my least favorite, and people will probably throw things at me, is wicked game.

i think they're version is great, but i've never liked the song, no matter who has sung it.

I am with you on this.
I hate that song I skip it every time, I also have never liked it, no matter who sings it.
Dark Light is easily my least fav album of all time but I do like Venus In Our Blood

I'm more than a little unhappy with Amazon. I pre-ordered the new album (Collector's edition) about a month ago and it's only just been dispatched tonight.

Pretending (Cosmic Pope Jam) is probably the best song ever while high.

Salt In Our Wounds (Thulsa Doom Version) would be a good choice as well.
And then there's Sternenkinder - Klangkarussell which might be my personal favourite.

So I flew from Düsseldorf Airport and part of the floor looked familiar. Turns out it's nearly the same pattern as in the Tears On Tape Booklet, from the page with the first skull. Colours are more like the next or last page pattern though.
Should have drawn a heartagram in the corner :D

I'm kinda spamming but I felt like sharing this moment of happiness today.

I went to collect my parents from their Catholic pilgrimage wearing reflecting sunglasses and listening to Ville singing about sweet six six six, violating people in the most sexual way and his cock made outta platinum. While elderly people around me were waiting to see the pilgrims sing their Hail Marys. It was a bit ridiculous but made me happy :D

You people need to post more Random HIM Bullshit.

There is a German thriller, called WhoAmI, about a group of hackers that accidentally become prime suspects in the murder of a fellow hacker. (It's great, by the way, I really do recommend it.)
Anyway, one of the guys is a bit of a psycho, so of course he has some tattoos. And what do we find on his chest?

It actually fits his character. I already liked him before since he's pretty crazy, but I now imagine him listening to RR and it's fantastic :D

I may start a separate thread on this at some point (once I have some more fully-formed ideas on the subject), but I'm really interested in discussing/analyzing Ville's songwriting and recurring lyrical motifs. I read this old (but really insightful and good) article today where Ville discusses their process a bit, and wanted to share in case anyone hasn't seen this interview: http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/ville_valo_of_him/

Thanks for sharing!
I hadn't read this and it is indeed pretty interesting.
Not sure though if I wanted to tear apart lyrics. It definitely can be very interesting and enhance the musical experience but I feel that dissecting lyrics can also disenthrall and demystify them. I have to admit that I like to listen to pretty words without thinking too much about deeper meanings. And as for HIM, the lyrics often are figurative or metaphorical, together with the musical aspects they create emotions strong enough for me to not to try to understand how they're meant literally.
Then again it can be really interesting, like the background of the term 'under the rose' that KissTheVoid posted somewhere. But no looking into recurring lyrical motifs for me for now. I might have some sudden realizations somewhere in the distant future though xD

I would be all about hashing over the lyrics! I think Ville is one of the MOST talented yet underrated songwriters of our time.  I think it would be great fun to discuss the songwriting and recurring themes!

Sounds like a great idea. If you took any time to look around the boards you'd probably notice that I'm kinda the 'lyrics guy' around here... Figuring out and analyzing the lyrics is the first things I do when I hear some new material.

Glad to see there's interest! Okay, I'm writing up something that's going to be pretty long and does require research on my part, so it'll take a while. Once I get my thoughts organized, I'll post it in a new thread and anyone else who is interested in trying their hand at lyrical analysis can join in.

I'll definitely lurk around and see how you're going to go about this!
I'm too curious...
And I might fall into the analyzing hole with you. I loved analyzing poems in school.

(Fun fact: I just googled Georg Trakl because I remembered one of his poems (To The Silenced; in German, though) to be the one that put me in a heavy interpretation frenzy back then. Turns out he was greatly influenced by Rimbaud and Baudelaire :D)

This isn't random, but this is the most active thread for this.

So years ago, as far back as probably '05-06 I purchased a few HIM screenprints. Never got any of them framed because it was far too expensive. Fast forward in my life a few years, I became somewhat of an art collector. Earlier this year, I finally got a job that gave me the financial ability to go and properly frame my backlog of old prints. So here ya'll go! I hope you enjoy
