God, I'm so confused.

My best mate has been going out with his girlfriend for round about two years now. Impressive, to say the least.

Here's some background info: he is really popular, but his girlfriend isn't so popular and most people slag her off, mainly because she's selfish and annoying.

But for at least a year he's been complaining about her. She throws tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants, she's always trying to be the centre of attention. And myself, (as well as countless other people) can't believe their still going out after all the complaining and phrases such as "Grr, what to do," that we get from him.

He's been talking about possibly breaking up with her for about two months. He doesn't want to spend the rest of his life with her, but there is an extremely strong possibility that he will, if she gets her way.

What struck me even more is yesterday he said to me "Ah, only the prom to go." In reference to, that's the last hurdle, so to say.

But now we find out that yesterday he became Mr. Romantic, took the g/f out for the day and buys her theatre tickets.

Now, I know I/we should keep our noses out of it but seriously, has he been lying to his girlfriend all this time, or does he just say that stuff to go along with us lot?
