OK...so...ive thought about doing this for a while...and now im doing it...

this is going to basically be an 'open source' thread of just all the great/old/new/random facts of HIM...just all the random shit spanning the bands career to date...but about 98% of it is going to be old stuff...because thats the only shit that matters.


so. if you have a new fact...feel free to add it...i WILL however be taking your posts and adding them to this innitial post and classifying them as need be...your posts will be left alone so you will have your own credit...UNLESS you dont know what your talking about...and i will most likely delete your post and put the CORRECTION in this one....some of this came from wikipedia...but a lot will come from fan knowledge....lets make this a good one people!...

** 666 WAYS TO LOVE: PROLOGUE EP **

- The lady on the cover is Ville Valo's mother



** RAZORBLADE ROMANCE **

- Working album title for Razorblade Romance was "Slippery When Dead". It was a tribute as such to Bon Jovi's: 'Slippery When Wet' album. (It has been said that the song that was leaked onto the internet "Too Happy To Be Alive" was a demo for this album, and a drum machine was used when recording due to Patka leaving the band.)

- The 2002 re-release under JimmyFranks Recordings (Jimmy Pop from Bloodhound Gang), was under the name HER due to Chicago based band HiM because they didn't want to share the name. Soon they accepted a money offer and only 1,000 copies of the HER - Razorblade Romance album were released. Posters and stickers were also printed and sold. Available for a limited time when the HER version was available. THESE ARE NO LONGER IN PRINT...ANYWHERE.



** DEEP SHADOWS & BRILLIANT HIGHLIGHTS **

- Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights was the first album to feature keyboarder Janne "Emerson Burton" Puurtinen.



** LOVE METAL **

- The first album to NOT feature Ville Valo on the cover.



** AND LOVE SAID NO: GREATEST HITS 1997 - 2004 **

- HIM's first greatest hits album, containing 2 new songs. "And Love Said No..." and the Neil Diamond cover song, "Solitary Man".

- Also had 2 rerecorded versions of "When Love And Death Embrace", and the UK version had a rerecorded version of "It's All Tears (Drown In This Love).

- The Digipack version came with a DVD, with 6 songs live at Semifinal Club in Helsinki.

BAND NAME - HIM

NOT to be spelled H.I.M. or HiM....why?
H.I.M. is His Infernal Majesty...which was a tottally different band, you may want to argue it isn't. but read anywhere, the band has said that exact quote.

HiM is a band from chicago which gave HIM a problem when they tried to come to the united states. Which in turn made the band use the name HER for the time being...The Chicago band stated that they did not want to share the name on any terms, but them were offered money and, as expected, took it.

If you want people to know exactly what your talking about...capitalize the name. Its hard at times to decifer when you say "im listening to him." who the fuck is 'him'? could be the band...could be jimmy dee williams...who the fuck knows.

Mika 'Gas' Karppinen was in a band called Kyyria before HIM. The band, although relatively unknown, was one of the pioneers in the Nu Metal genre that took over much of the 90's music scene. 3 of the members were also at one point or another also involved with Amorphis. They had 3 full length albums, and 1 EP. (personal note: I own alien and inner wellness. they are amazing records)

Mika's current sideproject is 'To Separate The Flesh From The Bones', a deathgrind/grindcore band. (Not what'd you'd expect from the HIM drummer who plays nice and gentle) . I was the one who surfaced the six 1993/1995 demo songs back in 2003 I think after a person from Finland contacted me and offered them in mp3 format for a trade.
Than I burned them on a CD-R, made a simple cover (which I still have somewhere) for it and named it "This Is Only The Beginning" just for the trading.

How it got to be confused to be an official name and even Wikipedia mentioning it is beyond me... An urban myth! lol
