Title: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer
Post by: Daedalus on March 05, 2014, 04:37:13 PM

Quote from Ville: "We feel truly blessed to have our sonic offspring being given a new lease of life in the U.S. by The End Records, the home for many of our aural idols, both old and new," said HIM frontman Ville Valo in a statement.

"For the past months, the infamous 'Love Metal' archives have been extensively scoured by us for rare, exclusive and downright scary musical nuggets for an experience in Finnish melancholy like no other, so please consider yourself warned…"

The End put out digital reissues this week of GLS, RR, DSBH and Love Metal, and interestingly DSBH and Love Metal are the digipak editions with bonus tracks. As far as I know, these tracks haven't been made available digitally in the US until now. What excites me is that deluxe editions of the albums will be out in the summer in multiple configurations. Maybe some nice double disc sets with new extras? Or new vinyls?

It'd be nice to have some new b-sides added.

I'm excited about these - will definitely be making sure I have cash on hand to order right away. Still kicking myself in the behind for not ordering the Tears on Tape set that was released with the shirts, cream and clear vinyl, etc. etc.  It sold out before payday dammit.

The only things I couldn't get were the cream and clear vinyl. I did get the metal hammer limited edition book and the one with the Finnovox recordings. Didn't get the shirt though. Instead I went with the hoodie. Love that thing!

is this only digital reissue or jewel case CD too? its says digital, but why reissue in digital when its yet available in digital format ?
i am kinda confused of the point of this, or just the new label got finally rights to release it so thats the whole thing?
there will be nothing new on the albums , or?

It's digital and physical, but digital only at the moment. The discs come later this summer.  Basically, the end got the rights to the US releases so they are rereleasing everything.

It won't happen unfortunately the best we could hope for is maybe some of the original bonus tracks, Ville will never let any demos be released officially.

What Ville said about scouring the love metal archives for material for these deluxe editions leads me to believe there's gonna be some good stuff put on them, including demos. It'll probably be kind of an Uneasy Listening sort of thing, where some of the stuff has already been released and some of it hasn't. Either way, I have high hopes for these. I hope they come out with the news about the tracklistings soon. Greatest Lovesongs interests me the most right now, just because I'm not sure what they would actually include on it that hasn't been released yet, but I'd like to hear more Love Metal demos too. I think they're gonna be awesome.

I could see them using a lot of live recordings for the GLS release. Maybe even throwing the 666 WTL tracks on there.

I think the majority of the bonus stuff, if not all of it, will never have been released officially before, even though we may already have the stuff through other means. Greatest Lovesongs and Razorblade Romance will mostly be made up of live tracks. Probably just left over stuff that wasn't used on Love Metal Archives. I could see them using the re-recording of When Love And Death Embrace for Razorblade Romance, though, since we were supposed to already get that on And Love Said No. I doubt the band still remembers that, but I still see it as a possibility. Once we get into Deep Shadows and Love Metal, that's where we'll get a demo or a few. Ville seems less uptight about those demos, as evidenced by Uneasy Listening. Besides that, I'm sure there will be one or two more surprises that make us almost shit our pants. I just get the feeling that these are going to be something along the lines of what we've been wanting as far as a box set of unreleased material goes, just in the form of four separate album releases. We all know how weird Ville is with this stuff, and he probably thought doing four separate deluxe album editions would sell better than a "Vol. 1" box set, if you will, spanning the first four albums. The original concept of Two Decades Of Love Metal was a rarities compilation, right? I see these deluxe editions as basically what that would've been, but just for the first four albums for now. So, besides looking forward to these, hopefully we'll have the other half of albums to look forward to sometime in the future.

they should do it as the Ramones did with old albums when they were re-released, loaded with previously unreleased songs and demos.
I only want it to be in jewel case box, not just digital release because that sucks, i want to hold it in my hand with the booklet and everything.

I think it would be cool if they did a nice box set for these, kind of like what The 69 Eyes did with Goth N' Roll, with a nice sized booklet with artwork, photographs, and details and information chronicling the years from Greatest Lovesongs to Love Metal. Stuff about the making of the albums, and the tours that followed them and whatnot. Kind of like a mini Synnin Viemaa, I guess, but more of a scrapbook/journal type thing than an actual biography. That would be badass. I don't know if these are something they're planning on going all out on like that, though. I think they're more of a quick cash grab than anything else, but I don't mean that in a bad way. The newer fans who don't actually own the albums yet will be able to easily go into a store and pick them up, and the older fans will have a reason to get them as well with the bonus tracks that are on them. I still think the bonuses will be worth it, though. They have to be if they expect those that already own the albums to go out and purchase yet another edition of them. I'm guessing there will be vinyls, though, and that'll satisfy a lot of people. This is going to be the Tears On Tape release all over again - too much shit to buy and not enough money.

exactly. Collectors will buy it anyway , twice  ;D And if they want to add some bonuses, the better for us. I hope for some really cool and rare stuff, Ville said they scoured through their stuff, so i hope they will put something off the DSBH stuff, its pretty known that they wanted this album to be different than it was , but the label forced them to do it other way
i cant imagine what will be on it, but if there will be at least one song on every album that we dont have yet i will be pleased and it will be WORTH buying. Inrofmations , artwork and stuff in the booklet would be like Christmas morning LOL at least for me, booklets are like a fetish for me  ;D
The only thing i am really afraid is that it will be only Album + bonuses that were already released on deluxe versions (like Loves requiem) and some live recording like they filled uneasy listening with Turku live songs, nothing against it i LOVE live HIM recordings, but putting it on albums with demos is not the greatest idea.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, because I know I won't be fully happy no matter what happens because that's just the way I am when it comes to this band, I'm way too passionate, but there's so much good stuff they could use for these and I know there's gonna be things left off that I really wanna hear. When Ville says rare, it worries me that songs that have already been released on older and harder to find CDs are gonna be put on these and take up precious spots that never before released stuff could be occupying. I think that's inevitable, but as long as there's a good chunk of material that hasn't been put out yet on them, they will certainly be better than nothing. I hope they end up releasing the info soon, because the more time that goes by, the more I think about all the possibilities of what could be included, and I get really excited.

exact, "rare" in the promotional sense, is alot different than "rare" to fans like us that have been following and collecting the band's catalog for a decade +

It's going to be hard to beat having the studio version of 'Rescue'. I still get excited to this day when that comes on

From a new interview with Linde:

"Your early catalog is being reissued digitally and is coming out as a deluxe edition. That must be nice for younger fans who caught on late and can't find the old albums in stores.

Yeah, exactly. They've never been released here properly before, so it should be a good thing."

That's a burrrrrn on Universal records, haha
Title: Re: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer

I think I still have those Universal releases in my basement somewhere. There's probably spiders chilling in the cases. I told myself from now on I'm not going overboard when it comes to new releases except to support the band and if something actually warrants a purchase besides me just wanting to have everything. We'll see how that goes. They always get me somehow. Like that blue vinyl of Two Decades. I pre-ordered it quick as hell because it was supposed to be limited, then I actually forgot about it because it took so long to actually come out. Didn't even get one of the stickers, but I see they're still selling them to this day complete with the sticker for much cheaper. I'm gonna take a wait and see approach this time for things I don't really need and I'm on the fence about getting.

I'll buy one of each when they come out for my collection. If they have new material on them I'll buy two of each, one to open and one to keep sealed. I'm sick like that. But, it's far cheaper to get stuff like that when it first comes out rather than down the line. I don't even buy stuff for value, just a compulsion to own as much as I can get my hands on.

I pre-ordered the blue vinyl version of Two Decades as well and ALMOST threw out the box before I saw the sticker as in a clear little packet on the outside of the box- hope you didn't accidentally toss yours out!  I am definitely going to be saving for these reissues though just in case they sell quickly.  Really hoping for something awesome this time!  I loved both of the Uneasy Listening discs, too, and really enjoy hearing alternate versions of their songs....kind of keeps them fresh.  Guess we are all eagerly awaiting these releases.....

Post by: SwagSaget on March 25, 2014, 12:44:22 PM
I've seen at least a few other people say theirs came taped to the outside of the box it came in, but there was nothing on mine. It didn't even look like there was a spot something like that could've been and it just fell off during shipping or something. It's a very strange way to send something, though. It's like they got all of the packages ready and then someone found a bunch of the stickers lying around and was like, oh yeah, we're supposed to send these too. I wasn't too bummed about it. It was a surprise I even got the vinyl at all because it felt like I pre-ordered it a year before I actually received it. Then I see they're still for sale today for a lot cheaper. I thought they would've been sold out a long time ago, and I thought that stickers were even more limited than the vinyl itself. I could've swore they were a little incentive to pre-order early.

Also, I just got an email back from someone at The End Records about these. I guess I should've emailed a different department, because I got the generic "thanks for your interest, please stay turned for more information" response.

Post by: Jaded_Heart on March 25, 2014, 06:39:18 PM
Yeah I dunno why they would put the stickers on the outside either- seems kind of dumb to do, especially when they could fall off.  And I thought the same thing too about the pre-order incentive with the sticker. I had no idea they were still available, but with my luck, I just order when it's there because you never know when something will sell out. Then it's gone forever unless someone sells on eBay! Ha! Like I need to go back on there- have already spent a gazillion on stuff and probably haven't even tipped the iceberg!  8)

Interesting. I'd be ecstatic if those got put on the GLS deluxe edition. It's more likely that they'd release the 93/95 demos over that though since they've got to know those are already out there.

Just now saw that picture of the comment from Gas. Funny enough, when I spoke to him last summer about demos (like I mentioned on here before when I told him us fans would love to have a box set of them, and he said he thought it was a great idea and he'd tell and talk to the guys about it) I brought up Witches And Other Night Fears and he said he didn't know what it was haha. Swear to god. I should still have the messages on my Facebook from our conversation.

Here's a pic of his reply to me on Facebook: http://i.imgur.com/MH5ath0.png (http://i.imgur.com/MH5ath0.png)

I asked him if he could tell me anything about Witches And Other Night Fears, and I also brought up the "demo that shall not be named" as well. Looking back on it, it's hard to tell if he's being completely serious about not knowing what WAONF is, but he talks about the other one with no problem, so I don't see why he would want to hide anything in particular about WAONF - unless these deluxe editions were already starting to be planned around that time and that was supposed to be the big surprise about them, but I guess that would mean they aren't planning to use any songs from that "other demo". I don't know, I just hope they release the information on these damn things very soon.

yeah very interesting video, but when they did Withces and other night fears on four track machine and Ville still has master tapes, that should be still good to be released , with the 4 track stuff they probably did vocals, bass , drums and guitar on the one track , that should be easily mixed, remastered , who cares about the quality its analog , still beats the CD nevermind it sounds like a garage recording, WE WANT IT!

Can the band please go back to a major label again so that it will actually seem like they still exist? The publicity and promotion of them has absolutely been terrible since their comeback, and it sucks as a fan. The damn website is still just a plain picture with tour dates for Christ's sake. It's disappointing. They should be hyping up these deluxe editions, at least giving us a sneak peek of them or the track listings or something to get excited for. They're just gonna drop them randomly instead and then wonder why they didn't sell good at all and then we'll just get fewer things like it in the future because they'll figure fans aren't interested. You know HIM fans are dedicated when things have been like they are and they're still selling out shows, but they could do more to stay in the public eye without spending a lot of money which this new label doesn't have. The regular digital editions just came out of nowhere, and not that those should sell good anyways, but it's just poor planning and poor execution and I think the band deserves much better. I know they didn't wanna deal with a major label again, but they could've chosen a better one than this shitty one they're at now. Get that damn website fully up and running, have a message board on there so we can have a community again that's not on Facebook, and treat the band like they should be treated because they aren't some random metalcore band trying to make it big in the business. They've already been there and down that. They're towards the end of their careers sadly, but there's no excuse for not having a real functioning website after all this time when it was being worked on at least a couple of years ago. God damn lol. I want my band back, not this shell of their former selves with a shitty label at the helm. As big as they still are, although unsuspecting eyes wouldn't be able to tell by the bare looks of everything unless you dig deep, they could be even bigger.

