Ok so what we know, HIM will perform at:
Maxidrom festival 2013  -  12th of June 2013 -  http://www.maxidrom.ru/ (http://www.maxidrom.ru/)   .... actually there is some FM radio so hopefully they will be streaming it at least by this radio, so that could be captured on nice soundboard audio bootleg!

Download festival 2013 - 14.-16. June 2013

Nova Rock Festival 2013 - Austria, - 14.-16. June 2013

is anyone attending any of these?

You probably saw what RHCP did, http://www.livechilipeppers.com/ (http://www.livechilipeppers.com/)  this is what HIM should do! that would be awesome

6. July 2013 Ruisrock Festival , Finland
26.,27. July 2013 - Qstock festival, Finland

31.5 - 2.6. 2013 - Ursynalia Festival, Warsaw , Poland http://www.ursynalia.pl/line-up (http://www.ursynalia.pl/line-up)

I've actually never recorded a full show before. Any tips on what equipment to use?

Btw, what the RHCP did is awesome ;D Really wish HIM could get their finger out of their ass and do something like that

i dont know what do you have  ;D video camera, camera, audio recorder, cell phone with camera  :D and dont tape only villes face and Ville   ;D ;D
the best thing nowadays are those smartphones, they have really nice cameras with 5, 8 and more Megapixels and if you have battery charged to the fullest, you can tape maybe one and half hour of video in one piece, or maybe more just songs without Villes talking in HD!  , you just find some nice place to stand and "sacrifice" the whole gig because you are only taping it and not enjoying it,but you can watch it or listen to it XXXXX times after its over
and what is even better is that now almost on every concert, and at every festival there are that huge screens for the people that are too far from the stage to see, and there is the whole gig broadcasted profi-like, so the best thing would be really to find a place where are no crazy girls screaming ;D and point it at that big screen and push the "record" button  ;D

I always thought about taping the shows I went to before I went to them. In the end, though, I came to the conclusion that it would be too expensive to buy the equipment I would need to make a recording that I would be satisfied with. Besides that, I always wait outside for at least ten to twelve hours before the doors open, just so I can get a spot up front right in the middle and really enjoy the show. There was only one show I went to where I didn't get a spot in the first row, because of the venue having multiple doors to let people onto the floor, which meant people that had only been standing outside for five minutes had just as much a chance at the first row as I did. Needless to say, that front row filled up quick with how many doors and people there were waiting behind them. I was pissed and didn't wanna settle for second row, so I went up to the balcony. Wasn't fun at all. Should've just taken my second row and pushed my way to the front. Thinking back, though, it would've been the perfect opportunity to record the show. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything to capture it with at that time.

Trust me, i HATE seeing video's where the person only films Ville. I enjoy watching every member of the band ;D
Sometimes i wish festival taped the shit they are filming on the big screen. Because a lot of the times its really cool camera angles and stuff. Seems like a "waste" of time if you understand what i mean, hehe

Most, if not all festivals, do. If they have cameras, it's being taped. It just might never be released in any form, but the footage is archived. The band, I'm sure, can request to have it if they want.

taping from first row and overal from "too close to the stage" sucks.... the best amateur bootlegs are from balcony or from the stairs or something like that, the worst are from the "pit" you know there are so many screaming from the fans that you are unable to recognize Villes voice at all , or if you are too close to the stage there is the biggest loudness so if you dont have really expensive equipment your bootleg will suck because of the loud volume is so high that you cant actually hear shit only monotone noise

That's why I don't think I'll ever tape a HIM show. A band I don't care as much about, possibly, if I had the right equipment, but I go to HIM shows to be right up front and center, to enjoy and get the best experience. I don't have fun any other way. The time I settled for the balcony was the worst HIM show I ever went to. I couldn't enjoy it from up there.

of course the best possible way you can enjoy any gig is just to be crazy in the pit
i remember when i was on HIM back in 2005, it was boring show because it was like you know  they just came, played and than left, they looked very tired, bad mood also, Ville didnt talk to the audience , but i enjoyed it like hell :-D and the best shit was that they played poison heart and me as a Ramones fan i knew that song so i was really excited and really surprised when they started to play it , so i sang it along and no one around me in the audience didnt know what they were playing so everyone was just staring at me so wondered what song it is and why i know it :-D
but now if HIM came back again to Slovakia, i would just go loaded with equipment to the best possible place and i would tape it  :D

You know, I took my FlipCam into the Megadeth show I went to a while back and just filmed a song for fun.  The sound came out remarkably good.  I was off to the left, so the video itself wasn't that great.

