I usually live in Dallas, but am at college in Huntsville right now. I may just travel up there and check it out though. But before a 3 hour trip up there, I want to talk to them first. Does anyone have this person's e-mail? I've been trying to find it.

(Hey Jay, if you decide to go, maybe you can send us over a message and we can road trip up there, if you're still in College Station that is, I wasn't quite clear on that.)

The Gatekeeper said it was a girl, and I don't see any e-mail addresses there.

Man, I'm sad.  I can't make the 2pm meeting.  I'll be in Austin all week again for more work related crap.  Would somebody pick me up some material?  I'd be glad to help, I just can't make it this time.

Also, yes, I still live in CS.  I really want to be in Austin, but my new job is here in town...I'll just have to wait a few months before I request a transfer.

So yes, if anybody goes, please get me some stuff if you can.  I'll love you forever and make it worth your time.*

*Sexual favors in extreme cases only

I'M GOING!!! Yay! I'm driving the 3 hours from Huntsville to go up there. (Staying at my parents place.) I'll try to make sure to grab something for you Jay. Other than that, I can't really do much because I doubt they'll give me a whole lot of extra stuff. I'll make sure to try and get pictures/scans of whatever I do get and come back to this thread and explain what all they were talking about.

That makes it so much easier to go down and stay with ur parents.  And u won't be going down just for Street Team meeting you'll kill two birds with one stone by seeing ur parents.

I wish I could go.   :(

Yes, I went. It was very interesting and awesome. I just got back from Dallas.

Here's the summary:

I'm sick as a dog and my girlfriend (PoisonGirl616) has an injured leg and can barely walk, but we decided to make the 3 hour trek to Dallas. When we showed up, there were two HIM girls there that we talked with for a while, then the Dallas Gatekeeper came in and brought in all of her stuff. She sat us all down and handed out a letter to each of us from The main Gatekeeper. Then she proceeded to hand out tons of postcards, HUGE stickers, and little stickers. She also gave each of us a disposable camera and her e-mail address so we could report everything.

Here's where it gets exciting:

She then pulled out DARK LIGHT! The album it self. Of course it was just a promo version, no artwork or anything. The tracklist has four songs circled and she says that we can pick any two of those four songs to listen to. The four songs were 'Vampire Heart', 'Killing Loneliness', 'Wings of a Butterfly', and 'Face of God'. Me and my girlfriend choose to listen to 'Vampire Heart' and 'Face of God'.

Both are completely fucking awesome songs. The whole Halloween-sounding keyboards aren't as Halloween-sounding anymore. And the ending of VH is soo fucking awesome! They can't quite do it live though, so we haven't heard the studio ending yet, but I guarantee you it rocks! FOG was soo fucking awesome too! I love it!

Here are pictures of the Material she gave us:

^^THOSE BIG THINGS ARE STICKERS! Well, snipes, and I've never seen them before, so if you aren't as impressed with the size, FUCKOFF!! Haha, just playin'.

Yes, my girlfriend is from Houston (and we are actually closer to Houston than Dallas) so she asked them if they would do a similar meeting in Houston and she said yes. So I'm guessing they will do it elsewhere too.

When I get a chance tomorrow I'll send PoisonGirl616 over into hear and she can probably do better describing the songs we heard, she's so much better at that kind of thing than me.

Also, The Dallas Gatekeeper said that she'd reveal a clue in meeting. Now that the third door is up, we know what that is for. We're going through all she said and all our promotional material trying to find it.

Also, the main Gatekeeper is not just some random Warner worker, it is someone important, someone that we would all recognize. While she was talking she said "... and The Gatekeeper is... oops, I almost just said it. That's a secret, it will be revealed" or something along those lines.

No, we only heard VH and FOH.

