text to, no photo edit. The other one only added a border and an overlay plus the text, also no actual photo edit.

The colors in the first photo are really nice! And Under The Rose will forever have a special place in my heart as the first HIM-song I fell in love with, and instantly.

About two weeks ago, on the second day that was really fall, I was sitting in a bus, driving home from town to the middle of nowhere, and even if it wasn't exactly late, it was already pretty dark, rainy, all the lights in the streets were on, really calm. I listened to Tears On Tape and the album has never been so, so fitting. It was perfect.

So, seasonal feelings on the other side of the ocean, too :)

For you, Kaysa. I took what you said up above and messed up the text a little bit. I know it means something a bit different now but it was still inspired by what you said.

Oh my god, thank you SO MUCH!!
You literally made me speechless. That's so nice of you! Have a hug (if you're comfortable with hugs, that is) <3
You're the second person I ever managed to inspire to anything, I think. I feel honoured *blushing intensifies*