I always take my Panasonic Lumix ZS7 to shows with me. It's just a point and shoot camera that takes AVCHD video. My husband has an older model, the Panasonic Lumix ZS3, also takes AVCHD video. Since its a Point and shoot camera security doesn't care.
I post all of my videos on Youtube . Here's a couple with the zs7.

Marilyn Manson Pistol Whipped -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho0Vm1WkbS4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho0Vm1WkbS4)
Bella Morte - Find Forever Gone - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u35cMrTBAoU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u35cMrTBAoU)
Cradle of Filth - Ghost and the Fog - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqIKW1nZnuE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqIKW1nZnuE)

Hopefully they tour the USA in 2013! cant wait to see them again!

Shouldn't this mean we should be getting a website now? I mean, it would be nice if the official website actually listed the tour dates...

Last week Rock am ring announced (probably) the last bands for the festival, and HIM are not in the list... which is strange because the US tour finish on 12 may and they will play on NOVA Rock 14 june so they should have time to visit RaR... Or there will be more US dates which are not confirmed yet..

There are two reasons

1. If the band play on RAR - for first time we'll get FULL concert in HD of the band.
2. For first time in my life i'll be close enough and able to see the band on such a huge festival.

However all festivals are the same....rar, download, nova rock, ruisrock. it doesnt metter... all the same bands through the years. But only RAR give us PRO SHOT video in the last 5-6 years...

thats all..that was my reason to looking forward for this festival  ::)

i am used to it, there is someone who hates me badly
i remember i recieved more than -20 smites in two days ,just for fun from some hater  :D

if everyone who downloaded my upload of some live bootleg gave me an applaud just because of "THANK YOU"....   my karma would be really huge and deserved, but no.... fuck me
only 201 applauds.... it is funny and stupid.  and that   -52 is probably just because of "fuck me"

but when i get pissed off i will fucking delete all the bootlegs that i shared and i wont upload or reupload anything ever again, because those unkind haters and trolls deserves it

i would rather take amateur recording of HIM regular show at some venue filled with only HIM fans, with stunning atmosphere and with at least 90 minutes long setlist with 16 songs
comparing it to the festivals with only 60 minutes with boring setlist of 10songs ,with bored crowd but with proshot video ,i would still take that amateur recording of regular tour show , my opinion
now smite me because i have different opinion.....fuck the logic

Why do we have to choose when we can have them both? All people are different...some like this..some like that. I prefer RaR 2005, you prefer amateur recording of HIM regular show...

With all this technology in the next years we'll be able to watch full HIM concerts sometimes probably in the same night. One click on youtube and thats all...

I prefer to watch the band on pro shot clips with all different camera views and stuff like that... and thats all..nothing personal...but thats something which doesnt happen very often after 2000 tour.

About the karma there should be a log file or at least an extension for the SMF board system which shows applauds and smites votes... so check there or talk with the admins  to see who are the haters  and why they are doing this...

to make things clear, i dont really care about that karma shit, because it is stupid
i dont wanna know who smites ,who applauds, who cares? i dont
i just dont get the whole karma shit, smiting because someone has different opinion is silly, it is like i would punch someone in the nose jsut because he has blue T-shirt and i prefer Green one.... silly i respect every opinion i love all HIM fans here
.... it is ok when you smite spammer or dumb post with only emoticon in it and nothing else
but we are all HIM fans, we are connected because of HIM, we should be more polite to each other

and i prefer Rock Am Ring 2005 too because i love 2005 year, i dont know why , even though the sound on RaR2005 is not good, i like that show , i like every 2005 show, it is a shame that there is not so many video bootlegs from 2005
i would kill for Milan 2005 DVD or some video from some US tour show in late 2005

to the topic: i hope they will announce more dates , especially some Europe dates i dont count summer festivals as a tour

You, me and Inferno can totally date...I mean, go on a date.  I mean....oh boy is this awkward now...uhhh...Yeah, they should totally come to Texas though. :)

616, what's up man? The karma thing means nothing.  It's similar to the "Like" on Facebook.  It means nothing.  People get smite all of the time, why? Who knows.  The same thing with the applause, it means nothing.  I could set them all to 0 or 999999999999.  Kind of like when we pimp someone out with "666"  It's just fun.  Don't worry about it.

Probably gonna be at the New York show, but hoping they'll come closer to Boston so I don't have to travel as far.