That's a pretty good point you've raised, you'd think out of common sense that the return of HIM would have had a lot more hype. I remember when they were teasing us before the release of TOT with the clock on heartagram.com, and I remember thinking to myself "This comeback is going to be huge". But I've given up with checking that website now, it's pretty poor. As for the reissues, they should definitely promote them, because you're right in saying they probably won't get a lot of sales. With HIM communities, it would be nice to have a heartagram.com forum like there was a couple of years back, but i think fan made forums such as this one are best, because this forum is full of dedicated him fans, instead of women fantasising over Ville and all that stuff.

Does anyone have any vague idea when these are being released other than "Summer"?

Watch them get delayed indefinitely or cancelled lol. I just really wish things were different with the band right now. It'll never be like ten years ago again, but everything just seems so dead. If there's one thing I can look back on and appreciate from Warner, it's the fact that they kept the band and their image in the public eye very well. Sure that also came along with heartagram bookbags and school folders, but it felt like the band was very much alive and breathing then. It's like they're on life support now. They need something to breathe life into them again. When they were on hiatus and it wasn't sure if that was the end or not, it was pretty sad. Then they announced their comeback, and it was like alright, they're back and now they're gonna kick some ass! Except they haven't really done that yet. Everything was a mystery leading up to Tears On Tape, and you pretty much had to search out news on your own. It never really felt like they were at it again. Then the album came out, and while it was good, it was still disappointing for the big comeback album. Short and nearly half instrumentals. Almost like a test album like Two Decades was a test release to see if the fans were still out there. Rock Allegiance, a cancelled US tour, and then a successful one later on, and it still doesn't feel like things have changed at all. I'd like to say I hope things start to pick up, but it's been a year since Tears On Tape and here we are still wondering what the hell is going on haha. I just hope the end isn't as near as it seems. It's inevitable, but I'm not ready yet. I want there to be a buzz about the band again one last time. A sense of excitement again. A sense of a loyal and loving fanbase once more that isn't just people commenting on a status on Facebook. I want to have more discussions. Ask more questions and give more answers. The band still has fans. Some are standing in plain view while others are hidden, but they're all still there for the most part somewhere. Whether they're new fans or they've been around for awhile, they still exist. No disrespect to this board because this is clearly a different audience here and the people I most relate to when it comes to the band, but if there was a real website with a message board again, I think people would sign up in droves. Of course it would be mostly fangirls talking about fangirl things, but it would seem like a big community again regardless. Again, no disrespect to this board. I think most people are too intimidated to post here because we don't talk about how anyone looks, we focus on the music because that's what's important. This place has been and always will be great for that reason, but I surely do miss the activity, and it's definitely one of the reasons why everything seems so dead because that aspect is basically dead, but the record label and the band need to kick it into high gear as well and give us the best final years they possibly can and go out in style. It sucks to think of it that way, but if something were to happen and the band was no more tomorrow or something, it would feel like a very empty ending to it all.

why do you think this was their last album ? why would they end their career that early? because their label sucks and they have lousy advertisement of everything they do? blame their label and manager, or maybe they were just sick of it all when they were in Warner and they wanted to be more "underground" if i can call it this way, you know what i mean. You just based that they are ending because they dont have a proper website and you feel that everything died - blame facebook in the first place. If you followed their last south american tour - they looked and they were pretty happy, they enjoyed every second of it + i remember seeing the interview where Ville mentioned that they are going to make this summer festival european tour and then in fall they will work on new material, google it

They're definitely winding down. I wouldn't expect to see as many more albums come out as we already have. I would like to see them make one more big run at the US, just to see if they can pull off a hit on the scale of Join Me here. WOAB was big, but it wasn't that big.

It's hard for me to envision more than two new albums to look forward to. I just think they simply won't be able to afford to make more than that. Making an album and doing it right is fucking expensive. You have to earn all of that money back before you can start to profit, obviously, and when people paying for their music is only becoming less and less common than it already was, you really have to sit back and think if making a new album is even worth it. The guys may have looked to be in good spirits lately, but they aren't getting any younger and I'm not sure how much longer they want to be doing this for. They've been at it for a long time now. They can't keep going forever. So, I see two more, and I hope they're damn good. Not that Tears On Tape wasn't good, but I'm hoping for something better and longer too with no instrumentals. I'd also like to see them go with a different producer other than the usual two suspects, at least for the first one, and see what happens. It would certainly freshen things up a bit. As long as they don't pick someone like the Disney pop producer Matt Squire like they did with Screamworks, I think the results would be good. I'm kind of tired of Hiili and Tim, to be honest. They're both good at what they do, but it's time for someone else to step in. Maybe they can't afford anyone different now, though. Going back to Matt Squire for a moment, I still don't understand the band's decision to move along with him. Either Warner Bros. was really pushing for him, or it had something to do with Kat Von D. Either way, it makes no sense that the band would fire Andy Wallace five years earlier during the recording of Dark Light for making the band sound "too American" and then let Matt Squire do that exact same thing with Screamworks. Either way, I'm just hoping get someone different at the helm this time around. Can't think of anyone right off the top of my head that I would want to do it, but I'm sure there's tons of producers out there that would do great with the band and liven up the sound a bit without completely changing what we're so used to as the signature HIM sound.

Obviously i wish for nothing but the best for the band, but I can't really see them becoming as well known as they were a few years ago. I think HIM are slowly winding down, and I think two more albums would be it. I think that when the next album comes out, it'll still be like TOT, meaning it'll probably be a tad short along with the band hardly gaining that much recognition. Like i said, I wish for nothing but the best, but i just can't see HIM having the stardom they once had.

the next album will be short as ToT, Ville said that in the interviews that he hates long albums, and they prefer shorter albums around 30-35 minutes, Mige agreed with Ville on that, so....

I'd say that they're kinda at a low point right now, but we also can't forget that they had a pretty long break because of Gas's wrist. They've come back strong considering that fact and while some people may have moved on or forgot about them, they are still filling venues and such on tour. I will say, and I hate to admit it, that if they don't get their image back they will probably only put out 3 more albums, but we can't forget who they are and what they've accomplished in the past. They will work their way into the limelight again and things will go back to normal. These guys are all friends and have been through a lot together... The only way I could honestly see them ending is if something really bad happens.

Listening Screamworks and TOT i dont see any losing of ideas... Ville will never stop writing music (he is born to be what he is) and i dont think the others will leave him. after all this is their job and i dont think they are gonna change that any time soon... yes may be they will start releasing in 3-4 years between not in 2 as now and the good songs will be less but somehow i'm ok with that.

the next album will be short as ToT, Ville said that in the interviews that he hates long albums, and they prefer shorter albums around 30-35 minutes, Mige agreed with Ville on that, so....

So....what? Ville says all sorts of things in interviews. We all know by now not to take anything he says too seriously. It's usually either a contradiction of something he's said in the past, an embellishment, or just a downright lie. There may be some truth in that particular statement, but I also think he was defending their big comeback album being so short. I firmly believe the band knew the album wasn't long enough, and that's why we got Live At Finnvox to go along with it instead of it being released online like what was originally talked about. Another short album wouldn't be so bad if a large chunk of it isn't experimental instrumental tracks. When it was originally said that TOT would feature instrumentals, I expected jams like they do live. All in all, I don't think it would be wise for the band to put out a Tears On Tape Part Two. A fresh change is needed.

Speaking of change, does anyone agree with me that someone else besides one or both of the usual two suspects should produce and mix the next album, or are you guys happy to just stick with what's worked before? Those two guys have really gotten stale on me.

we must wait for the new stuff at least a year. they mentioned that after summer festivals there will be no tour in fall and Ville will start working on the new songs. i think he already has some ideas and pieces, maybe some outtakes of previous album to work on. what really suprises me is that they totally screwed the website and left it like crap for more than year and a half. thats absolutely terrible idea. as there was mentioned their advertisement is terrible, there will be reissues of the first four albums, and we have no details, no advertisement, nothing.
i think they should do the album themselves for the first tíme without any help on producing and mixing. they already have a lot of experience and their self produced and self mixed demos are far better than final versions on the album. at least for me. and they should definitely restart their website as soon as possible.
Title: Re: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer

I would like them either to do the whole album themselves or go for a producer/mixer they've never used before. We've heard the Tim Palmer and Hilli sound enough maybe use them on their very last album but for now try someone new. Let's be honest we're unlikely to end up hating the album, we haven't hated one yet. I stick with what I said on one of the earlier topics. I think the earliest we could get a new album would be Fall 2015-Early 2016.

i personaly hate Screamworks album on its sound side. Its lousy produced, mixing could have been better, at least they compensated it with the acoustic bonus CD which is perfect thing and they had balls to make Foreboding sense as it is, which is the best stuff on the entire CD for me. But to the Screamworks - terrible booklet (but nice front cover), very boring back cover, average CD cover! the contrast between low and high sides of the Screamwork is interesting. At least this is how i look at the entire Screamworks album with everything. The tour to the Screamworks was terrible too - with overlouding Miges and Burtons false back vocals, you barely heard Ville, he was insecure and not really enjoying it.

i consider their best sounding and best produced and mixed album Razorblade Romance, for me there is no weak part of the RR on its sound. If they decided to make an album with John Fryer again i would be pretty excited, because when they announce the duo Hiili and Tim Palmer we always know what we should and what we are expecting and there were no huge surprises on the sound when the duo worked on the album. Razorblade Romance sounds so raw, dirty and rocking! Its perfectly balanced HIM sound for me.

I don't hate any of their albums but i understand where your coming from with Screamworks and why that's the one people tend to dislike. I don't actually know why i like it the most. I honestly don't mind which album it sounds most like. I think well get an idea of how close the next album is if they play a new song at Helldone this year.

Screamworks was a little strange for me, and it still is, because sometimes i actually forget it's a HIM album. It sounds weird, i know, but the sound was just a lot different. I love the album, yes, but If someone asked me to list all the him albums, it would be that last one where I'd say "oh yeah, and screamworks".

They need to go full on garage mode for the next one, exactly what most of you are saying just record the demos over dub them with vocals and have someone barely mix it just so the levels are right and master the ish and done 12 or 13 full tracks it'll end up being their best album. They sound amazing live, although the live at finnvox is not what I have in mind more like Rescue.