The paper: It says:

My Dearest Darling-
Welcome into The Heartagram, the Official HIM St Team. You have been entrusted for entry into a group far greater than a traditional St Team- we are family. HIM is a special band and we have formed a special St Team that functions on a much higher level and for a much greater purpose than other groups who promote bands. The Heartagram website is a place for all HIM fans to feel safe to come and love their favorite band with their favorite fans. We work together to make sure that everyone is well-informed and that we are doing the best for HIM. Thank you for your time and energy and I will be sure to let Ville and the band know who shows the greatest passion for the "Dark Light."

With Love,
The Gatekeeper
Darling 666

and then it has two thumbprints on the bottom as a signature.

I hope its not bam. I expect it will be someone like seppo. I dont think any members of the band would have time to do all this. But hey who knows. Could even be Ville!

I hope they start doing these meetings in the UK as well. Its almost as if were being forgotten over here now that everything is US based :-\

Bams not intelligent to write in the way that the Gatekeeper does, instead he uses words like "Haggard" and "Wille Walo", i dont hate Bam anymore but there is no chance in the world that he is the Gatekeeper.

For all the people offering to buy/trade for my promotional stuff: The Dallas Gatekeeper at the very beginning said something like "Y'all go on the messages and forums, right? Then you know how much people want to get their hands on this stuff." And she went on to say not do sell or trade it but to actually post it up and promote with it.

Y'all's offers are tempting, but sorry guys.
Title: Re: Street Team Meeting in Texas
Post by: JetBlack944 on August 10, 2005, 02:10:20 PM
Don't worry though. I signed up within a few hours (I think) of that new Crusade being put up and I still haven't gotten any of my stuff yet. So I'm sure the UK isn't assed out.

But they've done so much in Europe, I'm so happy they are finally concentrating so hard on America. I think they are just trying to crack the shell here, so they are doing sooo much here. But I do hope they don't forget their European fans and help 'em out with some promo stuff.

Also, when she pulled out Dark Light, you should've seen our faces light up! It was hilarious. I was just sitting there contemplating swiping the album from her, haha. But, naw, I wouldn't do that. I'd rather be out there promoting, helping the band and maybe getting another early listen later on for my hard work.

Did she play them aloud? Or was it like she gave you some headphones? If she did it out loud i would have recorded it on my phone or something!
Title: Re: Street Team Meeting in Texas
Post by: JetBlack944 on August 10, 2005, 03:07:18 PM
I had my camcorder, if she had played it outload, I would have asked if I could have recorded it. But she had a couple of not-so-great headphones that we listened through. The kind that go inside your ear.

But there was no way I would have recorded it without her consent, you have to be honest so that they will continue to do these cool things like allow you to hear stuff early.

Who says it has to be a "guy?"  I'd go gay for a day, to get that CD!!!

:) lol... I can imagine your faces! I would've been exactly the same.
Now if you'd only smuggled in a recorder! ;)

So you in the US haven't received the Crusade stuff yet either - that makes me feel alittle better, thanx. I hope you're right though and the UK will get it's fair share.

The Gatekeeper sent me an email about two weeks ago saying that he was sending me some stuff, but I haven't received it yet either.  I think its the American record label doing all this promoting here.  I'm sure the band won't forget their European fans ;)  Didn't I hear something about them doing a tour to cover every courtry?

So I've been promoting Dark Light as heavily as I can here in Huntsville and dilligently reporting my progress to Dallas Darling 777. So she says I've won the "extra special prize" and sends it to me. Here is what I got:

BTW, here's the letter:

August 22, 2005

My Dearest Darlings,
You are the very first Heartagram.com Texas team members to receive this most coveted gift. Count yourselves very special. There are only 100 of these bags in the entire world, so hold on to them tightly! You are receiving these because of your outstanding work for HIM and the Heartagram.

Stuffed inside your bags are your promotional materials to use for the next few shows you attend. Your new mission is to move away from "tagging" and to move towards the masses. You should be able to put any of these materials in the hands of hundreds at the shows you attend! As always, please take pictures and send them to me. You are an invaluable member of this family. We all thank you. Good day.

Dallas Darling 777

And now that you've received your promotional materials for the Crusade, aren't yall glad you didn't send me money to receive the same exact stuff? That's one reason why I never sold, I don't want to rip off any HIM fans.