Very happy about all the new, yet minimal, activity that the band has had in the last week  ;D

I'm on another very large board that runs SMF, after a while admins just removed karma points because people abused it. The place is much better now

Love that LA is first on the list!! Not going to have much time to memorize ToT but who care, NEW HIM TOUR!

Is it just me, or do tickets seem really expensive this time around given the small venue size?

Jay, some people take karma seriously. Not sure why, it's the internet. Personally, I use only the +1 when people do or say something extraordinary. Unforntuely when people voice their opinions on message boards and someone(s) don't agree with it, instead of carrying on a meaningful civil debate, they just smite them as a cop out way to prove a point.

It appears that they are going back to basics so to speak, this time around. Let's not focus all our time on one territory and let's get the word out to as many places as possible. Hell, you start hearing that HIM tickets sell out in minutes for an entire tour and guess what, instant recognition...which will pave the way for more.

So i picked up the latest issue of "Kerrang" and in the gig section there is a large picture of Ville singing and it say's how HIM are playing at Dingwalls, even though it sold out within minutes. I think this is a punch in the nads for people who were too slow like me haha. I mean, why advertise a sold out concert?

Not to say you are at all in the wrong Lenny. If anything, I hate when you construct a long well crafted message and all they say is 2 words. It really makes them appear a lot less human. But I'm sure they just aren't going to give anyone details to tour schedules because then everyone would email them all the time with "are they going to play my city"

I bet if you emailed Kerri 2 days ago when there was only 1 NY date and asked if they are playing 2 nights in NY, you would have still received the same "this is all that is planned" response as well. Even though THEY KNOW they have more dates planned.

Half of me is excited as fuck to go to the show in Chicago, but the other half is absolutely dreading having to sit outside for hours upon hours and listen to a bunch of teenage girls/middle aged moms talk about how sexy Ville is while showing off their gifts they brought to throw on stage to him. I shit you not (no pun intended) I once saw a chick bring a pair of tighty whities stained with chocolate on the ass with her. How fucking immature do you have to be to come up with that idea? It's so uncomfortable and embarrassing being around those people.

"Hey bro, you wanna go to the HIM show with me?"
"Nah, man, I have bad memories of middle school."

That reminds me of when I went to a show in Ft. Worth.  I had on that shirt with Ville's face with the glowing eyes.  I went to a convenience store to use the bathroom and there were these girls (underage) and they screamed and started rubbing Ville's face.  I had to tell them to back up as I was 25 or so at the time...

I really hope they'll tour Europe, Italy in particular. The last time they were here was in 2007, the first and only time I saw them live. Nice concert, apart for prepubescent girls screaming and crying (some of them were followed by their mothers, who spent the whole concert commenting on Linde's t-shirt - drei Kartoffeln, remember?).

lol that is funny.   I only bought two versions and I can't do anymore.

I was thinking about the tot songs they will play and it would have to be (not talking instrumentals) :

Singles:
Tears On Tape
Into the Night
All Lips Go Blue

I Will Be The End Of You (played in Turku/Helldone)

No Love ?
When Love Starts To Die ?

I don't see them playing hearts at war, drawn and quartered or love without tears but I could be wrong.
Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: six6sixways2love on April 18, 2013, 04:33:46 AM
HIM has always done that with signing and they arent the only one's to do so. Such a shady way to boost record sales. You should be able to bring any of the 5 million versions of ToT to gain entry.

I'm debating if I even want to bother with the signing. I knew last time, it took hourssssss to get through the line, and some people were almost late to the concert. I've been listening to the band for 10+ years and STILL have never met the guys. I want to meet them to tell them thank you for so much more than just making good music. But I think it all plays out better in my head than it would in reality. Also, I want Ville, Linde, and Mige to sign my 666wtl cd, and see if Gas will sign a Kyyria album for me. Burton, maybe if I had a Suburban Tribe album, but he gets left out
Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: Inferno on April 18, 2013, 09:12:49 AM
I really don't think it's them trying to boost record sales. I think it's more about the store wanting to that, but making you purchase the album for entry has it's benefits... Imagine if anyone was allowed to get in line, it'd be huge.
Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: Jay on April 18, 2013, 12:17:58 PM
I agree that this is likely the store's doing.  There always has to be some selective process, and the line will be huge regardless.  If you want to be a scumbag, you could always lie about an illness or something.

Buy the CD, get it signed, then take one of your multitudes of sealed copies you've already bought and return one of them using the receipt.  Barcodes are the same as long as it's a US version.