Finvox live is amazing, i wish it was at least 15 songs live performed and released like that, like a live EP with Sleepwalking Past Hope, maybe with some DSBH songs too, that would be perfect

i dont hate screamworks, i only hate how it is produced and mixed and how it sounds, totally not-HIM style, i believe if they had Hiili and Tim Palmer on Screamworks it would be like Tears on Tape, maybe better - for example Sword of Democles version of Shatter me With hope (mixed by Hiili is far better than the entire album version of this song)

You guys are going to think I'm really going crazy now (or just simply getting crazier, I guess) but to go along with a new producer for the next album, I think they should also have someone else master it as well. Ted Jensen has done the last three albums, and I'm not really too impressed with his work for the band. George Marino (RIP) has mastered the three best sounding HIM albums (Razorblade Romance, Deep Shadows & Brilliant Highlights, and Love Metal). What's interesting is, George Marino was the Senior Mastering Engineer at Sterling Sound. Ted Jensen, the guy they've been using since Venus Doom, is the Chief Mastering Engineer at Sterling Sound currently. George Marino is a legend, but you would think that a guy that is that high up in the ranks at the same company could be able to do a comparable job. George's masters were almost perfect. Ted's are really muddy, especially by comparison. George died in 2012, and I'm not really too sure why the band stopped using him after Love Metal. Stephen Marcussen mastered Dark Light in 2005, and then it was on to Ted Jensen from there on out. Ted is also the one who mastered Death Magnetic for Metallica, which is considered by a lot of people as the worst sounding album of all-time. Death Magnetic came out a year after Venus Doom did, though, so the band was already using him before that infamous album. As with the producer, I don't know of anyone off of the top of my head that I would want to do it, I just don't want a muddy sounding album anymore. If you have some high quality headphones, or a nice stereo setup or something, listen to some of Razorblade Romance and then immediately switch to Tears On Tape or Venus Doom. The difference is almost painful.

i know exactly what are you talking about Cory, altough i dont like how the Love Metal album is mixed, but RR is perfect in every aspect
when compared to Tears on Tape its clear what are you talking about, but in the other hand - for the band maybe thats not their priority because they know that most of the people will listen to their music in lousy shitty mp3 quality .....

i expect from these reissueses - limited versions tracklists (with all bonus songs on the first 4 albums - not the live CD that was on RR limietd, but the 9th Circle, Loves Requiem,..... you know) + well chosen never before released rarities (i hope no stupid remixes will be there, but true unreleased things like never before released songs, outtakes, demos)

The only thing that does concern me is that they will be straight up reissues with the bonus tracks included, that would be disappointing. Does anyone know whether they are planning on releasing them as 4 separate albums or a box set? Which cd are you all looking forward to the most?

They haven't said yet, as far as I know, but I think both ways will be an option. It would make the most sense, IMO. Not every single person is gonna want to buy them all. I can see them doing some sort of limited edition box set - a few of them actually if there is going to be vinyls too. Gotta keep the HIM tradition alive and have as many different things to buy as possible. There could be a CD only box set, a vinyl only box set, and then a Super Deluxe HIM's Biggest Fan On MySpace box set that includes both the CDs and the vinyls. Hopefully soon we'll find out just exactly how they plan to empty out our wallets this time, although I'm personally probably going to wait before I buy anything this time around, and probably just end up getting the regular versions instead of everything unless I absolutely can't live without something that only comes with one of the different options. Like, a sticker, or a poster, or a flag isn't going to be enough for me to have to or want to buy that particular version anymore. No amount of heartagram laser pens or photocopied Polaroid photos will make me spend extra anymore. I just pretty much want the music now and that's it, but there would still be some other things besides exclusive tracks that I would find cool and pay extra for just to have, I'm just going to be very particular from here on out. I'm not very interested in collecting anymore, especially with the new releases, so I'm fine with just getting a bunch of unreleased songs and nothing else besides that because the music is the main incentive for me.

It's been three months now since the original statement about the deluxe editions. I give up on them.

We must be looking at a mid-to-late September release for these damn things now. The very end of Summer, of course. There hasn't been any mention of them again anywhere for over three long months of waiting now to hear some more news to get keep ourselves excited about them and to build on that excitement, plus to let all the people know about them that didn't already catch the announcement. I can only imagine these things are going to sell horribly, which is going to make it really hard for them to want to do anything like it again, which is obviously a damn shame for people like us here.

If they haven't already been quietly cancelled in hopes that not too many people were aware of them to begin with, I could see them just popping up for pre-order one day out of nowhere, but not enough people are going to know what they are or why they should get them, and those people that just found out about them won't have the money already set aside to get them when they first come out, so they're going to be a failure from a sales perspective. They need to start ramping up some promotion and start getting the word out there more. I guarantee you that the majority of fans that post on HIM's Facebook page have absolutely no idea about these things. Warner Bros. would've been everywhere promoting these deluxe editions. You wouldn't be able to run away from somewhere promoting them. They'd have everybody aware, and the sales numbers would reflect that.

I hope The End Records doesn't cause the end of HIM. They need to get their heads out of their asses and start doing some work for the band. It's not like they're the busiest group of people as it is, that's for sure. Someone could at least take the time to photoshop something nice to pass around for everyone to see. I'd do it myself, but I fucking suck at photoshop, plus I'm not getting paid to do it like those guys and girls over there are. They could finish the website, as I think that would really help a lot, but the altered Love Metal cover and tour dates is good enough for them, I guess. Ask anybody that isn't a big HIM fan if they've ever heard of The End Records before. I'm sure they haven't. It sounds like one of those indie labels where all the hardcore bands all go to die. The only good thing about them is that it opens up a possibility of a HIM/Lordi tour, but HIM hasn't toured with another band I like since Kill Hannah back in 2004. Anathema was the weirdest choice for a support act this year. The two different styles of music didn't mix well at all. The opening bands are supposed to get you hyped, not relax you and make you wanna fall asleep before the main act even hits the stage.

This whole thing is so frustrating for me. I want the old days back.

I would be disappointed if they were cancelled as I was looking forward to possibly hearing something new. I think it will just be the case of someone on here stumbling across the fact that they've already been released rather than an announcement.I agree with you on the Warner/Sire front even with SWRMXS we all knew it was happening, it was shit but we knew. I can still remember that homepage playing that horrendous In Venere Veritas remix. Remember though with the festivals starting we might see a tv recording of a HIM show somewhere and Ville may mention the reissues in an interview somewhere.

Not liking the sound of that interview at all. He did mention a vinyl box set, which I'm not really into but I'm sure enough people would at least want to have in their collections. He said they record all of their gigs now, which we already knew after that backpack got stolen, but that was exactly what I was afraid of, the bonuses all being live songs from recent gigs.

I'm losing faith (no pun intended) and excitement on these by the minute now. There could still end up being some really good stuff on them, but it doesn't sound promising when Ville says, "We're still trying to figure out what and when. We've been recording all of our gigs now, so..." Live tracks, especially new ones, are what I least wanted and feared would be biggest bonuses besides stuff we already have. Live stuff is fine as long as it's from the era of the album, it hasn't already been released before, and it's only a few songs at most.

He said the record company never really pushed the old albums before (what is this new one doing differently then?) so it's making it seem like these are just going to be pretty standard releases for the most part, with just a few extras on each to entice someone who hasn't bought them before to now make the purchase, and to give the diehards and collectors enough of a difference to buy them all yet again. The vinyl box set will probably end up looking pretty nice, which will almost surely be the main reason to buy it, but the extras they seem to have in mind aren't the extras any of us here would want.

I'll reserve full judgement until the entire tracklistings are revealed, but I'm prepared more than ever now to be disappointed. :-\

Everyone get prepared for recent live versions of For You and When Love And Death Embrace to make their way onto the Greatest Lovesongs edition. They're gonna have to be old live recordings for Deep Shadows, though. I guess that's the only plus. All of the other albums could feature recent stuff. That ain't cool, but I could see it happening if they're just trying to sell their old albums again instead of giving them the real deluxe edition treatments like a lot of other bands are doing nowadays where they include tons demos of every song on the album, a bunch of outtakes, whatever b-sides there are, and then finally live recordings. I wasn't expecting nearly as much as what Soundgarden did just recently with Superunknown, but something in the same vein at least. Take a look at that deluxe edition. That's a fan's dream come true right there. Soundgarden sure knows how to do it. They have completely different fans, though. The casuals could end up screwing everything up yet again.

Sometimes I feel like even Ville has no idea what's going on with releases.

There's probably no one in the band or at that label that truly knows what the hell is going on lol.

The thing that bugs me the most is - the band (Ville especially) doesn't seem to have a very good grasp on who their fans actually are. The fangirls are the most vocal and the most rabid now, of course, so it's like they're the only ones out there and the only ones they have to please, and that's pretty easy to do with just the simplest of things. There's still a decent amount of us older fans left still lurking around, just waiting for something interesting and exciting to happen, though. Just like with the live sets, there needs to be a compromise. Something for everyone to enjoy with equal amounts. The band should've reached out to the fans somehow and let us pick what we wanted to see the most and help with letting the band know what is already out there online, kinda like what Jimmy Page did with the recent Led Zeppelin remasters. He reached out to the bootleg collectors to see what is already available, as to not include anything on the releases you could already get otherwise.

I still think that the best thing they could do with the recordings they've been making is to put them online like Metallica does. Even though I'm always bitching and complaining about the setlist, if I could download a lossless soundboard recording of each show they do just a day or a few days after it happens, I'd be spending money like crazy. This is where the fangirls and the casual fans come into play, though. The casual fans definitely aren't going to care or want that, and the fangirls would only buy the video of a show they were at so they can look and see if Ville looked at them throughout the show at any point.

The only old live stuff that I could truly see myself being happy with if it is included, just off the top of my head, would be: Pre-Greatest Lovesongs stuff, the early versions of both Join Me and Razorblade Kiss, In Love And Lonely, and You Are The One. But I doubt they have solid recordings for any of those things.

At the end of the day, I think we all picked the wrong band to become hardcore fans of, or at least to stay hardcore fans of up until now haha. We'll probably never end up getting what we all truly want because there isn't enough of us out there now getting our voices heard about our interest in hearing demos and whatnot. We're definitely just a small little group on this message board now, the only message board really left that I know about. If there were more of us online and being vocal about it, something good might happen. Something good could still happen with these releases, but I don't know now. Things are still as confusing as unknown as they ever were.

my 1 cent to this thing.

i am the one who is bitching the most because of their setlist!  ;D if it depended on me, i would retire their entire setlist they are playing the last few years, and forced them to play different setlist on every fvcking show of their tour ... at least if they brought back "And Love Said No" and some DSBH songs that would be great

to the reissues - i was afraid of live recordings - but obviously Ville just comfirmed in the latest interview on this theme, that they recorded live shows and they still have no clue what and when they will do on the reissues - i bet just out of blue - we will have "For You live from whatever show" on Greatest lovesongs 666 reissue, we will probably have Death Is in Love live from Helldone on the Razorblade Romance reissue. I cant see that we will have another lives of Buried alive by love or When love and death embrace as they released these "live studio recordings" as the part of the deluxe version of Tears on Tape.
I rather dont wanna see the tracklist of the reissues so i wont be pissed off, but anyway i love the band the most and i love them because of their music, not their merchandise and shits.

edit: And Cory i agree with every word you said on this! great points

but whatever it comes, i'll take it :P

Lately I've been trying to stay positive and since we know the band members already know what people like us would like. I'm gonna say they are purposefully fucking with us. We will be shocked, elated, surprised and Corey will wet his pants with joy (myself included). Ps I think they're getting desperate and I think they're gonna give it up.

I'm trying not to expect anything because it's just pointless at this point and I don't want to stress over it. I am excited that there will be a vinyl box set as I wasn't expecting that at all and I'm also happy to see that they realize that some of their older songs are still worthwhile to play and their setlist hasn't really been the best. I would just be happy if they changed it up in the way that Ville said and include a wide array of songs from their beginning and even those they've never played before.

Early March in the first press release - "For the past months, the infamous 'Love Metal' archives have been extensively scoured by us for rare, exclusive and downright scary musical nuggets for an experience in Finnish melancholy like no other, so please consider yourself warned…"

Fuck yeah! That sounds like demos and other good shit that we've all been wanting! These are gonna be great!

Early April in this video interview - "We don't know what or when, but we've been recording our gigs lately, so..."