I don't know why Dallas keeps getting this stuff. She said the same events/meetings would happen in other cities, but I haven't seen that yet. But she is a good Gatekeeper for Dallas, maybe it has to do with her. She works for Warner Marketing.

I'm hoping for a Dark Light listening, that would rock!

When i emailed Jim (gatekeper666) he told me some people would be reciving promo shit in the UK. I only know of one perosn now.
I think im just gonna keep nagging them because it is really bang out how it seems all the promotion is going on in the states. I mean i know they are trying to break the states and shit but they need to promote in Europe still.
I mean even himonline is offline. We dont even have an offical site now that heartagram has become the US site more or less.

I just think for most of the UK fans. We've been more or less forgotten about with this album. I hope this isn't going to be the case throughout the future. I mean dont get me wrong I want HIM to do well and be as big as they are capable of being but they shouldn't forget they're fans who got them where they are today. (Europeans)
Okay fair enough i understand they have to put all the effort they can to into breaking america but there is nothing wrong and it isn't difficult to get a few people to be sending out fliers and making gatherings in the UK as well. Infact there are pleanty of fans that would jump at the chance of doing that.

I'm confused - why are we begging for this stuff when it's the record company that benefits from our promotion, not us......? I think it's totally strange and also a very incorrect way to approach the situation.

We are here to help. We are willing to donate our time and money to promote a band that we love.....and we are having to beg to be a part of it?

Remember, darlings, there are many of you, and only one label. If you email me, you will get whatever you need to promote for HIM. Do be reasonable, though.  I can only send you what we have.  If you are coming to the meeting you will be very satisfied. See you all there.

Well, the meeting went really well. REALLY well. We got to hear the entire album, and we got some new promo posters to put up!
The album sounds amazing. I was truly impressed. And yeah there are alot of outros like they've said, and they are very well done. The ending to Nightside of Eden is awesome. Ville does something that I don't think I've ever heard him do!

No, we didn't get to see the cover. She had only a promo copy with a white card that had the track names on it.
And yes, Face of God is really good. The only song that let me down was Play Dead, and even then, it was surprisingly better than I thought it would be (after hearing the 30 sec clip).
My favorite songs would be Vampire Heart, Under the Rose, Behind the Crimson Door, Drunk on Shadows and Nightside of Eden. But really, that's just narrowing it down. I really liked all of the songs a lot. Not one track stood out as "skippable", and I could see how the band thinks there may be 6 possible singles. WOAB is not a good example of the album as a whole however. It's much more Love Metalish. Those 30 second clips just don't do it justice.

Thanks a lot for the quick album review. Sounds like it's exactly what I was hoping it to be...

Jet Black's FULL Overview of the Street Team Meeting:

First, my girlfriend and I got into Dallas (as we had to drive from Huntsville), grabbed something to eat and headed over to Maximedia Recording Studios. We got there at 6 o'clock, the first ones there, even before DD777. But she showed up right after us and started unloading boxes of stuff. We went and sat by the front door as instructed, and some more HIM fans showed up that I knew. We started talking and I pulled out my laptop and HIM notebook and everyone was looking at it. More and more people started showing up, including a lady from Finland (the lady in the pictures with blond, curly hair). Daedalus showed up too and we talked some. I talked to a bunch of HIM fans that I'd be talking to online lately.

Finally DD777 came out and brought us all into the building. We were in the main lobby area with couches, a pool table, amps, guitars, all kinds of stuff.

She explained a little bit, including who she was. But she was still very secretive.

Then she took us farther into the building where we were instructed to leave all of our stuff. No backpacks, bags, cameras, nothing.

Then she took us into the recording/mixing booth. The board was in front with a projection screen showing a large Heartagram. The back of the room was lined with cushy chairs and couches, that was where we were to sit. In the middle of the room was a large table with hundreds of candles, incense, promo materials, and licorice candy and jelly beans all over the place. We were told not to touch the promo stuff…yet, but to eat all the candy we wanted. This was all a treat for us. We should relax and just enjoy ourselves. Then she told us we were among the first to hear this all the way through, and played Dark Light!

