Hooray! A new greatest hits with a new track, a cover of Strange World! The band will be recording the new album this fall with a Winter 2013 release date. They will be touring during the spring, summer and fall of 2013 as well!

I see Winter 2013 and I'm going for a February time frame, ala Screamworks. If Tim Palmer is going to mix in November then the album will be complete before the end of the year, so we should see a single out in early 2013, if not sooner.

I know them, but i dont like Venus doom,for me it is the shittiest album of HIM, so ...
and i remember what Valo told before Screamworks - it would be like Razorblade romance, and it wasnt at all.... and Tim Palmer is kinda poppy , Hiili is heavy, i dont expect Love Metal 2, and i hope it is not going to be Venus Doom 2....
But i like Dark Light, it is nice album and i cannot imagine after that years they would sound like on GRLS 666,
but we will see

"As some of you might've noticed, we'll be releasing a compilation
album "XX - Two Decades Of Love Metal" in October 2012,
and will end the year by shaking our hips for four nights in a row at
the infamous HELLDONE-festival at Tavastia Club in Helsinki.

We're also entering the studio in early September with the producer Hiili Hiilesmaa to work on our ninth full-length album,
entitled 'Tears On Tape', to be mixed by Tim Palmer and released early 2013....

I'm going to call complete and totally BS on this "twenty years" greatest hits. Just a way for record companies to make money.

ALSN was The Greatest Hits '1997-2004. That was ok because the earliest songs on that were from '97. And truthfully, other than the really early demos when they were unsigned, they had no other music before '96-'97. So really, they haven't been around 20 years quite yet. In fact, they just broke 15. Unless the record company is going to remaster serpent ride,phantom gate,etc and put it on XX, this is not a summary of the past 20 years

Bands and record companies alike are always going to have it in their best interests to release a compilation every few albums - it's an excellent way of drawing in new fans, for a start, and also it it accomodates people who like the artist but not enough to spend too much time and money on the entire dicography.

As for the title, they're into their 15 year of releasing music, so they're halfway into their second decade of it.
Personally, I think "XX - two decades..." made for a better title rather than "XV" or trying to rename it some other way.

I would have gladly taken 'something something 1998-2012'. It would have made people go out and hunt ALSN. XX def sounds better than XV. Or just don't use any reference to numbers or years.

At least for me, the more I love a band, the more I put them under scrutiny.

I guess another part of it could be wanting to release a single that doesnt fit with the rest of the new album so putting it in as part of a compilation instead.

But yeah, I just wanna get my hands on it already and fangirl over it for a while

We may complain and have different opinions but in the end we all love HIM so it's all good
