I always say that I'm not going to listen to any leaks, but then run and put a shitty copy on my iPod. I have no will power. I almost don't want to listen to the live versions that are floating around either, but that's kinda like watching Mila Kunis dance in her underwear and not doing anything either...wait, what were we talking about again?
I heard the album is coming out in spring but is there actually a set date for the release?
There was never an announced date other than "Winter 2013" which encapsulates Jan-March. If the album is pretty much done at this point, as soon as they get a deal with a label going it could easily be out by the end of winter.i bet,it will be out until the summer festivals they are playing this year

Not quite sure what to make of that link above. I got it from Tumblr, but I looked it up myself on Instagram. It's a picture of Bam carrying around two canvases with Daniel P. Carter from that BBC Radio show commenting that he's done 13 paintings himself for the new HIM album's cover art, and he wanted to do a swap with him. From looking at his (Daniel's) Instagram, he does paint and draw art. Not sure if he was being serious about doing something for the new album, though. I don't know much about the guy, so maybe it's not too far fetched an idea. Seems kinda random, though.

The titles are almost a parody of what non HIM fans think HIM songs are called. I believe in Valo, so I'm not concerned per se, but it's interesting.

After listening to the song a few times now, it's still great, but it definitely has to be a radio edit because it just feels so...abrupt, I guess? It's easy to tell there's some parts missing, and it just kinda sounds incomplete.

Well Universal Music Finland said that Into The Night will be the single. All Lips go Blue seems to be only radio single, how it was Venus Doom at the time. Venus Doom hit the radio (YLE) first or second week of august if I remember correctly, then the single released on 27 august or something (only in the internet) and then the album came 17 september.yeah, but when All Lips Go BLue is supposed to be published on CD by Kerrang, i thought it is going to be something like Live in Hell EP, but it can be on some compilation , but it is a good song !

Really disappointed that 4 of the songs truly ARE instrumental.
But they sound so obscure. I'm particularly fond of Unleash the Red. And Lucifer's Chorale sounds like the background track to a horror film.

Deep Shadows: 41:44
Dark Light: 45:19
So yes, TOT is the shortest LP, but barely. It keeps in line with most of them. For those keeping score, Love Metal is the longest, trailed by Screamworks and Venus Doom.

I think a lot of the disappointment stems from originally being excited for 13 new full-fledged HIM songs, but the album's still short no matter how you look at it, and it's definitely somewhat of a disappointment to me.
These instrumental parts are very familiar with those from Saint Scream. Probably VV made them using his rare expensive gadget back in his tower..

My S3 has been flawless since the day I got it. The wonderful thing about android is that it's open. So while the applications it came with (Not google's fault btw) may not fit your taste there are thousands of other apps on the play store to choose from and because of the openness apps are capable of so much. I, on the other hand, absolutely hate the atrocity that is iTunes... Such a shitty program and the fact the you're forced to use it for everything keeps me far away from any apple product. I couldn't stand the operating system, yes there were some nice things about it but so damn glitchy and even using double twist I did not like the way the media stuff was integrated. It's like they tried to out do the features of iPhone but did it half ass. If they could of made those features work as well and smooth as the iPhone does what it does could've really been great. But I love my iTunes and iTunes Match way too much had to go back. Wish Pple would free up ios a little bit though so you could download from the stock browser and import files into iTunes from your downloads then it would be perfect.

Guys it's a gimmick... don't buy into that bullshit. Only way to increase audio quality is to improve the audio/file itself. CDs can only hold so much data and unless they actually used more data than the original CDs then there's no difference. Can't really increase the size available on a CD without breaking compatibility with CD drives either.
The ONLY thing I can see being beneficial about that CD is that it may be a lot more durable... that's it.

The Fanpack is worth it for the magazine alone. I don't know why I keep seeing people wanting to cancel their pre-order of it. Even if it doesn't contain the "definitive" version of the album, it's still a pretty good deal in my opinion.

Apparently, the other listeners live disc in his own world, as many people have their eyes closed.
The disc was listening to the seven semi -familiar with the program Marja Hintikka . There will exist Hintikka's view, the first disc is the atmosphere.
- Are your favorite songs When Love Starts to Die and Into the Night . They spring from the Millennium pre tags. This has me a little fan of this kind of meeting. I remember very well when their first album came out, and the band has been to me relevant. Anyhoo, bad jokes aside, in the middle of recording some Devilment drum tracks at the moment, which are sounding fab! Also, believe it or not, I have written an intro for the new Metal Hammer HIM special ( by special request of my chum Ville ) and a four page article on original Black Metal for a Terroriser special edition out mid-April.

In the cover there's Tears on Tape, on the skull there's All Lips Go Blue. So there will be a gallery of 12 pictures more or less.

I gave this album a lot of shit in the past for being too short. Now that I've heard it, I can't think of a single flaw. Love Metal had a terrible production too, the drums were so fcking terrible.
Razorblade, Venus Doom and TOT have great production. With this album I can admire all the instruments.
TOT was pretty damn good, now it's time for WrestleMania.