Noooooo!!!!! Haha. :P

The point I'm trying to make is that in early March it was said that these had already been being worked on for months prior and would come out in the Summer. The original press release made it sound like these were gonna be awesome, but the newly posted interview dulls the excitement with the mention of the new live recordings. If these things were being worked on for months prior to March, by April they probably should've known for the most part what the bonuses are gonna be, and that's why the mention of the live stuff is disappointing to hear. It's not like I would ever expect him to say, "Yeah, there's gonna be a demo of an old song we did for Greatest Lovesongs but we never ended up using." Nothing specific like that, but he didn't say else besides the live recordings they've been making. I just think Ville, even though he doesn't take interviews very seriously, would wanna hype these things up a bit more if they included some really good stuff. We pretty much know for sure now that those recordings are gonna be a part of these somehow, but that's the only thing we know so far. But hey, at least we know they eventually found that guy who stole the backpack, I guess, right? I don't remember ever hearing what happened with him, but all must be well now. 8)

if they want to put live recordings on these reissues, they should not do it with the 2013 and 2014 live recordings, i dont wanna have a bonus of "For You" on the Greatest lovesongs vol 666 album live from 2014. If they want to put lives they should use the live recordings from the era of the album or before the album was even released.
For me the only acceptable live bonuses on these reissues would be soundboard live recordings of Razorblade Kiss , I Love You from the 1998 + Join Me of that era , and as Cory said early live versions of DSBH songs performed in 2000.
But still if they wanna make a real reissue, they should release the version of the DSBH as they wanted it to sound like back in 2000/2001. its well known that they had to record it as the label wanted it and i am sure they have a lot of stuff recorded as they imagined the DSBH will be like. if they wanna reissue the album they should finally release this with the new label, maybe they will start liking this beautiful album and play at least Pretending or Heartache every moment again on the concerts

That would be the shit right there. Didn't Ville say in Synnin Viemaa that he wanted to do that at some point, as far as releasing the album the way they originally intended it and wanted it to be? That would be the greatest thing ever. I probably wouldn't even mind live shit on the rest of the CDs if they did that, haha.

What led to The End deciding to acquire HIM's early catalog and re-issue it?

AK: I discovered HIM on a trip to Europe, before they had any releases in the US. Through the years I got to know the band on a personal level and it was cool to find out Ville was a fan of a lot of our releases. HIM also put some of our bands on their tours. So when the opportunity came up to reissue their catalog, we spoke about it and suggested we work it together. They liked the fact we were excited about making deluxe versions and vinyl. This has been a mutual project as Ville is very involved with this. Any fan of HIM will be very excited once the details get announced. Stay tuned.

Here are the demos that we know about from Love Metal:

1. Rescue

2. Circle Of Fear

3. This Fortress Of Tears

4. Beyond Redemption

5. The Sacrament

6. Sweet Pandemonium

7. Shine

8. Through The Darkness

That's eight right there, but two have already been released for sure, because I'm not sure if Through The Darkness is The Path. Give us the remaining six and then 2-4 other things and we'll be cool.

It's funny, I see a ton of people on Facebook acting like this is the first time hearing about these re-issues after that interview with Ville, and we've all been waiting for them for how long now?

Cory - do you think they will release only demos? i was hoping for that, but i have a feeling we will have some acoustics, versions (like thulsa doom version of Salt in our wounds) and stuff, not only demos
But 8-10 songs/album  is far more than i was expected!!!! i thought it will be like 2-3 per album, so this is wonderful info, i hope they will do something with the booklet too and it will be amazing. And i hope it will be all 2 CD release - 1st CD - album version reissue - 2nd CD - unreleased songs
and my only wish for this reissues now is that - NO LIVE TRACKS! :-D

Also i saw the sacrament listed as "the Heart of Darkness" on a Love Metal promo a while back. "Through the Darkness" is the path and I've also seen "this Forest of Tears" but that may be a printing mistake.I would be be happy with a mixture of demos and acoustic tracks but lets hope they keep the live tracks to a minimum.

Nah, I don't think that all of the bonus tracks will be demos (whether they're just Ville on the acoustic guitar or properly recorded with the band) but I'm starting to feel more confident now that there will be a good amount of them spread out between the albums after Ville said how many bonus tracks will come on each. Just like you, it was way more than I expected. Awesome news. Now we just wait. Again. Haha. I really wanna hear the Beyond Redemption, The Sacrament, and Sweet Pandemonium demos after I went back and revisited that list.

Months of waiting, wondering and wishing and here we still are....no closer to any damn reissues....but at least we now have word that something will be in the mix around October.   I'm glad I'm not the only one still waiting around for this...haha.....I am not sure that I believe the whole 8-10 tracks per album though. Yeah, sure, Ville said it in an interview but what if he suddenly develops amnesia or decides that the demos or whatever aren't good enough for our ears? We'll be screwed again.....  keeping my fingers crossed for something epic to be released this Halloween!

Maybe we will find out what we've been wanting to know on September 1st? Could just be about Helldone, but I don't give two shits about that at the moment really, lulz. Maybe if I lived in Helsinki, but I'm more concerned with the re-issues first. I'm just hoping the bolded part below eludes to the those as well, but I'm prepared as always for whatever, including more waiting. It makes the most sense to me to release all the info we need on the re-issues as well at the same time, but you really never know with this band anymore.

"Greetings from the Helldone HQ, loved ones! Very soon we will be able to announce the fruits of our summer labours. For the time being we can just state that…

There will be a Helldone Festival in 2014.

The dates will be Dec 29-31, and the festival will be held at the clubs Tavastia & Semifinal in Helsinki, Finland.

There will be great headliners, special guests and truly rare performances spread out over all three nights.

But most importantly, there will be the unique feeling of Helldone. Kindred spirits from all over the world gathered together in the heart of the Hellsinki winter to take a leap into the New Year.

More info to follow in a week’s time, Sep 1. See you then, stay safe!"

"Truly rare performances" sounds nice, though. I wonder what that truly means...

I wish I could've seen the reaction on the face of the person who runs that page when they first read that question. I also wish I would've saw that before they answered so I could troll a little bit. Would've been funny to have her believing that the reason why Helldone is so special is because it's the only show they ever sing entirely in Finnish.

If that happens to be the case, then it's been nice knowing all of you. I can't stand the incompetence of the record label or whoever is at fault any longer. Seriously, though. It's a really simple task that no one can seem to get done. Helldone is something that most people just figure is going to happen each year, and while it's still cool and all I guess, there's never been something like these re-issues before. At the very least, they should be on the same level as Helldone as far as announcements go. I hope no one is surprised when they don't sell well at all if they don't start picking up the slack in a major way. Everyone involved with the project is pretty much saying "these things aren't really important at all" by only saying very little about them over the past several months since they first became known. Fans won't think they're important either if no one else does.

Cory i understand your point, i already said  to Luis in PM that i think they already screwed it with the advertisement and the reissues will be very bad selling , i dont even think that they will make it up by advertising it the entire October before releasing, it should have been promoted and "spammed" on every internet music page, store page, HIM pages of fan clubs and stuff like that since spring at least, everything after that is too late
but i can wait to the release date without any informations at all, i will then just purchase it and i will see whats on it when i will have it in my hifi player LOL  ;D

So... someone leaked some info before the official announce :P Very good news!

Btw... Just 1 night for HIM on Helldone, as the old times. We will back to the time on the next months, promoting 1996-2004 stuff. November and December will be very special and great (with some mini-tour promoting these?).

Just we need to wait for the official announce on 1 week. Hopefully with more info, I'm dying to know what are these 37 unreleased songs.

P.S. I think that someone from Tiketti has readed the Cory post :P

I might just be more excited about this than a new album! And apparently a US tour is coming before Helldone to promote this stuff in the states...yeaaaaaah!

I wish they'd release 666 ways to love on cd as well. The vinyl boxset is going to cost a lot. :(

Yup, some mini-tour to exclusively promote this before Christmas. I'm really excited, what we will have on the setlist? Apparently something that we will no listen in a long time.

I hope that these "overplayed songs" will change or take a break. I will love to hear new songs/versions... Do you can imagine to listen some 90's "early versions" from RR again (I Love You, Join me, Razorblade Romance) or listen something that they never played before (or in a long time).

And yeah, I'm more excited than a new album too. It's a travel to the good times from the past that we ever dreamed about. I can't wait for the official announce with the info of all the "bonus stuff".

While all this 666 ways to love news is truly exciting, I am still not getting my hopes up. A flash drive with music on it? This can't be serious. I have been a fan of HIM for over 14 years, and I certainly hope those 'bonus tracks' have been unreleased as of yet. I hope to hear some of the original DSBH mixes and even a few from 'slippery when dead'! I wish their marketing staff would realize HIM still has a huge fan base and spending a little time and money to promote this stuff could be worthwhile. It's unfair fans have to rely on pure speculation.

I'm not going to even get excited until I hear reliable news that we will be hearing unreleased and unheard tracks. 666 ways is great but those tracks have been on YouTube for years, nothing new there except a vinyl and it's sleeve. :/

If they did put a lossless format on the USB drive it would be a miracle, but I highly doubt it. Do you honestly think they are gonna 37 lossless tracks on there? The drive would have to be pretty big.

As I know, these 37 unreleased songs will be on the Deluxe CD reissues as Bonus CDs. The most popular format is MP3 so I doubt that they put some wav or Flac files, but it will be nice. (on TOT, the downloadable songs was on Mp3, no?)... So, if they didn't add these format files, we can get it directly from CDs.

Btw... The USB drives are cheap nowadays... There are not impossible to add some 16-32-64GB USB stick on the pack.

i am a master in losing and screwing the USB sticks, so this USB stick would be alive few weeks and then as i know myself i would forget it in my pocket and wash it with the laundry or i would lose it. No thanks i wanna CDs with the booklets and maybe nice enhanced or special cover art, or maybe some nice sticker on it

They COULD do the USB stick like the Beatles remasters...they were actually higher bitrates than the WAVs used for the CDs...but I doubt we shall be that lucky.

I have understood that USB stick will be part of the "Limited Pack" of the Vinyl Boxset w/ some poster, heartagram slipmat and something else, not selling only the USB stick. Anyways, If I'll buy it... I will not use it. My laser pointer from DL was used only 1 or 2 times.

I'm afraid the bonus tracks will all be alternate and live versions, like the tracks on the Uneasy Listening compilation. I'm trying not to get too excited, so that I'm not too disappointed later. :) A vinyl edition of 666 Ways to Love is something to look up to, though. But I must say I made a custom, one-off vinyl of it myself. Like I did with Venus Doom. ;)

I'm glad a date has been put out there I'm starting to believe it will actually happen after all now, i'm not overly bothered about 666WTL being re released as i have the CD but i appreciate it will interest some people. But the surely a cd would sell better than a vinyl? I imagine ill just end up buying the 4 cds individually rather than 666 ways with a USB stick. Nervous for Mondays ticket sale hell, hoping to make it 3 years in a row to Helldone, should be a great show and Helldone is the one show where the setlist never disappoints. Anyone else thinking of going?

i hope they will put 666 ways on CD remastered re-issue, i want that one, it will be MUCH cheaper than buying it from ebay LOL :-D
but still they never said that they will release 37 previously unreleased songs from only era of the first four albums. That gives me some hope that maybe there could be some DL demo and not only stuff from 1997-2003. i am just afraid that they will put there some remixes and live tracks, that would be unwanted surprise for me, because previously unreleased track can be live, remix, version, demo, outtake, rehearsal, take

Looks like I will be at Helldone for the 3rd year in a row  :D  :D Got 2 tickets for NYE couldn't be assed with the VIP ticket as I'm really not into the other bands playing so €250 seems a lot. The ticket sale went smoothly for once I was on the site at 11:00 after 2 hours of queuing and had tickets by 11:02 which was nice for a change. Hopefully we'll get a tracklist soon for the reissues can't wait to see what we're getting.

bad label .... they should have stayed in Warner,
i know we were happy at first when they signed this new label because we were expecting more freedom when making an album, but now after all this i am sure they did ten steps backward, i remember when they were under BMG they were HUGE, when they signed Warner they had amazing promotion, advertisement and Dark Light was gold in the US and very well in the rest of the world too
now i wanted to buy a T-shirt of HIM few days ago in the shop where they had all king of music bands T-shirts and i had also Tears on Tape T-shirt on me and asked if they have some HIM T-shirt, they had no clue what band it is - thats not funny but rather sad  +  i have never heard a single ToT song on the radio  (only on Dan P Carter show). When there was a Wings of a butterfly single, it was almost annoying how often it was on TV or radio , everyone knew HIM and that song

once great and famous band became a regular band , i dont know if they wanted this , but i am sure fans are not happy as they used to be, at least i am not

I'm back from my protest after finally seeing those leaked details a couple of days ago when I got the urge to visit Saint Scream. As you can probably tell from my new username, I'm pretty excited about 666 Ways To Love being included in the vinyl box set. I wonder if it's remastered too, or if it's just the four albums and the bonus tracks that needed it. Either way, now I need to buy that box set. They suckered me in again, damn it. The EP alone is gonna make whatever price they're charging for it worth it. I hope the vinyls are colored, though. That would be really cool. Going back to the remasters, I hope they've been done right by someone who truly knows what they're doing. If they've been done properly, the experiences of re-listening to the EP (possibly) and the albums should be some amazing ones. They could end up being the definitive versions. If not, though, I'll just stick to the originals. I'm still interested in the bonus tracks the most, and now the vinyl EP is right up there as well, but remasters done right would be the icing on the cake of some releases that I was extremely doubtful about for a long time and now look to have turned out better than what I would've thought or could've hoped.

