Help me to choose a digital camera!
« on: January 31, 2013, 01:57:28 PM »
Summer festivals are coming and I'm planing to visit some of them. So I need from a nice and powerful weapon :P
The problem is that i'm not very good in this technology because till now i didnt care too much. And the other problem is that there are billions models with different specifications and prices. I know that most of them are identical but however i'm looking the best choice in price range 100-300$

So please help me find the best digital camera for recording HIM concert in FULL HD!  ;D

Must have:
Recording 1080p FULL HD
Recording good sound
And memory card for at least 1hour recording

any suggestions? ::)

now you can buy various SD and microSD cards with huge memory size, so i think it will record more than 1 hour of full HD video ....
what festival are you attending where HIM is going to perform?

btw check out some youtube videos from concerts, there are some really GREAT quality ones, you should PM the user and ask about his equipment :)

for example, this guy has really nice sound (and he is really close to the stage.... and indoor!) and video is in 1080p too,  check out

I recently bought a Sony WX150, and it's pretty nice. 16 MP, 1080p video, 6x optical zoom and its pocket sized. I got it for $150 on sale.
Come love me 'till it hurts, dance the neon noir with me.

Honestly this video made me start looking for a camera! I sent a msg to the owner and he replied:

I actually used my phone, Nokia Lumia 920.
  :o ::)

Its not announced yet but i believe they will play Rock am Ring this year. I\ll be in Germany for the summer so i'll be able see the band. If not Nova Rock festival is the other good option. My best mates live in Wien, Austria so i need just one call. :D Here in Bulgaria Rammstein will play on July so i\ll do my best to catch them too.

Thanks

Here is what i found as a good options
Sony - DSC-TX20 -
- 200$
Nikon Coolpix AW100 -
- 250$
Nikon - Coolpix S9300 -
- 200$
Nikon - Coolpix S100 -
- 130$ (Reg Price 300$)

It seems most of the cameras smoothing  the video while zooming... thats bad  :-\
All prices are from Bestbuy
Please Vote  ;)

at least look for some videos from live shows to see the video in dark condition and hear the audio in noisy environment

this is what i found
i couldn find any live video of that Sony dsc tx20
but here is sample from live show of Nikon Coolpix AW100  -
- i am impressed - while zooming in and out there is no affect on the audio, and it sounds quite OK

here is sample taken with Nikon - Coolpix S9300
- i dont like the audio

Nikon - Coolpix S100  - i could not find any live video taken with it

and that nokia lumia 920 is expensive as hell  :o

this is old Panasonic with only 720p   Panasonic DMC-TZ7

try look for newer version i like audio and video is good too, and it doesnt affect audio while zooming in and out so it is really huge +

Thanks guys!

I was going to add to the list Panasonic Lumix ZS20 (Embedding disabled, limit reached) as well.

And the other one i found in this thread in amazon.com called Best camera for concert video?

Sony DSC - HX 30V - Sample (Embedding disabled, limit reached)- under 300$

I'll not going too deep in this researching because i'm finding new and new models every min and its hard to choose but it seems that the last two are killer  models.
Honestly Nikon Coolpix AW100 and Nikon - Coolpix S9300 also look fantastic.  ::)

May be i'll stop on one of these 6 models. Now i have to start reading specification carefully. Maybe one of them could have option for an external mic recording in stereo :P