The album starts out with 'Vampire Heart,' right into it with no intro. It was familiar as I had heard it at the previous St Team Meeting, yet totally different with a very good sound system. You could even hear what sounded like Migé in the background. As the songs progressed I loved this album more and more. 'Under the Rose' IS one of the hardest tracks HIM has done so far. And they did go crazy on the outros with awesome instrumentals for a full minute or so after the song was over. They were great. Every track on there I love! It is soo awesome, no HIM fan will be disappointed. Over the hour, people were chatting and such and when the very end of the album kicked in, the end of 'Nightside of Eden,' EVERYONE in the room was dead silent for a few minutes. That is the best ending I've ever heard on any album. I love it sooo much.

After the album was over, DD777 let us go get our stuff, so I grabbed my camera and resumed filming.

She proceeded to tell us to grab what we wanted of the promo material, but make sure everyone got a fair amount.

The whole time the album was playing, she would film us and take pictures of us, and when it was over she pulled the camera back out and said something along the lines of 'Tell the camera what you thought of Dark Light. The Gatekeeper and maybe even the band themselves may hear this.' So everyone proceeded to tell what they loved and commend HIM on a job well done.

We then got a short tour of the studio, just for fun, and everyone left.

Here is the cover of the promo copy of Dark Light that DD777 has. I don't know if it came in a jewelcase or sleeve or anything, she carries it around in a paper sleeve that looks like came with a Kodak photo disc or something: (Also, this is the same one she had at the last St Team Meeting, the tracks we were allowed to choose from to listen are circled, if you remember me talking about that)

Here is all the promo stuff we received:

So, that is my story.

As I said in a PM to HRebelIYellM, I'm not sure if 'Under the Rose' is the hardest HIM track, but it's pretty hard. A lot more so than the 30-sec clip would lead you to believe. Especially the outro.

I've posted tons of posters/snipes everywhere, given out flyers everywhere, everything I could think of.

But you are supposed to put them EVERYWHERE, and keep 2 of each item for yourself. Get rid of everything else promoting. Those are the "rules."

Yea, but if you get snipes then you can put them anywhere without them getting taken. Those things are near impossible to get off, and it is impossible to get off in one piece. I don't put posters anywhere outdoors just because of weather.

Dallas Darling 777 has another St Team meeting in Dallas. Being at the same place as it was the first time (the coffee shop), I'm assuming it's nothing too much more than just giving out promo material. But she does keep some tricks up her sleeves, so anyone in the area should attend. Unfortunatly because of short notice and gas, I can't make it up this time.

MEET ME THIS SATURDAY....
Your last chance before Dark Light hits to help promote.
Please meet me at Dunn Brothers Coffee in Addison TX.
I will have goodies for you.
Saturday the 24th.
Meet me at 1:00pm

Went to today's meeting. It was only myself, DD777 and two others who were at the last meeting too.
She gave us some new stickers and more posters, as well as a neato Corpse Bride poster.
She just wanted us to get as much promotion done as possible, and she told me that the next meeting will most likely be on October 28th, the same day as the Ridglea concert.
The new stickers are really neat and when I handed some out today, people seemed to respond really well to them.

It was nice!  But only 7 people showed up.  It was pouring rain all day :(  We got promo stuff for HIM and two other bands, Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold and Corpse Bride.
The WI/Illinois Street team leader was very cool!

He told us so many people recieved their Internet Edition early, by mistake.  We were suppose to start receiving them today, but somehow Warner Bros. sent them out a week early.  So if you haven't recieved it yet, don't worry!

Damn, I need postcards too, I'm out.

I got flyers (nice paper, slightly larger than a postcard, you know the ones I'm talking about) but on the back it now says something like "Join the HIM Street Team at HeartagramTeam.com". I also got more posters (paper, snipe size) that now say 'In Stores Now'.

i'm not the leader of my local street team, however the leader is a retard and hasn't done anything other than post a couple times about nothing.  i haven't done anything out of the ordinary... just signed up for missions like everyone else.

