I think their heaviest album is 'Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666'... and it is actually very simple to explain why.'Venus Doom' is a pretty heavy rock album. It has very strong and powerful (Black Sabbath-influenced...) riffs, a frenetic drum work and the songs in general are much more guitar-oriented than the rest of the bands material which gives it a more dirty and kind of "heavy" mood to the album, a little distinct of their trademark Gothic Rock sound.'Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666' it's not that dirty and guitar driven. It's much more atmospheric, keyboard based, "melodic" if you will. Overall, it's much more Gothic than "rockish". But there's a twist here... Their first album is much more Metal-related than 'Venus Doom'.It has the materialization of the band's heavier influences (Type O Negative has to be mentioned here) in an album and everything is much more connected with Metal than 'Venus Doom'.It's true that it's a more melodic album than 'Venus Doom', but riffs as heavy as the ones in 'Our Diabolikal Rapture' (for example) cannot be found in HIM's latest effort...Both are heavy albums... but 'Venus Doom' is clearly a Rock album, being 'Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666' a work with a bigger affiliation with Metal (although it's not quite a Metal album), making it, in my opinion, the heavier album.