I really hope they don't tour here in the US in December, though. I imagine they'll change the setlist around to reflect what they're promoting, almost like taking a trip back in time to 2004, but I don't wanna have to make my way to Chicago in the Winter. I'd really hate to miss a show where I might finally get my wish as far as the setlist goes and where it might feel like the old days again because of the circumstances, but it's extremely hard to plan anything like that in Northern Illinois during that time. There could be a giant blizzard, or it could be 60 degrees with not even a trace of snow on the ground. You just never know.

I'm one of the lucky 2000 (4000?) that will be receiving a copy of 666 Ways To Love on vinyl in the mail. My mission is accomplished. ;D Now I must use the rest of this post to bitch a little bit. I really think they should've given us a heads up first. I can only imagine how pissed off some really "diehard" fans are gonna be when they finally wake up or get the time to order their "Diehard Bundle" only to find out they're all sold out. Also, it's pretty funny that the bonus track they give us is, of course, a live version of Right Here In My Arms from 2014. I had to laugh when I saw that. They uploaded it to their YouTube account on September 12th, though. Did anyone notice it beforehand?

"One of the aforementioned bonus tracks is a previously unreleased version of “Right Here in My Arms,” from a HIMconcert at El Teatro Flores in Buenos Aires"  ...

ok so we will have live tracks , .... sweet, RHIMA live from Argentina, well, very rare and rarely performed live song..... yes!

01 Buried Alive By Love (Live at El Teatro Flores BS.AS. MMXIV) - live , i will skip this one
02 Beyond Redemption (Vinnfox Relics) - OK i cant wait for this one
03 Circle Of Fear (Vinnfox Relics) - OK, great
04 Soul On Fire (Live at Semifinal HKI MMIII) - we have this, whats the point of putting this one on it? ....
05 Endless Dark (Vinnfox Relics) - OK i hpe its different than 616 version
SIDE D
06 The Sacrament (ACSTC Pascha MMXIV) - OK i cant wait!
07 This Fortress Of Tears (Vinnfox Relics) - OK, this is excellent
08 The Funeral Of Hearts (Live at Helldone MMXIII SJK) - live,... i will skip this one

01 Again (Hollola Tapes) - we have this, dont we? i am confused
02 Pretending (TRNSFRMTN Version) -  version? sweet, i dont know what to think, but lets see, or hear
03 Lose You Tonight (Hollola Tapes) - i am lost in this one, do we have this? or ?
04 Salt In Our Wounds (John Fryer Mix) - OK! this sounds more than good
SIDE D (DELUXE ONLY)
05 Close To The Flame (Hollola Tapes) - OK
06 Please Don't Let It Go (Hollola Tapes) - OK, amazing i was waiting for this one
07 Pretending (Kevin Shirley Mix) - OK, another mix? well i dont know if i am looking forward for this one or not
08 Love You Like I Do (Hollola Tapes) - OK, this is cool

01 I Love You (TRNSFRMTN Version) - OK, version, but i dont know what version? anyway i am looking forward to hear this one !
02 Resurrection (PRCX Version) - CANT WAIT! most anticipated song for me !  ! !
03 Right Here In My Arms (Live at El Teatro Flores BS.AS.MMXIV) - sucks,... totally pointless to release live 2014 version of this overplayed song,.,. but OK i will skip this one
04 Poison Girl (Strongroom Sessions) - OK, sounds fine
Side D
05 Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart (Strongroom Sessions) - OK sounds fine
06 Death Is In Love With Us (Live at Helldone SJK MMXIII) - well another live track. OK i can survive it because its not overplayed song like Wicked Game
07 Join Me In Death (PRCX Version) - OK but what does it mean "PRCX" ?  :o
08 Gone With The Sin (Strongroom Sessions) - OK

01 Your Sweet Six Six Six (Live at Helldone TRE MMXIII) - another live track, well i will skip this one too
02 It's All Tears (ACSTC Live G&T Version) - live? what? i am confused
03 Our Diabolikal Rapture (Live at Rockpalast MM) - Rockpalast 2000 - we have this, pointless decision on release this one
04 The Heartless (ACSTC Pascha MMXIV) - 2014 version of Heartless, well OK i cant wait!!!
Side D
05 Stigmata Diaboli (Live at Caribia TKU MMII) - we have this, why they are releasing this as it was released on Love Metal Archives DVD?
06 For You (ACSTC Live G&T Version) - what? ACSTC live G&T version? what is that? lets see
07 The Beginning Of The End (Live at Provinssirock MCMXCIX) - we have this, another pointless song
08 When Love And Death Embrace (Live at Center Stage GA MMXIV) - i have this :-D another live track from 2014

for me , Love Metal unreleased songs look GOOD! , the worst its without any doubt Gr8est luvsongs vol 666, DSBH is looking nice too and RR is 50-50 for me.

well , honestly i was expecting MORE, a lot more
one live track from random concert is ABSOLTUELY pointless to release as "unreleased song",..... i dont know if they dont have that many stuff from the first album era, but Greatest lovesongs vol 666 bonuses suck for me

what do you think ?

There are some demos on the CDs by the looks of it but it's mainly live tracks, I've gone for the cd bundle as the "diehard" ultimate fan thing would could me about £60 in import tax after the $200+shipping to the UK.

My summary

GLS 666- Not that interested in live songs and ACSTC i assume is acoustic so they could be good. 6/10
RR-Cannot wait for Resurrection, Join me and I love you ,strongroom sessions should be alright the rest i can cope without.9/10
DS&BH-All looks pretty good stuff but nothing extraordinary. 8/10
LM- most excited about this one the vinnfox/finnvox stuff might 2002 demos and i like the sacrament so a new acoustic version can't be a bad thing. 10/10

Pretty underwhelming list of bonus tracks, although I guess it'll have to do. Better than nothing, but certainly could've been a lot better. Definitely some things that have already been released, so there goes the "never before released" sales pitch. Too much recent live stuff, which I was worried was going to be the case. It was to be expected, though. On the bright side, the Love Metal demos should be fucking awesome. Absolutely looking forward to hearing those. I counted 9 demos total for sure, one of which was already released (Again) - so 8 new ones. Certainly a disappointment that out of 37 tracks spanning across four different albums, only 9 of them are demos. There's definitely more in the archives. I don't know what some of the shit on that list is, though. I would guess a TRNSFRMTN Version is a remix of some sort. No idea about the PRCX Versions, though. We already have a Join Me In Death Strongroom Mix, and I can't really tell anything noticeably different about it, so those Strongroom Sessions will probably be the same if I had to guess. Overall, not an absolutely terrible list, but they could've made it better for sure. There's definitely some stuff I'm looking forward to, however.

EDIT: Missed Endless Dark somehow. I'm going to say that's gotta be the same version we already have, so now only 7 new demos for sure. That Close To The Flame version could also very well be the one that's already been released, so that would take the number down to 6. What happened to "never before released"?! I can't believe they would give us three demos that are already out there lol. Come on, Ville.

For You (ACSTC Live G&T Version) is presumably the version from the Gone With the Sin single.

And there's an unplugged It's All Tears on the Join Me single.

they scoured their archive and chosed live tracks and already released tracks on DVDs or bootlegs, thats not making the reissues that much interesting for the HIM fans, but ok lets see
Love Metal bonuses are cool and i cant wait to hear these. I dont know what to think about RR Strongroom and PRCX versions, but if these are different somehow i will be glad.
DSBH - i was expecting more, honestly, two versions of Pretending? Well ..... i was hoping for some more interesting stuff on that one
and Greatest Lovesongs vol 666 - the more i look at the tracklist of the bonuses the less i am looking forward for this one. Honestly i was expecting something extra ordinary, cool and this is very poor. Why i was expecting old songs like "i have crossed the oceans of wine... "  or something like this? well my hopes were TOO HIGH

and know , these USB sticks - do you have any clue if the USB will be filled with mp3s  or lossless format songs? mp3 can suck my dick but lossless is something different, more info is needed for me!  i cant decide where i should throw my money on what bundle  ;D

Instead of "never before released" they should say "here's some stuff you definitely DON'T have, and then here's some stuff that you may or may not have, depending on how big of a fan you are". That would be more accurate. I'm glad we're getting anything at all in the long run, but you know what I mean.

i was worried that it will be exactly this! and when i look on other live tracks i am afraid you are right, well it would be more than disappointing to have the same track that was once released, only differently titled :-D

thanks 616 for doing a breakdown of my exact thoughts track by track. pretty unwhelmed to say the least. at first, i looked at just the track listing for GLS on theend's website and was about to just give up on the rest one I translated the roman numerals in my head. Most of this is pure shite!  Live tracks that don't even come close to when the songs were released. For the record, I would been okay with live stuff that existed in bootleg form, but they gave us the soundboard source (like Sailin On and HoD on Uneasy Vol 2.).  I personally don't have any real need for the big box as I have the ALSN Vinyl Box set from a decade ago and an original 666wtl cd.

So much potential just completely wasted. And due to where the band is in their career and how much they clearly have lost that spark with the fans, this is as good as it's even going to get.

PS- Every with news of a so so box set and a mini tour, all that has been completely trumped by the news that Cat Stevens just announced his first US Tour in 35 years. Way more stoked for that

Hopefully the albums will be well mastered on vinyl and that will make up for the underwhelming selection of bonus tracks.
I'm looking forward to replacing the terribly brickwalled CDs.

Just to add a glimmer of hope to all the audiophiles here, I noticed while reading the details on heartagram at the end of each description of the vinyl's it includes a digital download card for each. That to me hints that we are looking at some lossless digital vinyl versions of the albums that could be a big plus!

Heh..lossless...heh...
They will be 320kps MP3s, probably using the same master as the current digital downloads. And the vinyls probably are using that same master as well. The USB drive might just have lossless stuff direct from the masters...if we're lucky.

This is really disappointing if you ask me... no new songs on the bonus tracks or anything from witches and other night fears.   The songs that sound like demos might be cool like the LM vinnfox relics, strongman sessions and the DSABH hollola tapes.   I do like some of the live tracks because I got sick of hearing bootlegs and want to hear a pro recorded live track.   I'm not really a big fan of any of their remixes and there are no good acoustic versions other than the heartless.   Watch the for you and it's all tears just be the jyrki versions like we are thinking.   When I first heard about this I was thinking I would have bought the "ultimate bundle" but I'm not sure if I am interested in anything.

