Helldone Festival 2012

We might as well only have one topic to discuss and post setlists/pictures/videos/audio of the four nights of Helldone Festival. Night one tonight. I'm ready. Curious to see what the shirts they're selling look like.

There are a decent amount of videos from the gig on YouTube now. lf you wanna rip the audio from a YouTube video to post or just for yourself to listen to, I highly recommend http://www.listentoyoutube.com. It's simple, decently fast (depending on the length of the video) and the quality comes out great.

i dont know if anyone noticed, but Ville´s singing is really bad at the moment, i mean seriously.. if you´re not tone deaf you must hear how off key he is almost every song, i think it is beacause of the long hiatus they had and he wasn´t singing for a long time....  so i hope he will get into it as soon as possible

Yeah I noticed the same. He sings really bad and it's quite sad. Especially in Soul on Fire and BABL. Maybe he is ill or something because on the Live in Hel. EP vocals are really great I think.

Are you guys talking about the Helldone shows in particular, or are you including the Turku show as well? I just listened to Soul On Fire from Turku and I don't think Ville's voice sounds any different or worse than it has the last five years. He sounds like how I'm used to him sounding, and I am by no means tone deaf.

You guys gotta realize you're hearing unmixed live recordings from cell phones, half the time you can't hear Ville over the instruments anyways!

especially "i will be the end of you" is really off key even on Helldone recordings and Turku either
and it does not matter if it is unmastered, recorded on cellphone or camera, because you can clearly hear on every gig Ville has his microphone the way too low, maybe he is ill or cold or i dont know, but cell phones and camera has no effect on Villes singing, if it had everything would be off key (guitars). and there are many recordings older recorded on even worse cell phones and cameras and Ville sounds and sings fine
so ....

I honestly can't even tell the difference between his singing now and his singing in 2007, haha. His voice has certainly deteriorated throughout the years, but it seems to have hit a plateau around then and hasn't gotten any better or any worse since.

well the first gigs in 2007 - Give it a name festival were terrible :-D but now it seems like he is not just used to sing live yet after 2 and half year pause , i bet after few more gigs it will be all OK ,or maybe he had difficulties with microphone and sound options on stage...

The problem may be, even though I can't notice it myself, that he has actually been singing TOO much. Between recording the album and rehearsals, I'm sure it's taken a toll on him.

EDIT: Last night tonight! Got one new song, still holding out for another. Besides that, unfortunately, I haven't been impressed with the setlist. Sure, they threw a couple of songs back in the mix, but it's still pretty much the same old shit they were playing before their hiatus.

some people says that he told the press he is drinking again and i am sure he was drunk look and hear that terrible singing  5:33 he holds some bottle of beer i guess

I think to me it sounds like he came down with some laryngitis.  which happens a lot to singers when they are using their voice a lot and it's not being rested properly. recording, rehearsals for months and now live shows after a long break, seems like a plausible explanation.

He sounded fine at the Turku show on 12/26. I think it's the fact that he hasn't sung in a live setting in a long time and it got to him.

yeah that s what i thought too, he sounded quite fine in Turku, even sometimes he was off key but it is OK after that long break without performing live, but at Helldone he was drinking heavily and a lot of fans were dissapointed because they traveled from all over the Europe and he was drunk and sounded bad, and rumors say that he apologized via press , but if these informations are based on truth i dont know ...
29.12. was his worst performance (he was really drunk almost like an astronaut   ) you can clearly hear it how off key terrible he was      , maybe he was so happy that we survived the end of the world  so he was celebrating it a little bit more

im pretty sure he wasn't as bad as he was in new york 2005 cant remeber what venue but I was there and he was so drunk he was on the floor slurring after chugging jaegermeister the entire gig. it was in the ny post and everything.

Why didn't you record it?! That's one of my most sought after bootlegs. NOTHING, that I know of, has ever surfaced from that show. Wasn't it in 2004, though?

yeah you may be right on that like the tail end of 2004. from what I remeber the setlist was great a lot of deep shadows stuff well more than usual for sure they played hem and lose you tonight.

I was at the gig he was most defenitely lying down and the drum tech of monster magnet who lived in the same town as my friend and I, told us he kept walking off stage to blow lines of coke too he was not in a good place then.