All Lips go blue
Buried alive by love
Wings of a butterfly
Right here in my arms
Kiss of Dawn
Love without tears
Join me
Your sweet 666
Passions killing floor
Tears in tape
Wicked game
It's all tears
Soul on fire
Into the night
Funeral of hearts
When love and death embrace

It was an awesome concert :) amazing sound as always extremely loud and heavy. Hard to describe in words. Ville was in really good voice. Though he didn't really talked much but played acoustic guitar to nearly every single song. All in all I'm really satisfied. they did some nice changes to the setlist and i was pleasantly surprised that they also played Passion's Killing Floor again. The only thing I missed was "I will be the end of you" but they played 4 new tracks and "Hearts At War" really amazing live. I also got more into "Into The Night" :D which sounds tons better live than on the album. And "Tears On Tape" after "Passion's Killing Floor" was a nice combo too with the transition and so on.

I'm so glad they are back after 3 years and it was a great start i guess.

I made some videos with my phone but unfortunately I'm terrible at filming while "banging" to the music and beeing completely in trance  ;D .
Also i had a hard time doing it because i stood in the front row just in front of Linde and next to me a security person :/ Always looking mad at me. :D because i was waving around with my phone :D.

Anyways better than nothing i just wanted to have something after the concert for remembrance .:)

Will post them tomorrow i guess.

I think I've said it before, but they should ban all mobile phones from concerts. It's nice to be able to go on YouTube a few hours after the show is over and watch a couple of videos, but I want a nice audio recording like Starland Ballroom in 2004, or a DVD like TLA that same year. Is that too much to ask?!

Just got back from Berlin. Sweet show. Was my 20th HIM gig and definately in the Top 5 of all the one's I've seen. The band played loud and really tight, great sound, Valo was sober and sang very well. They just came, tore the place down and left. How it should be!  ;D

Buried Alive By Love
Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly

THOSE. IDIOTS.

I think we can retire Wicked Game and Wings ofa Butterfly. Play Pretending and In The Arms of Rain.

Oh well, WLADE back in rotation makes me a happy Nny

Add YS666 to the retire list. Lets get some fresh old tracks in rotation! They brought Bury Me back in 2010 briefly, would like to see it again.

i agree - wings of a butterfly and wicked game should be off + buried alive by love
but wicked game was played on every gig, it is the song that made them famous ,they will play it on every concert
i dont know why they arent playing DSBH songs, now when Ville is playing on guitar i would like to hear Please dont let it go
i hope they will change their setlist on every show, because i hate that same setlist for the whole tour .... the same songs.... it sucks

I think that was a great setlist.   They brought back passion's killing floor and sleepwalking past hope from VD and played when love and death embrace.   That is a better set than the previous screamworks sets.  I also didn't recall ys666 played much in 10'

And yes please don't let it go would be awesome with Valo on the acoustic

Just got home from London. Amazing gig. They are truly the tightest band I've ever seen play together live. Like everybody else, I wish the setlist was more varied but I can't complain. I heard When Love And Death Embrace and a whole load of other songs I didn't hear when I last saw them in 2004. Other than singing, the crowd seemed absolutely dead. No movement at all. I looked around all over the place and everybody was just standing there. Very nearly met the guys before the gig but they were insanely late for their soundcheck so they had to go straight in (which I was expecting).

Overall, one of the best bands I've ever seen live. If not, THE best. They played absolutely amazingly and the chemistry between them all was great to see (Half of Mige's setlist missing and Ville asking him if he ate it. Linde and Mige constantly laughing with eachother).

Also, one more thing to anybody who went. Do you know if Lee Dorrian was actually there in the end? I heard Ville talk about him onstage and saying he might've been there but I didn't see him around.

I know William Control (aka William Francis from Aiden) was there. He posted picture of him and Ville on Instagram before the gig. And you can see him on the left part of the stage in this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r64H6evDUbA#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r64H6evDUbA#ws)
I suppose many of their friends was there. Dan P. Carter tweeted: "HIM in Camden tonight with the Mrs. Went into @FancyNancyCakes earlier and finished a Vegan Chocolate Ganache cake for Mige. #verymetal". Photographer John McMurtrie wrote on his facebook page: "'Tears on Tape' - Finally released! Brilliant show last night at Dingwalls!". I'm sure Lee Dorian was there too.