But on the Leader Board on HeartagramTeam.com what ranking are you? I'm curious if like the first 10,20,50 or something didn't get a shirt.

I didn't get a shirt, ( I haven't received any street team material in quite some time though)  But I did get a very nice email from Michelle at TotalAssault, (e-team) informing me that I will have two free tickets to the show in Milwaukee, waiting for me at the Will Call window!
Unfortunately for me, I already purchased all my tickets.  So now I'm looking for two more people to come.   Anyone interested?

damn well that hurt, ive been having a lot of problems lately. im sorry i have no time for your life. but, if it wasnt for this retard, you wouldnt have gotten either of those packages you got.

edit:
oh and if you want to see what your worthless leader has been out doing, go by cd wherehouse on 78 and metcalf.

under my bed nothing, i run out of materials and end up copying them to make more.  if you have time to post here, i'd think you'd have time to post on the street team board to get the few of us gathered.  that's what being a team leader is all about, you know.  doing things solo is for members.  leaders organize, plan and execute ideas.  people post there, why not use us?

as for the packages, it has nothing to do with you... just so you know.  many people have received items who don't even have a team in their area.

Contact the main gatekeeper.  Everywhere can get a street team in their state.  They just need a Leader and not have a street team already.

i had already done that. he just sent me an email that said "ok" and thats it. this is the only reason that she said i was the leader. its not like they sent me a box of shit for "my team" or anything. she got more than me im sure. only 2 other people were willing to dish out some of their own cash to help me make materials, and all i ever heard from that korrgan chick was, and i quote:
It would be nice, however I'm not sure there's as much of a fanbase here as in other cities.
Quote

and nothing but outher negative comments about my performance. not once did i recieve an email from you, but the other members have all sent me info and phone numbers, like a "rersponsible" teamer. I am done with this, it is all way too retarded, especially because you have never met me, or have never directly talked to me.

this kind of stuff doesn't really belong in this thread... so the end from all is good.

so no one else received a shirt?  the official boards aren't really clearing much up for me on that either.  i think they're a helpful way to get people a bit interested ("what's that?"), especially with the date on the back.  i'm still bummed mine is waaaay too big for me to ever wear it.

I asked DD777 about it at the Dark Light Listening thing a few weeks before the release and she said it was just some huge HIM fan that worked for Warner Marketing in LA. She said his name, but I forgot, probably Jim sumtin like people were saying. They were just playing up who it was for fun.

So has everyone been taking photos of your progress on the distribution? or is that not really necesary?

On a Street Team note:
There may be a meeting coming up in Houston on February 4th. Exact details are still tentative and are being worked out.

Mary and I wanted to organize the Houston Street Team, so we decided to have a huge event. We created Heartagram Day, which was to be the first Saturday of every February (being the month of love). 2 reasons we didn't choose Valentine's Day is so that we'd have the whole month for events (having organized the team at the very beginning of the month), and because there are two other Warner releases I have to focus on on Valentine's.

With the help of Carrie and Marci in California, we've made Heartagram Day a nationwide thing with teams in many cities organizing events on that day.

----------------------------------------------------

If you're in Houston, keep checking this thread and my MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/houstonfmr) for more information on the Houston Heartagram Day event!

Since no one has said anything yet. What is with the Vibrating Condom Ring in that pic?

One of the places I promote at are sex/smoke shops, so I figured it'd just be funny to use that picture and see how long until someone said something about it. +1 for noticing!

*BUMP*

I don't know if there is any Houstonians in here, but we have a place set for the Houston Heartagram Day party. So if you'd like to be there, then keep the evening of February 4th free and keep an eye out on this thread and my MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/houstonfmr) for further information!

If you're not in Houston but would like to do something, contact your local FMR or Street Team Leader and see if they have anything going on.

Also, if I remember right, HIMChat.com is doing a big Heartagram Day chat/party thing online for those without a Street Team nearby.
