Just a question, I know I might seem stupid but was the Orpheum Theatre performance recorded/photographed with the intention of it becoming Digital Versatile Doom? Or was it decided after the performance?

If I'm not wrong, the dates were already set. I mean, they were going to happen in that venue anyway.

But quite some time before the gigs, they decided it'd be good opportunity to record the DVD there.

I'm pretty sure they had it planned before they started the tour.

I've just listened to it, and I think it's.... not that good. Ville's vocal is average, and drums are too loud. Only Linde is just as great as always :) On video, gig is awesome, but when you concentrate only on sound is bit disappointing. Just listen to Sleepwalking recorded in Toronto, that was included on Bleed Well single. It's like 3 times better than recording from L.A. However, that's just my opinion.

Edit:
After listening few times more, it's not that bad. Drums are too loud only in few songs. But really I love only two songs: Poison Girl and Soul on Fire (especially the beginning of SOF). Still I think that Ville's voice is poor, but I realise that he'll never sing like 8 years ago :(

Yes,  that is cuz ville has never worried to care about his voice.     On the live gig they even turned the notes a half step on every song so it's easier for Ville to reach higher notes.

Well when you watch the gig, the band is laughing and joking and it's amusing (certainly makes me smile!). Of course the video enhances the sound. But when it's just the audio, is seems to be missing something that only the video provides.

Though I agree that Linde is amazing!

I'm pretty amazed how Linde improved his playing.  His solos and improvised runs are just espectacular and the only thing he has left is to totally ditch out that damn Wah pedal,.. it's annoying!   :D

Overall,  Mr Lily Lazer has the palms and very loud Hell Yeah in this DVD!!!  100% great guitar.

I love especially solo in Poison Girl, and modified It's All Tears. Linde rocks!

Well Ville stated that in the interview that he has come out of his shell. I haven't even heard him speak before (Daniel Lioneye singing excluded), I think there is one video where he's speaking Finnish.

It is good to see the new (less shy) Linde!

I think ville's voice feels really edited, you can see it at some points during the concert...you see ville moving away from the mic yet the song still remains like he didn't, and other times when he moves away the song lowers like it's supposed to do...it's kinda sad cause I like it when it's live without much editing, it doesn't matter if he sings false at one point or another, that only makes it more real...
I wish I could say hello to Iggy Pop. Obviously, this is not the right moment!

yeah they planned that way ahead of time. it cost money to hire a film crew and all their equipment so you dont have them just follow you around. and you need to discuss what approach you want to take with the filming. plus just like bands book venues ahead of time, you have to book production companies. you can't just decide all that at the last minute

I always think that at concerts but I guess they have to stop at some stage. Just one more, and they play one more, and then we want just one more. Ha, sadly it has to stop eventually.

Personally, I'm just so overjoyed that they played It's All Tears!!