Starting to think you're right about the relapse. HOB called me to let me know the show was cancelled due to a sickness, and to contact the band directly for more information because they didn't know and/or couldn't say. Why are they being so secretive about it if it's just an asthma attack?

"Recently, here in LA, there were intense forest fires, which affected the air quality. Ville's doctor believed the smoke contributed to his asthma attack", says Vesterinen.

To calm the concerns in the minds of HIM's fans, Vesterinen said that Ville is already on the mend. "Ville is going on medication, and he should be much better soon, so do not worry".

I'm definitely going with the standing area.  It's a small venue, and is pretty nice.  Plus I don't feel like spending the extra money :)

I'm gonna be bummed if they don't do their own tour after this Rock of Allegiance thing. I'm only going to the Atlanta show.... but now seeing all these new dates it makes me want to travel - but seriously, it's not even going to be worth it for them to play what, an hour? Guess I'll have to live through the reviews that everyone else posts.  ;D

Set list from yesterday their set lists are kind of disappointing only playing 4 out of the 9 proper songs on the new album and not including love without tears  :'(
Title: Re: 2013 Tour

they actually played Buried Alive By Love too as a second song
and yes their setlist is kinda boring ,the same song over and over, the same setlist
and i remember back in 2009 before screamworks tour Valo said they can play 33 songs at the moment and he promised they will play Love In Cold Blood..... just words  ;D

Lots of stuff being posted on You Tube  of the show last night. Any thoughts? I will say that I'm never disappointed with how they sound. In consideration of his recent illness, I was happy to hear them play and glad that Ville seems to be better and can sing, etc.  Was such a bummer having to miss the shows here in the States.  :(

The band really needs to change up their setlist in the worst way. If you're seeing the band for the first time it might not be so bad, but it's been the same songs for years now. They definitely need to mix it up more. They could at least have a few songs in rotation that they change every night so the setlist isn't the exact same for every show.
Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: 616 on June 02, 2013, 01:04:29 PM
more than half of their setlist should be retired and replaced by refreshing new-old songs like Pretending, Please Dont Let It Go, Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart, This Fortress of tears, And Love Said No, Shatter Me With Hope, Vampire Heart, Love Without Tears, I Will Be The End of You, Drawn & Quartered ......

wicked game, babl, soul on fire, your sweet 666, join me, funeral of hearts, rhima, wings of a butterfly, kiss of dawn - all these are overplayed, they are perfoming these for ages over and over again on every gig, i am surprised they still enjoy playing these songs for 199089-time again.....

and they have a new album and they are playing only 4 songs from it? well i was expecting at least 7 out of these 9 on ToT ..... but ok we had I will be the end of you on Helldone and Turku in 2012

i understand they are playing hits and well-known singles but it is boring without any changes in the setlist, isnt it?

Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: Jay on June 02, 2013, 01:44:04 PM
I don't understand why they don't change it up more.  I don't want it to be a Radiohead situation, where they only play obscure songs, but really...I'm sick of YS666 and Wicked Game.  RHIMA and Join Me are understandable staples.

If they don't change up the set list, at least change up the arrangements.  I loved the jams they would do for Join Me (2000ish), and Poison Girl (2005ish).  I can basically see the setlist now, pull up a bootleg and not much would be different.

I'm seeing them in September, and with them being a co-headliner for a harder rock show, I'm not expecting any change.  As much as I would love to hear Pretending, or Gone With the Sin, they aren't going to take a risk.

I would love it if it was a Pearl Jam (who I am not a fan of) situation where each night was varied by a few songs, mixed in with staples.

That too...you can basically predict a HIM set to be about an hour or so.

I meant to add that HIM got booed off the stage when they supported Metallica (it was a shitty slot placement too).  And as much as I used to love Metallica and despise them now for their recent "efforts", Metallica knows how to put on a live show.  Yes, Metallica has more money for production, but HIM is rather, sorry to say, boring.  Linde and Mige seem to be into playing the music, Gas is always working it, Burton is there, and Ville is crooning over the mic.  I don't think adding pyro to their show would be fitting, but they could spruce it up.

Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: Haddonfield on June 02, 2013, 02:35:53 PM
The band has definitely started catering to the casuals more and more over the recent years, which is smart because they know us hardcore fans will still support them no matter what they do. Whether it's buying tickets to see the same songs performed live we've already seen and heard a thousand times, or buying a CD full of the same songs we've already paid for several times in the past, they do more things for the casual fans than the hardcore ones, but we still eat it up and throw our money at them, so they'll just continue to do it. Why change the setlist and have to practice new songs and make different arrangements when we'll all still go to see them no matter how much we complain? Why release a compilation of rarities that the casual fans would probably pass on when they can put a bunch of old songs on a CD and we still buy it regardless?

Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: Jay on June 02, 2013, 03:34:33 PM
Cory is 100% correct.

The purpose of a tour is to promote. What should they promote? The new album? Should they play new songs? Absolutely. But they recycle set lists and sprinkle in a new song or 2, and we still show up. They're in and out in 45-65 minutes and we take it every single time.

I'm not attempting to see them again this year, but if I ever do decide to go to another concert in the future, all they have to do to please me is play And Love Said No and Razorblade Kiss. They have so many amazing songs to choose from, but they still insist on playing the singles. Until they change that shit, I'll be sitting my happy ass at home whenever they're playing near me.

According thay info on the right side and the program list for television, i understand they will broadcast some bands live which are mentioned (so not HIM) and will broadcast pieces from the total festival (broadcasting time ca 1 hour). So if HIM is already on tv, it's only 1/2/3 songs. That's my thoughts behind this. Same situation is happening at some other Festivals every year.

this entire tour is like "you can attend only one show and you will know how the rest of the tour will look like and sound like"

I remember when I first started collecting bootlegs, I would name the tracks by the show and finally got fed up with it after 50 different Wicked Games...

and there are mistakes and there is only a part of their gigs setlisted

http://www.setlist.fm/stats/him-4bd6cf0a.html (http://www.setlist.fm/stats/him-4bd6cf0a.html)

i would say they skipped Wicked game in their setlist maybe only on TV live shows where they played brand new single and thats it
honestly i skip this song everythime i listen to anything where is Wicked game - i hate this song already  ;D

Yeah the old tiresome topic with the setlist. I have to say it's really a little disappointing that they still haven't changed anything at all but I someone told me that he read tat Ville said that they will chnage it on the proper Euro Tour this year. That they will play songs that have barely been played live. I so hope that this is true. I'm certain that this would  make many many people really really happy including myself :D

In any case I'm attending Leipzig on the 11th of October and Prague the day after.

I got my tickets for on the floor for the Cincinnati show in two weeks.   I'm just hoping that they don't play 9 songs like on project revolutiion.   Its seems they have been playin around 15 or 16 songs for these festival shows and theres not as many band for this rock allegiance tour.   It should be cool but I wonder if they are gonna play a new tears on tape song on this tour.   My freinds gonna take good pics i can share after.   Its been 3 years since i saw the screamworks tour so i'm just happy to see them back and healthy.

Edit:   It looks like HIM is on a few more festivals in the US other than the pain in the grass.   they are the same bands as the rock allegiance except a few more such as a7x.   It's bullshit the heartagram site isn't up to have their tour dates.

ENGLEWOOD, CO- KBPI's Locura Festival > September 2nd
GEORGE, WA- Pain In The Grass >  September 6th
PHEONIX, AZ- 98kupd's Desert Uprising > September 13th
CHULSA VISTA, CA- Rock 105.3 Operation Kick Ass Festival > September 14th
SACRAMENTO, CA -Monster Aftershock > September 15th
GULFPORT, MS- CPR Festival > September 21st

from TEAM HEARTAGRAM webpage:

ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO WILL BE ATTENDING UK GIGS IN OCTOBER!

Official HIM Street Team UK has created an official poll to vote on songs that are rarely or never played which you would like to hear during the upcoming UK tour.

Results will be sent to the band and if they see popular demand on at least few of the songs, they might consider adding them to the setlist.

So please, share this poll and vote!

http://www.poll-maker.com/poll26347xFA21297f-2 (http://www.poll-maker.com/poll26347xFA21297f-2)

---- my add to this: i voted for: RESURRECTION (which is actually in lead!!! FINGERS CROSSED FOR THIS ONE) , Heartache every moment , The beginning of the end

they need to refresh their setlist, resurrection must be played in Prague for gods sake!!

i dont think they will play songs like Loves Requiem , One Last Time, even if they won this poll, but they could play some older songs like Resurrection, DSBH songs, probably some Love Metal songs
i would like to hear some Screamworks songs too - Shatter Me With Hope, but we can only hope for that
and it is not guaranteed that they will play it .....

and i am attending Prague show before the UK tour starts so i dont know, but i will pray everyday for putting  "RESURRECTION" back to the setlist for Prague show....   :'(

btw its a pitty that they didnt list all of the songs, but a few .... i would love to vote for "And Love Said No" ....

