The first album was pretty good.  I was still somewhat thrown off by Linde's voice though lol.

WHOA!!!!! SO STOKED!

I've kinda grown out of Black Metal, but I could get right back into it thanks to this album! Linde is such a versatile guitarist, I didn't know he could play this type of metal. Berklee did him well. Do we know if Burton is playing the keyboards or a different instrument??

Oh and Jay, you're absolutely right. They breakdown in Neolithic Way is so fucking sick.

the previews lead me to believe that it's not gonna be straight black metal throughout the album. I think it's awesome that linde is so versatile. As for burton, i'm not sure what He's doing. I assume some black metal keys are necessary, lol

yeah, 20 bucks for a shirt and cd isn't bad at all. And because i can't help but support the boys, i'll purchase it. Well, come to think of it, i didn't support gas' side project though...

This isn't exactly Black Metal... In fact, it can only be related to BM to some degree. It has some hints of more extreme sounds in some musics but more than half seem far from Black Metal. Some symphonic touches and some riffs are not very different from the early work of Arcturus which is a good reference because it hints some Avant-Garde direction in the album.

I'm a bit apprehensive since some of the songs seemed a bit off and generic. The rest was quite good so my expectations are balanced.

But again... this isn't exactly Black Metal.

i listen to the black metal and i must say that black metal has a lot of subgengres- pagan black metal, ortodox black metal, raw black metal, symphonic black metal, national socialist black metal , folk/viking black metal .... and so on.
previews are only 1 minute long, but it sounds like avantgarde black metal with death metal  elements in some parts and with a lot of different elements from other music genres  than in another songs like neolithic way it is not black metal at all....It is experiment. but not black metal
my opinion - music is good ,but vocals suck - i don´t like this kind of vocals in black metal
i prefer something like this:

Black Metal is my favourite form of (art) music...
What you referred most was lyrical themes and not different sub-genres and others are just ways of describing BM and not "categorizations"...

And bringing up Peste Noire is just stupid too. This is obviously very different.

man i listen to BM for very very long time, i have black metal music project
have a lot of contacts and friends of BM groups ,labels ,bm zines and quite huge knowledge about BM....etc.
what i wrote in previous topic are subgenres of bm , that means it belongs under the one head of Black Metal, it is not just like this is disco and disco is only one,but black metal has a lot of different ways, faces and so on
category and subgenre in BM is the same thing if you want or not.Ways of describing BM? what the hell? Black Metal is simply the subgenre of Heavy Metal.
You can´t describe black metal via description of NSBM for example because it is only one under subgenre that belongs under the black metal - opinions, lyrical themes, fashion and reprezentation in NSBM are different like in for example pagan black metal ,so if you want to tell me that NSBM and other subgenres that i wrote in previous topics are only ways of descriptions of BM you are pretty wrong.
Peste Noire is black metal band from France,it is not stupit to bring that group here as the example of vocals that i like. man you have to read carefully

what i wrote about Daniel Lioneye new CD ,it sounds like Black metal,it has a lot of black metal elements ,but it has a lot of different music elements
if i had to put that new Lindes CD in some music genre ,i would say it is new wave of Experimental Metal with huge black metal influence.

hawgh