There's 32 bonus songs so does that mean there will be 37 different tracks on the USB?   I hope there's more involved in this, most of it we already have.

Edit: If there's nothing different on this USB then I'm definitely just getting the Deluxe Re-Mastered 4 CD Bundle.   I don't like vinyls anyways and it's $155 cheaper.

I think it's 32 (4x8) + the 5 bonus songs that we have already, that came on the limited editions of the original releases (Sigillum Diaboli, The 9th Circle, You Are The One, In Love And Lonely, Love's Requiem)

The ridiculous shipping fees to Europe are really annoying, now that I'm moving back from Indy to Germany end October. I will probably also settle for the 4 CD bundle.
I'm excited for the tapes of RR, DSBH and LB...that's enough to make it worth to get it for me...I agree though that it could have been better.

I'll offer this in the open for anyone buying the super deluxe giant whatever box set that lives in EU (except possibly Italy and France since I hear your post systems are shady), I am totally fine if you want to have it shipped to me in America and then I will gladly ship it overseas.  Shipping direct to EU for THEEND is about $110-$120. US shipping is about $22. And probably another $50-60 from me to EU. Plus I can declare a lower customs value so you don't get hit with VAT. I have friends in Croatia and Netherlands that I ship stuff to all the time. And the contents are far more expensive than this box set. So I know how to do a decent job. PM me if you want to talk

Just pre-ordered my Deluxe Re Mastered 4 CD bundle.   Came to 52.75 after shipping.. Can't wait.

Are we sure that the other 5 bonus tracks are SD, 9thC, ILAL, YATO and LR?

I've emailed the record label to enquire about the vinyl mastering chain. Regarding the download card, it's highly unlikely that it'll be anything more than lossy mp3.

After getting over not getting any new songs on this I am excited to hear a lot of these.   I sort of broke it down a little to see what were getting

Vinnfox Relics I am most excited for this... we will see if Endless Dark is the 616 version.  If so it is the same session as Rescue
Beyond Redemption
Circle Of Fear
Endless Dark
This Fortress Of Tears

Hollola Tapes We already have Again and Beautiful from Uneasy Listening Vol. 2 and they sound amazing.
Again
Lose You Tonight
Close To The Flame
Please Don't Let It Go
Love You Like I Do

Strongman Sessions I like the Join Me version of this song better than on the album so i'm looking forward to this
Poison Girl
Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart
Gone With The Sin

ACSTC Pascha MMXIV Okay new acoustic versions I can deal with especially an acoustic Heartless which we've never had
The Sacrament
The Heartless

TRNSFRMTN Version The obvious is it's Transformation abbreviated but I'm hoping they re recorded theses tracks recently
Pretending
I Love You

PRCX Version No idea what this means but I'm ready for a different version of Resurrection
Resurrection
Join Me In Death

ACSTC Live G&T Version Cross your fingers these aren't the ones we already have
It's All Tears
For You

Misc. Mixes  There are too many versions of these songs to begin with so they best be good
Salt In Our Wounds (John Fryer Mix)
Pretending (Kevin Shirley Mix)

LIVE

Live at El Teatro Flores BS.AS. MMXIV Sounded really good on the 2014 tour so I like this
Buried Alive By Love
Right Here In My Arms

Live at Semifinal HKI MMIII Already have this from the ALSN dvd but it is my favorite song and they sounded excellent for this
Soul On Fire

Live at Helldone MMXIII SJK I liked the intro they did for FOH and DIILWU is cool because they just brought it back
The Funeral Of Hearts
Death Is In Love With Us

Live at Helldone TRE MMXIII Not sure if this is the same gig as the ^previous Helldone mmxiii sjk
Your Sweet 666

Live at Rockpalast MM Really dumb we have this whole set on video and audio
Our Diabolikal Rapture

Live at Caribia TKU MMII Again really dumb... have this whole show too
Stigmata Diaboli

Live at Provinssirock MCMXCIX I like this version better than the illosorirock from 98'
The Beginning Of The End

Live at Center Stage GA MMXIV So glad they did this for the closer in 2014, was amazing with Gas and Burton playing on it.
When Love And Death Embrace

Here's what I assume all the tracks from the USB stick is:

GLS - 9 + 8 bonus
RR - 11 + 8 bonus
DSBH - 12 + 8 bonus
LM 10 + 8 bonus

That equals to 74. Then add 4 from 666 WTL, you're at 78. If you don't include 666 WTL, which I could see...then it's the re-recorded YS666 and WG from RR, along with Sigillum Diaboli and 9th Circle and Love's Requiem. That's one short though.

Edit: 666 WTL is clearly on the USB stick, but NOT part of the bonuses.

I will laugh if the missing track was the track 66 from GLV666 xDDDD

Btw... if you add the "Bonus Tracks", the missing track could be "Stigmata Diaboli" from GLV666 or Again from DS&BH

Did you guys notice that apparently only DSaBH is enhanced with bonus tracks from the original digipack edition, i. e. You Are the One and In Love and Lonely? No Love's Requiem on Love Metal or anything else on the remaining two. Which is strange, since The End Records' digital reissues of the albums did include the extra tracks...

I emailed the end records asking for a list of songs that are on USB....long story short, the track times are completely different from the promo times.

Also, I noticed that the two acoustic songs that are on the GLSV666 reissue differ in time length too, which leads me to believe that they're also different from the uneasy listening ones :D.

What I also find interesting is that according to the list, Love's Requiem is included twice. For both of the versions, the track times are the same. It doesn't make any sense why they would include Loves Requiem twice unless the second version is different. So I'm hoping that the identical track times is just a coincidence.

We're in for a treat, though, some of the alternate versions differ by a minute or more, so expect some radically wild changes.

Endless Dark Finvvox will be the same as the 616 version because they are both 4:12 in length.   That's good that the demos of Beyond Redemption, This Fortress Of Tears, and Circle Of Fear will sound like Rescue.  Can't wait to hear these.

Edit: Could the And Love Said No (616 Version) from the wings of a butterfly single be the demo or even from Finvvox???
Or what about It's All Tears (616 Version) from And Love Said No Greatest Hits?  Maybe the 616 thing is connected with Finvoxx.

Shipping everwhere must be high cause it's not exactly cheap in the US either... I imagine that it's a decent size box and has a bit of weight to it.

They've also changed font on the box - previously the Lashes to Ashes, Lust to Dust title looked like Ville's handwriting, now it's more like And Love Said No. And there's more - can you find all the differences?

The biggest one I noticed is it seems that 666WTL will be pressed on 10" vinyl instead of 12". The CDs look actual CD cases now. The crease lines are not in the poster. Anything I missed?

Guess you've got it all. ;) Switching from 12" to 10" for the 666 WtL EP isn't really good news to me - I have a vertical record player and it doesn't like 10".

Switching to a 10" makes sense, as it's only a 4 track EP. But now it won't match the albums. *pout*

I find it extremely fuckin' sad that not even 1000 out of the 2000 Diehard Bundles have been sold yet. They even added that signed poster as an incentive to hopefully get more people interested. Where the fuck are all the fans at? I know it's 2014 and not 2004 anymore, but there aren't even 1000 fans worldwide that want it? And I know the bundle is a tad bit expensive, but it's a damn good deal for what all you get with it. Totally worth it. The shipping overseas is outrageous, and there are several other buying options to choose from besides the Diehard that I'm sure people have been ordering, but it's just unbelievable to me that it's not even halfway sold out yet. Yeah, the bonus tracks could've been better overall, but there's still some good shit that I can't wait to hear, everything is remastered, and it's just a damn good set of releases. I honestly feel bad for the band. I'm sure they expected way more interest. Hell, in my message to Gas on Facebook that was over a year ago, I told him that us "diehard" (yes, I really used that word) fans really wanted a "giant box set" of unreleased material. He messaged me back and told me he thought it was a great idea and he would present the idea to the band. I'm sure they were probably already working on the releases at the time of my message last September, I'm not taking credit for giving them the idea, but it just sucks that there doesn't seem to be much interest. For the band's sake, I want them to make money. And for my sake, I want to see another set of releases like them in the future. If these aren't profitable, though, forget that idea.

It's probably the same thing as before. They only say there is 2000 to increase the rarity. They probably sold more, or just failed to update it.

I would love to have a Diehard bundle and a poster. I have never heard HIM on vinyl and don't have anything signed. But it is just too expensive. Normally I would request it for my birthday/Christmas but I was told to cut back on expensive items this year. So I'll probably only be able to get the CD package. Which I'm cool with. I don't own Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights or Love Metal on CD yet.

The vinyls in the box are all black and they're all single LP editions, with no bonus tracks. To get double coloured vinyls with bonus tracks you'll need to buy them separately or buy the diehard bundle.

Is anyone else as curious as I am to know who remastered everything? I tried asking The End Records, but they wouldn't tell me. I don't see why that information should be withheld, but I'm fine with listening to everything first before I draw any conclusions. I honestly don't have too much hope that the remastering will be done right and won't fall victim to the new industry standard of compressing the hell out of everything to make it sound as loud as possible, but they should still all be interesting to hear differently after all this time at the very least.

They probably won't say because the people running the Facebook just don't know. It's probably a deal that they wouldn't know until they have the finished products in front of them to look at the liner notes. I really hope they didn't just increase the volume on these (like some remasters) and call it a day. I can pick out different things that should be done with each album to make them better. I only hope they put enough time and effort into it.
Title: Re: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer
Post by: 666WTLOnVinylFTW on October 25, 2014, 08:45:38 PM
I'm hoping the reason it took so long for them to fully announce everything is because they were taking their time with the remastering process to make sure everything was done right. The albums could definitely use improvement, at least on the CD side of things. When you look at the DR values of all the digipaks...

666 Ways To Love - 7
Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 - 6
Razorblade Romance - 6
Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights - 6
Love Metal - 7

Those are all in the "bad" range. Out of the cassette and vinyl rips that we have, though, the Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights cassette has a DR of 11, the Love Metal cassette is 10, and the 2008 180g vinyl of Razorblade Romance is 10. Those values aren't too shabby and they're right in the middle of what is considered to be the "transition" stage before the "good" stage starts at 14. The potential is there for these albums to sound great. If the newly remastered CDs test the same as the originals, I'll be disappointed. If they do a good job with everything, it'd be cool if they put up the four albums on HDtracks.

What do you mean by DR?

Anyways, I don't care so much about the CDs, just the Vinyls... Can't increase the volume on a Vinyl lol so they better have done some real remastering.

There's one particularly audible glitch (a click) towards the end of Sweet Pandemonium from Love Metal (just before the instrumental outro), I hope they got rid of that.

This email is to inform you that the release date for the upcoming HIM re-issue releases has been changed from November 25th 2014 to December 23rd 2014 and affects all HIM re-issues. This change is due to an overwhelming product demand being brought upon the manufacturer for Black Friday Record Store Day releases. As before all pre-ordered items will be sent out before the release date. If there are any more updates we will be sure to let all of you know of them.

We have seen some early test proofs and they look amazing!  We're sure this is worth the extra wait!

The overwhelming demand is due to all of the other releases the same manufacturer has to get done for Record Store Day, not the HIM re-issues themselves. The HIM re-issues are being pushed aside so the requirements can be met for everything else they have to get done that has a higher priority than they do. The boxset is currently #103,304 in Music on Amazon. Also, they have Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights listed under "Hubert Felix Thiefaine" as well as HIM for some reason haha.

The news definitely sucks ass. Poor planning all around for these releases. More waiting yet again. I know I'm going to be disappointed once I actually get my stuff after all of this.

i hope they will at least release 666 WTL on CD remastered too if they wanna make it up to the fans ... !

