Besides, HIM've done a cover of a Neil Diamond song and they've done a cover of a Tom Jones song (Sex Bomb, I believe) so they clearly need to do a cover of a Barry Manilow song since Barry Manilow is the poor man's Tom Jones. And Tom Jones is the poor man's Neil Diamond. And, just in case you are wondering, Wayne Newton is the poor man's Barry Manilow.

Why, thank you very much! I'm glad someone out there shares my views. I'm really pulling for "Can't Smile Without You" and I always get my way so eventually they will be forced to cover it. Don't ask how, it's a mystery.

I highly recommend that you listen to Sparklehorse's cover version of "Wish You Were Here". It is really depressing and slower than before.
As for other bands playing P.F. songs, I havent heard too many good songs being done.
I heard a bootleg of S.T.P. singing "Shine On Your Crazy Diamond" and that was an ok live song even if it was with one guitar.
HIM have done too many covers, they arent doing any new songs. They are just covering the covers they did in the past. I am sure pretty soon they will do more studio tracks off the live ones they did previously.

The band i saw over the weekend did an amazing cover for another brick on the wall. they were playing Jaguares' La negra tomasa during the solo to that song they threw in another brick on the wall im sure you would liked it homer

Don't look for that. Doubt they will play that again. Since they are trying to hit it big in America i doubt they would want to play cover songs. Most people would then consider them a cover band.

They don't want to unveil anything new yet. Just the songs we've heard WOAB, Killing Loneliness, Vampire Heart and Poison Heart. Thats all i expect to hear from now till the release party.
And as i said before I figure HIM won't do any new covers on the new tour. Besides Wicked Game and Poison Heart. They don't want to be a "cover" band.

i quite like the "Rendevouz with Anus" by Turbonegro cover that HIM did.. i find it funny to hear ville singing "Spandex ass to make me kneel"... funny songs like that i'd like to hear more of. a NoFX song maybe? or Tenacious D... or perhaps interpol just because its so different.. plus ville really loves Antics.

Like they did with Wicked Game? I love that cover, so different from the Isaak version.
I still want to hear a KISS cover since HIM is so influenced by them. Appearently they did them live when first starting out, but no recording exist.

Yea, on Music from 'The Elder', the front cover is a big door ('Behind the Crimson Door') and two songs on the album are 'Under the Rose' and 'Dark Light'. Ville says that all of that was not intentional.

Just curious, I have a version of Nirvana's Lithium that was supposedly done by HIM (it's acoustic). I never really thought it was HIM because when the singer forgets the lyrics, he talks with an American accent. Another question about covers: I also have a version of Sweet Dreams that is apparently by Cradle of Filth and HIM but again, I don't hear any Ville (or Dani). I think it's labelled wrong because Bironic Man seems to be the only known Dani/Ville song.

i think the vocal range of Roger Daltrey is very similar to what Ville can do. Listen to the chorus. I can totally see(and have seen many a time) Ville sing like this. there's some fun keyboard work for burton. the guitar work is obviously very classic rock which is something linde does time and time again. those are the major points i think

nice! i think the funniest thing is that these older bands like the who (or rush) can play for 2 2 1/2 hours. but all these new bands call it quits after 1:15hr or 1:30hr. you'd think it'd be the opposite

I know this isn't their style exactly, but I think Welcome Home (Sanitarium) by Metallica would be awesome by them. Also, I think hearing them do some Johnny Cash such as I Got Stripes or Cocaine Blues would be awesome.

i honestly dont really see anymore covers comming out.
if they do...its gunna be a 'label' decision...not the bands...i just dont see them doing anymore covers for an album again...live yes...studio...not so much...
doing a cover song i think would have came out with DL if it was going to...or mayybe when the US hype dies out...the label may make them do a cover song...but other than that...i dont see it...if you dont understand my reasoning...doing a cover song is/has always been the "safe" way for the label to make sure the band gets on the charts...been doing it "since the beginning of time....5 years."

I love seeing that quite a few HIM fans like Maiden. That's interesting because I posted a thread on a Maiden forum asking if anyone liked HIM and out of over 10 replies, only 1 person said they did! It's great to see the opposite on here. I'd love to hear Ville sing some Maiden as well! And some Queensryche too. I'd love to hear him on Eyes Of A Stranger!

There's a myriad of rock songs that they could cover - and do justice to - but I think it's more fun to think about some off-the-wall other genre stuff. Here's my list of songs I'd love to hear them do:
"Everytime" by Britney Spears - They could do a great version of this. Maybe like a bit more rocking version of the Glen Hansard version.
"So Beautiful" by Darren Hayes - Maybe the time for this one would've been more like back in the Screamworks days, but I'd love to hear Ville's crooning on this track.
"Baby Baby" by The Vibrators - Okay, I'm being silly on this one. I just love how nearly all of the lyrics are "Baby" over and over.
"I'm Not In Love" by 10cc - Faster, more punk version with big guitar and a heavy, thumping bass part would be sweet.
"I Wanna Be Your Dog" by The Stooges - Would be a badass unexpected live cover.

That thing you said about Baby, Baby being your silly pick is kind of the idea of why I would like anything from Adam Lambert's Beg For Mercy album, because it has some kind of racy lyrics I would just like to hear Ville sing, I think my fav being "suck on a smoking gun". Mp3's Killed The Record Companies doesn't have anything like that but I also think it would be interesting. I just feel like the more pop like a song is the more badass it would be if they did it.

I like this list.....the Moody Blues would be a nice cover! It's so hard to pick something because I think there are a lot of songs the band could really knock out of the ball park. If I added anything to the list I would pick Duran Duran "Come Undone".

When my band performs new songs, I always try and close the show with something relative, like a cover song that everyone recognizes and we can put a new spin on it.... Decided to record a cover of The Righteous Brothers his "Unchained Melody". Here's the original version, and I only just realized that Ville would so this song some SERIOUS justice. tell me what you guys think.