I highly doubt that poll will do anything, but if people were smart they'd vote for the songs that have NEVER been played live before. I can't understand why Resurrection is in the lead. Good song, but it's been played plenty of times before. The majority of the songs on that list have been played before. There's only four that haven't. Vote for those! Also, I hope whoever made that poll realizes there isn't a song called In Our Diabolical Rapture and feels bad about it. How could they even make that mistake?

HIM fans love Resurrection, and you can highly doubt that they will perform Loves Requiem or Ode To Solitude.....
with that mistake, there is another one - Burry me deep inside your heart.... double "r" ....
they wont change the setlist, they are on tour in USA and then Europe, there is no time for practicing new-old songs.... but it would be nice to hear some changes in the setlist .... i bet they will add in Europe tour maybe SLeepwalking Past Hope, When Love And Death Embrace and probably Killing Loneliness

I agree with you there's no hope of them playing ode to solitude, they didnt even play it on the Screamworks tour unfortunately, also with regards to Ressurection a lot of us were too young to ever hear it live, so it would be good to hear it played once again

I've never met another HIM fan that told me Resurrection was their favorite song lol. If Resurrection wins, they're not going to play it. If W.L.S.T.D. wins, they're not going to play it. In all reality, it doesn't really matter which song wins. Still, if by some miracle the band actually sees the poll results, it would be nice if the four songs they've never played live before were the top vote getters over a lot of songs that have already been played quite a few times over the years or that should be a part of the default setlist the band loves to use nowadays anyways. I'm not from the UK, so I'm not going to any of the shows obviously, so maybe that changes my opinion on what I think should be voted for. I don't think it does, though, because even if I was at the show I would want the band to play something they've never played before over any other song or even my favorite song. Like I said, and like you said, they're not going to change anything besides maybe switching out one overplayed song to another overplayed song that isn't even on that list. It would be nice if they gave the setlist a complete overhaul, just as a service to the fans, but they're so out of touch with what we really want that it'll never happen. It would be great to show them that we know which songs they've never played live before and that's what we want to hear, though.

they never performed most of their songs live, they are now mostly playing just singles and few songs off the new album but thats it.
there is no way to hear Loves Requiem live or songs like this from the poll.
i think i wasnt that far from the truth when i said that they have no time to practice old songs, maybe they will play some of the songs they performed early this year or at the last Helldone (Gone With The Sin, Sweet Pandemonium, Pretending,Sleepwalking Past Hope, Rebel Yell) but i doubt they will change their setlist with the old never or rarely played songs..... we can pray and hope for it

just out of stomach i bet this setlist for the UK tour:
All Lips
RHIMA
BABL
Kiss Of Dawn
Join Me
Hearts At War
Bleed Well
Your Sweet 666
Passions
Tears On Tape
Soul On Fire
Funeral
Killing Loneliness
Its All Tears
Rebel Yell
Into The Night
WLADE
Sleepwalking Past Hope
Wings
Wicked
+ at least one song from ToT album (i hope for Love without tears)

With all the bitching about them being stale with their set list, anything is worth a shot.  I'm pessimistic myself, so I'm in the "believe it when I see it" camp.  I haven't seen them in 3 years, so if I have to sit through Wicked Game AGAIN, it'll be fine this time.  I imagine they won't play but 45 minutes or so as it's a festival here in the states.

Or they will just add in Rebel Yell to the end of RHIMA and then be able to say "See? We changed it!"

I'd be happy if they played a couple of new songs off TOT like WLSTD and love without tears but at least they're on tour and seemingly upbeat about that. But I would say Strange World was a good opener at Helldone so I wouldn't be sad to see that making a return

It is the same setlist but i'm not sure if they kept when love and death embrace at the end.   I hope, i've never heard that one live in the six prior shows i've seen.   All lips go blue isn't uploaded yet so maybe.   But it does seem they are doing the 15 songs and the funeral of hearts could be the finale.

Just got back to pittsburgh from cincinati.   It was a great show but it seems they cut out funeral of hearts so their was only 14 songs.  They jammed really long for songs such as wicked game so they had to end with into the night.   It's so weird not having a encore.   They started taring down the equip right after into the night and valo stormed off.   Volbeat can't put a patch on HIM's ass... no reason why they don't play last.   It was cool hearing the new tears on tape songs and se eing valo with an acoustic for the first time.   Rock allegiance tour is deff worth seeing.