To make it up to the fans, on release day (which will be on Valentine's Day 2016) everyone that pre-ordered will receive an email with a code that doesn't even work for three free downloads of Buried Alive By Love, Right Here In My Arms, and Wicked Game live on December 11th, 2014 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. When fans start complaining that their codes don't work, The End Records will give them a 5% discount on any future purchase of $199 or more from their store. Most people will use the discount to order a brand new Diehard Bundle, which still will not have been sold out by then, complete with the autographed poster and all. The remaining USB sticks from the unsold boxsets will be sent to Africa, where people will put them into their donated computers and discover the music. They all will love it so much that thousands of new African fans will be created, and it will spark a new revolution that makes 2004 look like a low time for the band. The band will then tour Africa. While on tour there, Gas catches Ebola, but is able to survive. Changed by his near-death experience, Gas quits the band to embark on a journey to develop for a cure for Ebola once and for all. Ville carries on as a solo artist that only records covers of his former band's covers of songs on the acoustic guitar and xylophone. He is mildly successful online using Soundcloud, but struggles to find a label as even The End Records doesn't want to sign him. He eventually quits the music business for good, and no one ever hears from him again. The fangirls suffer from depression for awhile until My Chemical Romance gets back together, then all is good.

The End (Records).

I hope you all enjoyed my story.

We should've all gotten together after the band left Sire and started a record label of our own called The Sacrament Records. We couldn't be any worse. In fact, we'd probably be way better. We don't really know what we're doing or have any money, but neither does The End Records.

While this is clearly The End Records' fuckup, people will get angry with the band, not the label. I'm afraid the remasters won't win HIM many new fans, but instead they may alienate some of the old ones because of the constant delays, high shipping prices and lack of proper promotion.
Title: Re: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer
Post by: Alex on October 29, 2014, 05:17:27 AM
this release is limited to 2000 copies. cost 200$... its all about the money, not new fans.it is for collectors. the band used to selling 50,000 - 500, 000 cds in USA. Now they cant sell 2000...  well and I dont think Sire can fix that... i dont think the low sells are because bad promotion.
Title: Re: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer
Post by: 616 on October 29, 2014, 05:46:34 AM
2000 is for that diehard bundle only or?
its OK because the shipping is terribly high to the the rest of the World, so most of the fans from EU and rest of the world just dropped the idea of purchasing this because of the shipping
i doubt its still not sold out, i think that was just a hoax by the label so they could get more fans to buy it, then the fans got hooked up and purchased more than 2000 so they delayed it because they need to print more copies

they used to be a huge band, but with this label they wont be any bigger than they are at this point.
the low amount of sold items is caused because of very LOUSY and bad promotion, or none promotion at all.... its labels fault
they obviously think that Facebook is ENOUGH...... very amateur (but its free), they could spam that all over the place since the spring and it would be better, but we talked about that earlier and i think the promo was bad since the announce of the reissues

another fault is the band itself, they are trying to get new fans with the SAME songs , they play still the same songs, so when there are newbies or non-fans attenders on concerts they will hear just live version of "XX Two decades songs (without DSBH and SWORKS)" , so they wont buy much albums but they will download just these from the youtube and thats all (RHIMA,JOIN ME, ROTWOAB,FUNERAL and POISON GIRL)

but in the other hand, the band members they are all already pretty rich, they are making money on concerts mostly and they dont need to worry about their career or income ...

if they want to sell more records, they should be played in the radio more often or at least.... - thats another labels fault ...... i remember when i was young there was Pretending all the time in Slovakia or Join Me ...... or ROTWOAB was ALL THE TIME everywhere when it was about to be released - well Warner/Sire made a huge promo and it worked because they were gold in the US with DL ..... ! ! !

maybe they are comfortable with this situation and they dont need to sell 500 000 copies anymore , who knows
maybe they are doing it for fun and because they love music and they dont care that much about money anymore, maybe thats why they are signed under this label , but i doubt it was a good step for the band

Maybe The End needs to do a better job of scheduling manufacturers. A major label would have enough foresight to schedule properly, and if not, enough pull to get their shit produced on time. This is what happens when you go to a shit indie label.
Title: Re: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer
Post by: 666WTLOnVinylFTW on October 29, 2014, 07:05:42 PM
^Amen.

Also, for those that want the vinyl boxset with 666 Ways To Love (they all come with it) but live overseas, check out Amazon. It's $119 instead of $109 on there, but I'd imagine the shipping would be a hell of a lot cheaper than what The End is offering. Maybe not, though. It's at least worth checking out. It comes with the USB as well. It's the same exact thing as what's on The End's store. The way The End lists both the boxset and the Diehard Bundle isn't all that clear, though. They both say limited to 2000 copies, but since the boxset comes in the Diehard Bundle, it leads me to believe there's only 2000 total between the two. Once the boxset is sold out, the Diehard Bundle will be too. So they could sell 1000 boxsets and 1000 Diehard Bundles, and that would be it for both. That just makes it even more appalling to me that it's still not sold out yet, plus the fact you can purchase the boxset elsewhere besides directly from the label. The reason the Diehard Bundle is so expensive to ship overseas, though, is because besides the ridiculous shipping prices over there in general, you're getting 13 vinyls and 8 CDs. That's a lot of shit. Not exactly worth it after the shipping, though, but not necessary to get 666 Ways To Love. The vinyls are just the regular black vinyls without the bonus tracks in the boxset, though.

The new shitty label is a big part of the band's declining popularity, but there's also several other factors like Bam Margera/Jackass/Viva La Bam no longer being on TV all the time and being popular anymore, the whole emo scene that the band was lumped into has pretty much died in favor of the hardcore scene, as well as people just simply growing up and growing out of the music. There's a whole new generation of HIM fans that aren't being reached, though. Things could be a hell of a lot better than they currently are with a better label that knows how to market and promote the band to reach potential fans, instead of just relying on a Facebook page that is only liked and paid attention to by current fans. At the end of the day, though, a lot of HIM fans were only fans because of people like Bam Margera or because they were a cool band to like because of the whole scene, both the emo and the skateboarding scenes. Some of those people grew into becoming true fans that are still fans today, but a lot of others moved on once it was no longer popular or cool. I still can't believe there aren't more fans today, though. What happened to the fans that just genuinely enjoyed the music? Are they too old now and have too many other priorities to take care of the follow the band like they used to and spend their money on them? It just boggles my mind to try and figure out where everyone went despite all of what I just listed.

Their lack of not doing any actual promoting doesn't help either. They expect people on the internet to do it for them. (Ville said it himself.) Other bands communicate with their fans through social networks, but they want to be all mysterious. Times have changed. That doesn't work anymore. They are partially to blame for their declining popularity.

Agreed on the DR values, I really hope the remastering does justice to the original recordings. Though it's highly unlikely that the mastering on the CDs will be respectable, given current trends. Hopefully the records will sound good though.

Oh, and, the plural of vinyl is vinyl, guys ;)

Then you won't be buying it. The whole point of this was to make another push to give the older material a proper release in America. Everyone gets pissy about this set only being released in North America. SORRY. It's being released by their US label for the US market in an attempt to gain/regain some audience here. It's the same way with every limited edition version that came out in Europe only for YEARS. Now, we get something of our own from these older albums. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the bonus tracks all get cobbled together into an "Uneasy Listening" style release for the ROTW after a period of time.

this could be just a trick to sell some more copies as a Christmas present.

This was my immediate first thought. I honestly doubt it's actually limited to 2000 copies at this point...

If they want to stay independent, I'd much prefer to see them sign with Nuclear Blast or Napalm. At least those labels seem to make an effort.

Albums are up on iTunes. Checking out the samples now, but not buying them.

Beyond Redemption is the coolest so far, in my opinion. Sucks that some of the songs that looked like they were fully unreleased from the name are versions we already have. Just judging by the samples, I Love You is the same version on Uneasy Listening Vol. 2 and Pretending is the Comic Pope version except shorter and possibly remixed just a bit. Been awhile since I listened to that version.

I'm digging the new DSBH tracks, Lose You Tonight, Pretending Trnsfrm version and Please Don't Let It Go are greatness!
I REALLY need someone to  buy these for us. I've already bought the diehard bundle twice, I ain't spending more money, lol!

I Love You is different, but not by much. There's some keyboard/atmosphere going on in the chorus. It could just be the fact that the UL2 version was horribly mixed with the bass way up so you just couldn't pick out those details the first time out.

I hear that now with my headphones on. Fired up the Uneasy Listening version to compare, and you can faintly hear the keyboards in the background now that you know they're there and you listen very closely. I never noticed them before until now. Definitely a much improved mix.

Anyone have luck yet finding a torrent or download link? I found this website: https://www.junodownload.com/rock-music/today/releases/?show_tracks=all. (https://www.junodownload.com/rock-music/today/releases/?show_tracks=all.) If you scroll down, the re-issues will be there. You can only listen to the songs 30 seconds at a time, but you can start at the beginning and then click where the first 30 seconds left off to listen to the entire thing. It's kind of a pain, but better than nothing right now to hear any of the full songs you want to hear. Still blows my mind that Love's Requiem is backwards. How could they release something like that?

What is this madness? The acoustic version of The Sacrament isn't even acoustic at all on Spotify! Buried Alive By Love and The Funeral Of Hearts on the actual album portion are the live Finnvox versions from Tears On Tape! What the hell is going on? Lol.

I like how Ville sings "don't show her you're afraid" on Circle Of Fear. Beyond Redemption still takes the cake for me out of everything. Then again, there's a reason I have it tattooed on my arm, so maybe I'm biased.

I always have to mess with And Love Said No and Solitary Man because half the time Spotify tells me my files aren't supported but I just delete it and put it back on the list again and then it works. It also seems to do weird things with my Heartache Every Moment and It's All Tears. Probably due to my iTunes files. Although I have other HIM stuff from iTunes that doesn't do wonky things so I have no idea what it is doing....

He's gonna love the backwards Love's Requiem once he hears it! Really adds a new dimension to the song. I hope they play the backwards version live if they ever play the song again. I'm kind of upset that all we have is the boring normal live version to listen to.

And now, after hearing every demo type versions except Don't Close Your Heart, In Joy and Sorrow and Heartache Every Moment (I really wish they would've released the demos for those too  :() and I can totally understand why they don't really like the album, because what they wanted is better than the album released. And totally different. Would've been a Hell of an album, and experimental as fuck.

And on This Fortress of Tears, I hear the lyrics "This fortress of shame, I've stole from pain, just for you" I'm not sure about the "I've stole from pain" part. Might be stored from pain also.

just finished listening, thoughts:

GLS: As assumed, nothing all that excited on
RBR: Overall, just alot of really nice layering and new backing vox. I always love the subtleties in their songs, so new twists are welcomed.  Loved Ville's "woo woo" after the first verse in Death Is In Love With Us. Can't think of any other live versions he's done it that way.
DSBH: 'Lose You Tonight' is definitely the highlight. Has that 'Caravan style'. I think it's super neat that there are now 3 unique styles of 'PDLIG' Shows how much that song has had to evolve. Curious in the linear notes to see who the lady doing backing vox on 'LYLID' is
LM: Goes without saying, LM demos have always been amazing. So any alt takes from those sessions goes to the tops in my books. Fortress stood out there big time especially since that's one of the few from this release that changed alot of the lyrics.

Still think I'll just buy the CD bundle if Santa doesn't come through for me. I don't think the vinyl is necessary since I have the ALSN Box set and I never listen to vinyl

Release dates haven't changed...I think Amazon is just having to wait for a secondary pressing before they get their copies. Although, The End still hasn't sent any email confirmations. No way in hell this thing is arriving before X-mas. Which pisses me off cos this is my Xmas gift to myself. I was gonna wrap it and open it on xmas morning with the family so everyone can see ALL THE HIM.