I also think it's really cool to hear WLADE and JM recorded with burton on keyboards... he's much better than zulton.

I didn't dislike Screamworks...as a whole I liked it better than Dark Light, although the songs I liked off Dark Light I liked more than the ones off Screamworks, if that makes any sense. So far TOT is up there with Venus Doom and Love Metal for me.
All I can say is: Better than Screamworks.Most definitely...I really didn't like screamworks at all. TOT continues to grow on me the more I hear it. It, and love metal are my numbers 1 and 2.

I agree with whoever said these are Ville's weakest lyrics to date. And I also agree with Linde and Burton being underused.
I wish Linde had solos on nearly every track again. Love Metal had his best solos ever (especially This Fortress Of Tears). And I wish Burton had more keyboard hooks in the same vain as The Sacrament, Heartache Every Moment, Beyond Redemption etc.
Overall, I love this album. I just can't listen to Drawn & Quartered. Biggest throwaway track on the album for me.
We can at least be thankful that they haven't made a "Some Kind of Monster" documentary that requires them to get a therapist involved in the album making process. :)
I really like Unleash the Red, but I wish it would have been fleshed out a bit more. I love that riff when it really kicks in, and then it just stops. Maybe it'll be a live jam of sorts on the tour. The other instrumentals I could do without.

I enjoyed reading all reviews and want to give my five cents as well. probably I'm saying the same thing with every new realease...I don't think you do any good trying to compare and rank albums. it's again that golden HIM sound that I love and at the same time something new. In it's whole I really enjoy it from start to end...and that's how I like to see it - as a simple piece of art that the guys did this way by intention. That's why you as the listener will only lose if you have specific expectations such as a certain number of tracks, a certain overall duration, more solos, more poetic language and so on. By the way I don't think a lack of solos would leave Linde or Burton unfulfilled - I'd imagine they both enjoy that album a lot - and it's about the sound of the band not individual interests. Also I hear some of the most amazing riffs, keyboards and vocals in this album that HIM ever did. :) Hope that might be a little disappointed or were expecting something different get more into it with a couple more listenings.

I love how everyone here "knows their music" and "loves black sabbath" etc, yet you don't appreciate Lucifer's Chorale? That "song" is fucking genious, noises and all. And to the people saying the instrumentals cut the flow of the album; what the fuck are you people talking about? They're perfect transitions between songs. I know we can't all agree on the same opinion, but wtf?
It's HIM. Be happy Gas healed and they recorded something. And here's hoping this album gets a proper recognition so we get more albums in the future.

Listened a few more times today. It's now sounding like a less-poppy Dark Light. Not in a bad way, but the song structure and vocals sound the same as many of the songs on that album. To me, it sounds like it was recorded in 2006, right in between Dark Light and Venus Doom. The distortion Linde is using sounds like it's from VD, and the keyboards and vocals sound like they're from Dark Light.
Anyone else agree or am I crazy?

I actually prefer the Finnvox version more than the studio version.
I see the Live in Hel. as a sign of new beginnings and a tribute to their fans as a token of appreciation for sticking with them through what was probably a shitty era for them (As far as record labels are concerned). It wasn't meant to promote or try the sell the band at all... There's a reason why it's only included in the "FAN" pack. And honestly... How many other bands can record something such as this live and sound as good? There are many bands whose singers sound great on the albums, but perform horribly live.

Yeah, you'll get it WAY faster with Amazon, probably a week-10 days depending on where you are. The fan packs took two-three weeks. The bag isn't anything special, but if you're concerned about getting the card...frankly, I wasn't in it for that either, it just worked out in my favor!It's a little draw string bag. I was really upset when I discovered my DVD had only 5 of the 7 tracks. I guess I have to buy the Finnish Edition. Anyone have a recommendation on the best online store to buy this from if I'm shipping to the US?
I emailed them and asked what's up, only because my order status on the website was still just showing the date that I originally pre-ordered it on, February 15th, and it was already a few days into May, so I was beginning to become worried about it. I wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem with my credit card or something, because there were no other details about it. Finally, they updated the status on the website to dispatched on April 29th. I later received an email back from them, after many more days of waiting, and they told me it was send on the 24th. I have no idea which one it actually was, but I still feel like I should've gotten it by now regardless.
Still no Fanpack. I think it'll arrive once heartagram.com is finished, which is never.
It's the next day, and I'm getting ready to go check the mail. Wish me luck.

At this point, I'd rather just get a refund and re-order it somewhere else, especially since they're sending empty packages now apparently. Worst fucking company in the world. My name probably isn't even on the poster since my order is all fucked up.
I ordered a CD from fucking Japan on eBay and it got here in a week. There's no excuse a package from a legitimate company in the UK should take this long to get here.

Exactly! The people bitching that theirs was tampered with and that's why they didn't get a card are just jealous and have a poor understanding of statistics. Also, from my understanding, if customs goes through a package they have to label it as such.
