I think he's a bit tired of being the "sorta gay guy" androgenous front man.  I think he wants to be known as a great frontman, and he was at one point in time, hopefully he'll regain some of that spark again.

I think the new material will help, given that the band appears to be very happy with it.

And really, would it kill them to change the setlist?  I think the majority of us can predict any given HIM show.

Everyone goes through a change.

I mean, I love his older style in all areas "back in the day"

But I still support him and the band. They've been there for me. :)

I can't decide if I liked the DS&BH Ville, or the Love Metal Ville better.

Yeah, Homer is a picky PRICK!

You can say it, I am an asshole. But I try to be nice about it.

In the Interview mentioned you can tell Ville is trying too hard to prove that he wants to be noted as a heavier musician, too bad his music doesn't tally to that of his "favorite albums" to compare his material. Some of which does not touch the album he created for months.

If Ville wanted to be a heavier musician...he would be.
Yeah, I am sure.
Hence why he has released nearly five albums that have stayed in the Rock Pop Genre even if given a Sub Genre name created by them.

Simple fact is when he signed to this world wide release contract, he signed his creative rights to create actual rock and create rock for the media not for himself.

Just because one can browse for Labels does not mean they can take any that is given to them with the highest amount of money.

But like you kindly noted, "IF".

If....

But than again, he didn't.
;)

Hmm...well we are going to get a change with the new album.

Only thing is what do you drop?  I get a funny feeling Ville could decide to drop classic songs we all love in favour of more recent songs.

One of my main problems with HIM live is that they don't variate with setlists, seeing Metallica this year made me feel even more strongly about this.  When I saw Metallica they were playing stuff they haven't toured in 20 years or such like, would it really be that hard for HIM to give Our Diabolikal Rapture, Resurrection or For You an appearance?

It honestly depends on the producer.

Hiili Hiilesmaa does an amazing job.

I think they don't play a lot of the old GLS stuff is because of the tuning they used back then.

They don't have to drop anything.  They can play for two hours.  They usually play for about an hour.

Bleedwell Lyrics
...
YOU AND I, we can bleedwell
Its our deadliest sins, confessed
That drains our souls
...

PKF lyrics
Quote
To the deadliest sins we confess
And tears of joy fill our eyes

Like Nightside of Eden, nice words so we use it in two songs on the same album?

I'm very much loving "Venus Doom". I love PKF, and Kiss Of Dawn, but Venus Doom, imo blows both of them away. It's definatly a more aggressive HIM, but still HIM nonetheless. If this is an indication of the direction of future albums, sign me up. I would like to hear some sort of alternate version of VD though. Perhaps a different vocal mix, or even a plain jane acoustic version.

Ville has done this for a long while. At least as far back as Love Metal. I always felt it was some sort of way to connect his songs.

I'm trying to find them, but with no luck. I could swear two songs on LM share the same line, or at least the name of another song mentioned in another. Maybe I'm just going batshit insane.

They traded off, sometimes they opened with S.O.F. and closed with B.A.B.L. during the course of the American Tour.
But that was the time when I cared for holding their Bootlegs.
They also did it for the Tavastia stint.

I agree with Tauriainen on the fact that it really seems Ville is trying too hard to prove that is album is gonna be "super heavy and doomy" when after what im hearing it got a bit to "dark light-isch" production i think the songs would be a lot cooler if they produced it similar to the GLSV666 sound, a lot rougher and raw sound.

But i think Venus Doom is one of the best i`ve heard from VD so far. Very catchy. But still i think Dead Lovers Lane is the best one i heard so far ;D

PKF
Kiss of Dawn
Venus Doom

well...2 of them are radio edits BUT I like still like what I'm hearing
I give:
Venus Doom 9.5/10
Kiss of Dawn 9/10
PKF 8/10

I can't wait to listen to the other songs in full ;D I hope they get leaked soon...
