Make your own HIM - GREATEST HITS tracklist
« on: April 27, 2015, 07:17:09 AM »
Well this is indeed repetitive topic but its been pretty dead lately on the forum so i thought it would be nice to start posting againg , huh?

I was making some compilation for myself to have the songs that i play on guitar so i dont have to switch the CD's in the player
and that led me to this idea

I would like to see everyone's Greatest hits, its up to you (ANYTHING can be on it, not only Album versions). The most of the Greatest hits albums are made of the singles and most known songs that were huge because of the radio ratings and based on how many times the song was played on the radio or so. Forget that you will make a tracklist of the most known songs. Not always the most known songs are the best. For someone the "album filler" songs are far better than singles. Imagine that you wanna get as much new fans as possible and you wanna show them the best of the band. What would that be?

My would be like this:
1. I love you (White House version)
2. Shatter Me With Hope
3. And Love Said No
4. It's All Tears (UK edition ALSN version)
5. Resurrection (Slippery When Dead demo)
6. The Beginning of the end
7. Join Me (Slippery When Dead demo)
8. The Sacrament
9. Vampire Heart
10. The 9th Circle
11. Sleepwalking Past Hope
12. Pretending (TRSFRMTN version)
13. Razorblade Kiss
14. Heartache Every Moment
15. When Love And Death Embrace (radio edit version)
16. The Funeral of Hearts
17. Sigillum Diaboli
18. Venus (In Our Blood)
19. The Phantom Gate
20. W.L.S.T.D.

uff thats it, took me a while to get it done. It was harder than i first thought. But if i wanted to show someone the best of HIM to make him having the best possible image of the band and love tham (not only know and like them) i would go with that tracklist.
It was hard because i wanted to take every album and stuff i know. i could not skip few songs that are literally impressive and fucking awesome even though they are overplayed like (Funeral, WLADE, JOIN ME).
I was not sure with the Phantom Gate but hey its like hundred times better than Your Sweet 666 (which i wanted to add instead of it) so why not? And the same with "Into the night" - i know this is not the most favorite song and its better than W.L.S.T.D. but i chosed WLSTD because its more "HIM" song than Into the night and the sound is more "HIM"-like, you know what i mean?

come on guys, lets live this forum up a little bit

Well here's my attempt I can tell as I write this its going to take me a while. I'm into my 9th year as a HIM fan so things have changed over the years but as it stands now this would be it for me.

1.When Love And Death Embrace
2.Death Is In Love With Us
3.Ressurection
4.Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart
5.Please Don't Let It Go
6.Pretending
7.The Sacrament
8.Sweet Pandemonium
9.And Love Said No
10.In The Nightside of Eden
11.Sleepwaking Past Hope
12.Bleed Well
13.Passions Killing Floor
14.Acoustic Funeral
15.Scared to Death
16.Disarm Me With Your Loneliness
17.Heartkiller
18.In Venere Veritas
19.Join Me In Death(SWD Demo)
20.This Fortress Of Tears(Finnvox Demo 2002)

With a fair bit of difficulty I've managed to limit Screamworks tracks to 5.Screamworks to me atleast is faultless the lyrics and music just intertwine perfectly, I understand it's not for every HIM fan by to me it really cannot get any better than that.

I've picked some songs from each album, some albums are featured more heavily but it would be my perfect compilation and the songs I would play to try and introduce someone to HIM.I'm going to be interested to see how different or similar all our picks are.

yeah they have really great songs, altough i hate few and i think these are mistakes but i cant change it

@Until_Love_Do_Us_Part you really surprised me with Dont Close Your Heart and Dark Light songs, these are not very much liked among the fans, i think Dont close your heart is a filler song and Dark Light is really underrated song in my opinion, good pick ups
its nice to see how everyone have in few songs exactly the same taste and the rest is so individual, thats awesome
Dark Light and Dont Close your Heart were the last songs i was expecting in someones list

cool

I feel like at the time it was made that Live at the Orpheum Theatre had a perfect set list. The selections just run so smoothly together both visually and sonically. And there are some unique things in each song. If right now I had to represent HIM I think I would just hand someone that DVD. It obviously would have no songs from Screamworks or Tears On Tape but those are a bit more obscure anyways.

I used to absolutely HATE the Darklight tracks, but the sort of grew on me after a coupe years... DSABH has always been my favorite album. I am actually surprised that I completely left out ANY tracks from Tears on Tape. I would have to have Drawn & Quartered on there somewhere.

And as far as my selections being not popular amongst the fans, I can chalk that up to the fact that I've always had a soft-spot for their more melodic material.

I think currently I would alter my list to the following. I would trade Sleepwalking Past Hope for Cyanide Sun. Disarm Me (With Your Loneliness) and Again would be switched with In the Arms of Rain and Shatter Me With Hope.

In the Arms of Rain is my favorite Screamworks song so I am not sure why I didn't pick it at the time.