Love's Requiem (VRPN) is really disappointing.   You can't make out the words at all... it sounds like i'm rewinding it or something.

If you haven't figured it out yet, Love's Requiem is backwards.

Hey, does anyone know why in the actual fuck the acoustic live of It's All Tears sounds like complete shit compared to the version on the Join Me single? Same goes for the acoustic For You. Did they forget these were released already...and sounding way better?

yeah that was the first noticable thing that these versions sounds like crap
well the only good shit on greatest lovesongs vol 666 bonus disc is : The Heartless acoustic 2014 "pascha", probably your sweet 666 live from Helldone 2013, the rest we already had .... but they said that we will have something never released before... so when we had Its All Tears and For You unplugged early in good quality from singles they had to stand their word so they released shit quality versions, so they are never released before, ... we never had this lousy shit versions of these two  ;D

Maaan, I was really hoping it was spotify having a shit upload of them or something. I guess they "Remixed" them to a muddy pile of shit and called it new. Jeeeez.. Also, Love's Requiem (VRPN) makes no sense to me at all. Fuck.

Has anyone actually emailed them and ask about those two things?

1. The already released Acoustic versions of "It's All Tears" and "For You", this time coming from an obvious analog source like a tape copy although we had them in pristine quality before.
2. The reversed version of "Love's Requiem" that really makes no sense like this.

I'd really like to hear what they have to say about this.

Yesterday, I received the codes to download the re-mastered versions of the albums reissued too. I was surprised to have the VRPN version of "Love's Requiem" in the zip file (supposed to be in the USB drive only).

But I just can't listen to that song. It's like two songs are played in the same time and I don't understand a word. This is weird...

Honestly, I'm disappointed with the bonus tracks, a lot of them don't seem "never released before":
"Endless Dark" is really similar to the 616 version we have on the UL Vol 2.
"Close to the Flame", "Again", "It's all Tears", "I love You", all sound familiar to me.
However, there are good ones for the LM bonus tracks!
The live versions for GLS are enjoyable :)
"The Heartless" is interesting.
Looks like I was expecting too much (once again) :(

In the end, I am sooooo thankful to the leaker of the "Slippery When Dead" demo, I think I love this guy :P
This is the best thing I've heard from HIM in a while!

I'd love to know what the deal is with Love's Requiem too. To let a song that's freaking backwards slip onto a release is a pretty big fuck up and embarrassing for both the band and the record company. It's a pretty big deal. I don't think there's an excuse in the world that would make sense to me, but I'd love to see what they come up with if they're even willing to comment on it. There's no way in hell it's supposed to be like that. Also, if someone does email or Facebook them or fax them or whatever, please check and see if it would be possible if we could get some more bonus tracks as an apology for such a clusterfuck of a release and to make up for the ones that have already been released before. That's just a joke, obviously, but damned if I'm not being serious at the same time.

almost all the live versions (except for your sweet 666 from helldone) we already had for ages

I am not a bootleg maniac so I listen to the official releases only (and the SWD demo now).  This is why I truly enjoy the live tracks from GLS Vol.666 :)

Thanks for the information regarding "I Love You", I must compare the two versions because I listened to the 33 bonus tracks quickly yesterday evening.  And a lot doesn't seem new to me.

If I knew before about the "never released" joke, I would only buy LM (awesome Vinnfox Relics) and GLS Vol.666 reissues for their bonus tracks...

I'm wondering why people are not appreciating the PRCX versions of "Resurrection" & "Join Me In Death", those are clearly DEMO versions we didn't have before, recorded after the recently leaked "SWD" demo and before the band visited Rockfield studios to record the final version of Razorblade Romance.
Even the "Strongroom" versions are different in the way they are mixed, those are nice to have as well because they are early mixes.

This is the best thing I've heard from HIM in a while!

I'm almost certain that Endless Dark (616) is the same track as the Finnvox Version. Perhaps though, on Uneasy Listening they may have remixed it a little bit to make it a touch heavier for that release. Or just cranked the volume cause ULvol.2 is loud as fuck.

Also, the (TRNSFRMTN) version of I Love You, sounds like the same track as (The Whitehouse Version). It sounds like they further produced and mixed it from the 'demo' point. I also think that (The Whitehouse Version) was skewed from the initial mix to fit ULvol.2 better.

Same thing for Pretending (TRNSFRMTN). It is a more produced and mixed version of (The Cosmic Pope Jam Version). Which when they recorded the bed-tracks for, they did the extended jam as to have a studio fade-out. So now we have both of those 'demo' versions.

The 616 Version was simply a label given to the heavier, more raw sounding versions of their songs.

The Hollola Tapes are really nice. Close to the Flame was released as (The Rappula Tapes) but is no different.. again, maybe subtleties for Uneasy Listening. But Rappula/Petrax studio, Hollola, Finnland. was the studio where they demo'd Deep Shadows.
Beautiful (616) is from these sessions*

It is re-mastered for sure with the album. but I don't consider that a reason to re-title the track. The whole album was remastered. It should have been put naturally after The Path, as the Ltd. Ed. originally had it. And if it is supposed to suffice as a bonus track, it should have been put on the bonus disc, you would think..

New DR values:

Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 - 5 (Original was 6)
Razorblade Romance - 5 (Original was 6)
Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights - 5 (Original was 6)
Love Metal - 6 (Original was 7)

Quite the pattern there. Going from already bad to even worse on every album.

there could be more demos anyway, i dont see any reason of putting 2013 and 2014 live versions on the reissues of the old albums from 1996-2003). If they wanted to put some live versions they should have used the versions from old tours like The Funeral OF hearts from 2003 or 2004, When Love And Death embrace from 1997 .... etc
but the coolest thing is that they put that much bonuses on each remastered album, thats nice
and another huge + is the EP on Vinyl :)

Title: Re: The End Records - Deluxe Edition reissues coming this summer
Post by: Inferno on December 29, 2014, 03:18:08 AM
I wouldn't judge the reissues based on some theoretical number... Especially since we haven't even heard the vinyls yet. The quality of an album’s mix is largely separate from the amount of dynamic compression used. It’s possible to have a terrible sounding album with no compression at all (EXAMPLE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxpIMAdbaSM)) and its also possible to produce a good sounding but heavily compressed album. Heavy compression limits audio fidelity in an absolute sense, but it does not ruin it. What truly destroys any chance of good sound is clipping. Clipping is what happens when the recording is pushed louder than the CD can support. There is absolutely no reason to have clipping in a recording... It audibly damages the tonality of instruments.

It may be clipped on the CDs a little bit, but it won't be on the vinyls... I don't think it's even possible on the vinyls unless they press the vinyl with what they put on the CD.

it will be in Slovakia on 1/06 which is actually some Christian day off so nothing and no one is working, that means that the shop will have it like on 1/09 (friday) or 1/12 (monday) thats what it says, but i doubt that because from where i purchased it (slovak shop, its import from USA, one CD costs me 23 euros so it will be quite expensive than 44 dolars LOL , but shipping was huge, so i think its the same, or i will overpay it? nevermind its HIM i wasted more ridiculous money on HIM shits in the past LOL) it will take more probably, so i dont know if it will be in my hands until 01/23 (my name day in Slovakia)
everything is so fucking complicated

There was a ups tracking number in my email.

Mine still hasn't shipped  >:( i emailed them and said ill get a tracking number when shipped which according to thier site said it did, i ordered mine a couple days after it first went on sale they said orders are being sent by who ordered first and my patience would be greatly appreciated  >:( i might actually of still had patience if they sent it on the actual release date and thought about hes they were doing everything with this mess of only two people working on it, you'd think they'd be more prepared ir have more people working on sending it out

So...I thought the 2LPs were supposed to be heavyweight...they seem to be thinner than the single LPs. And the colors? GLS is black with a small bit of red splash....and Love Metal is like a clearish amber color with green mixed in. Oh, the silver DSBH is a dull gray with black splashes. RR is at least pink. So damn disappointed with these releases.

Are you fucking kidding me? These were supposed to be straight up RED, PINK, SILVER, and GOLD on 180 gram. I'm gonna be so goddamn pissed when I receive this...and yet, the completist pansy that I am, I will not return it or ask for a refund. lol

This whole release has been such a cluster fuck.

Just looked on Instagram and saw some of the records. One guy had a Love Metal where the center label was offset, sitting ON TOP of the actual vinyl! And those colours....

Hello everyone! I've been a fan for so many years it baffles me. Just wanted to say thanks to you guys. Stumbled on this page, found out about the reissues and got them ordered last month. It's also reignited my love for the first 4 albums, Venus Doom and all the b-sides etc. Being an audiophile, I was very excited to see that they were going to be issued on 180g wax and be remastered. Reading some of these recent reviews has me a bit worried though. I guess I'll just wait and judge myself, you know, whenever the damn thing gets here. I even paid for quicker (and much pricier) shipping. Having only two dudes in your warehouse to ship out a release of this magnitude is just dumb.

Damn.

Welcome sir.  We have some audiophiles running around here as well.  I think they're insane, but you can't tell them that.  Plus, we love them just the same. :)

Yeah i think its $119 and shipping is like $8 to the UK rather than $50. Only thing is it doesn't come out until February from amazon.

New DR values:

Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 - 5 (Original was 6)
Razorblade Romance - 5 (Original was 6)
Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights - 5 (Original was 6)
Love Metal - 6 (Original was 7)

Quite the pattern there. Going from already bad to even worse on every album.

Lowest value of any song was You Are The One with a 4.

Wow that's terrible! :-(

Whoever said the Vinyls were crap and 666WTL was crap as well is sadly mistaken. These Vinyls are amazing... Much higher quality than ANY of the previously released HIM vinyls.

My score for the bonus cds.   I do think the remastered work is excellent.

GLSV666- 4
Too much stuff we allready had.  Wlade and ys666 live are good along with heartless acoustic.  Thats it
RR- 8
Like everything on this but SWD is a million times better
DSABH- 9
Like everything about it except having two pretending remixes.
LM- 10
Perfect from start to end.

MUCH more, yes. To be specific, Love's Requiem DR is 10.
666 Ways to Love: Prologue is 11 :)

To this day, 99% HIM releases have been brickwalled. Knowing that, hopefully someone in the near future will make a proper vinyl transfer 88.2kHz 24-bit from this apparently well done vinyl release. Or maybe The End will begin selling hi-res files. Dream on... :(

I've noticed that the gold heartagram part on the crushed velvet cds have little spots in them when I touched it with a wet hand.   Wish I would have kept in in the rapper but no sense in that.

I don't see this lasting very long unless I keep the crushed velvet separate.   It's just gonna be a black slip case maybe.   It's not that bad but I would think this gold would stay on better.

Man, the more I hear/read about this release the more it seems The End Records SERIOUSLY dropped the ball on it. These reissues could've been absolutely legendary with all the stuff that's in the HIM Vaults. For example disc 2 of 'Deep Shadows' could've just been the entire album taken from the Hollola Tapes...you know, just a real "rock n roll" version of the album like the band originally intended. I was also hoping for some awesome stuff for 'Greatest Lovesongs' because those early days really interest me. Hell, if it would've been up to me, '666 Ways To Love' would've been the original 4 tracks plus the the 5 or 6 songs from the demo tapes...all remastered. That would have been amazing.

But, then again, I'm just glad to know I'll have the first 4 albums on vinyl now. Maybe 10 years from now we'll get 'Venus Doom' on vinyl. Man, that would be the day.

Happy to report that my bundle arrived.....hell, in April-ish?  Four months after ordering...what a slow, painful wait.  But I have to admit it all came as it should have - no damage, nothing missing and I got the autographed poster with all 5 members, so I'm pretty pleased.  I did not open any of the cds or the vinyl, been listening using the usb.  Bit bummed on the bonus stuff, but still nice to hear the clean tracks in the car.
