You're welcome  :D

He got some nice shots, I actually bought a print off him - the one of Ville adjusting the microphone stand with the purple background - I really loved that one.

He's got some good shots, but he's not amazing.
I wouldn't pay that much money for those.

Maybe a bit expensive but I thought it was a nice memento of the concert, he also threw in ten 10 x 15 prints as well.

He's a young guy just starting out, I met him before the concert and thought it would be nice to show him some support  :)

Yeah, he's a young kid starting out but if he's charging $100+ now for a photo and if he decides to stick with this imagine what he'll charge in two or three years.  I would never pay like $200 and up for a photograph when I could print it off at a local store as a 8"x10" and frame it for less than $20.

that is true but his are ballanced and got all the photorules that makes it a really good photo, nit worth what he wants but so much better than one taken by a spectator

If you get up front at a show, you could get the same pictures.
Having a good camera will help you no matter where you're at in the crowd.

still not quite the same perspective, and he has alot more movement, not saying that u cant get good pics, i know i have got many good pics from the HIM shows but there not as good as he can get them or even if u where in his position he has alot more room to move and ballance pics or do the hole rule of thirds etc

Yeah he has a lot more room but if you move your camera, you can get amazing pictures with the thirds rule in from the front row.  If you wanna waste $100 on a picture that you could have taken if you have the right skills and know how to handle a camera, then go for it.  Otherwise you're just being dumb because you could capture those images.  He may have good picture for the first three or five songs but then after that.. what if something amazing happens?  He doesn't have a press pass for that moment if it's longer into the set.  That's when front row helps and the "lucky" guy who got the press pass misses out.

At the shows I've been too, I've only see Ryan Gee be able to shoot for the whole show.  Other kids who have gotten a pass have only been able to shoot for the first three songs and then security makes them leave.

General rule is first 3 songs but if you have contacts (which you can get through the promoter) there are exceptions. At the HIM concert here in Brisbane there was a photographer that was there far beyond the first three songs. There is always an exception to the rule, you just have to do your research and find the right people. (And once you find the right people, NEVER LOSE THEIR CONTACT DETAILS!)

Why go through all the hassle of trying to find contact information for someone who can't guarantee a pass and then nothing goes through?  Just go to the show, take your camera, and get your own shots that cost like 30 cents to print off at any store.  The point of a concert is not to take photos but to enjoy the damn music.

I know, that's why I go to concerts. But I am also trying to do concert photography (for larger bands) so contacting people with the hope to get a pass is a must.

But I do agree, concerts are meant to be about the music and memories.

but again photos help with the memory, i dunno its different strokes for different folks, people often enjoy a gig more of they can muck about and get pics etc some just go to watch all up to the person really, personally im the latter