I'm dying with anticipation as the tour kicks off here in the States! I've got tix for Atlanta and Greensboro and just saw on Team Heartagram FB page that there will be signings at some of the shows (Atlanta is one) so now I'm about to pee myself!!!

In regards to the set list, one song I've always, always wanted to hear live (as in live in person) is Death Is In Love With Us - that's my favorite track from RR and it would be so incredible to see them play that.  I hope they do come back and tour the US alone but I'm not very optimistic about it at the moment.  :-\

Just purchased tickets to the Grand Prairie show. Got tickets in the front row (GM or "pit" as the site calls it). I hate concerts (or any place crowded with loud people), though supposedly there is going to be an autograph signing at the show, which, upon hearing about it, was the driving force behind my purchasing tickets, I could not pass it up.

Hopefully the day goes smooth, though I'm not sure how it will all play out (with the autograph signing and whatnot).

I went to the Las Vegas show, they didn't do a signing there. After their set I went outside by the stage door exit, about 45 minutes later they came out and signed stuff and took pictures. They hung around for about 1/2 an hour talking to us, there weren't many, about 20 to 25 fans, Ville was in a good mood and very friendly as were the other guys. He actually apologized about having to rush off, saying they had a long drive ahead.
If you can't get a wrist band for the signing, hang out after the show!

I'm getting more and more nervous as the days get here for Atlanta.....I've already planned to be in line early hoping to score a wristband to meet them.

Also, what kind of merchandise has been available at the shows? Anyone remember or know what's up for sale?

I guess you could say I was surprised, although, none of the songs were really that surprising.  I can't believe they played 15 songs. In the moment it went by so fast.

Only critique would of been that they turn up the acoustic in the mix. Could of been the venue since it's a awful place for sound.

At the venue for tonight's show, bolted for the Monster booth to find out that HIM is not singing tonight. Gay!
Did find out that I'm sitting 2nd row behind the pit, to the right of the stage!

They did, but when I asked the dude he said it was only All That Remains tonight. Also, Airborne isn't here tonight so HIM gets a longer set. I'll have to go back out and check the list at the bar but I'm pretty sure HiM gets over an hour.

Nah regular set list, nothing different than any other night. They did do a really cool extended version of Kiss of Dawn, though. Ville did start signing the lyrics to Rendezvous With Anus. I popped for that.

So, the signings are strange.  Apparently they trade off with Volbeat, and sometimes just end up cancelling altogether, like they did in Dallas.

I liked the show.  Airbourne didn't play.  All that Remains was great, HIM was awesome, they looked like they were enjoying playing.  Some guy even had a shirt from Ville's dad's sex shop.  Volbeat was...Volbeat.  Yuck.  After the show, Inferno, myself and some friends went and ate at the Japanese restaurant next to the venue.  I made the mistake of drinking sake after already drinking 4 huge beers, which I paid for this morning.  :P

What you see here is what's at the show, with the exception that the shirts have these tour dates on them. And they had buttons available too. Shirts were $30, hoodie was $60.

Airbourne played in Kansas City, they are pretty damn good I thought. Kind of hard hearing any lyrics, but check them out on youtube! Def AC/DC vibe. But yeah in the Dallas show they did not play either, and HIM cancelled signings, couldnt even get lucky at their tour bus. They claimed the lack of security. Which is understandable, Ville would be attacked.

I didn't really check out the merch up close.  It looked lackluster and looked like stuff we could find on the shop.  My favorite piece of HIM merch by far has been that pewter flask from a few years back.  I loved that thing and some motherfucker stole it.

(Yes, I'm still bitter) :)

Between football, Dexter, Breaking Bad, and GTA 5, I haven't done anything to the audio but extract it to my comp.  I'll see what I can do tonight.  I've been extremely lazy these past few days.

Where do I start??? OMG I had THE BEST time at both the Atlanta and Greensboro shows!!! I got in line at like 2:30 in Atlanta for the signing and scored a wristband and was able to meet the band... they signed my HIM book.  I tried to find a place to sit in the venue but dammit there was nothing- so I wasn't able to record at all!  The next day my friend and I drove up to Greensboro- quite an odd place for a concert but it was incredible.  We had seats but c'mon, can you really sit down at a HIM show if there is plenty of room to stand? I was able to capture some good pictures of the band and learn more about my dslr camera.

The guys sounded INCREDIBLE at both shows. Honestly, Ville sang like an angel and I was so excited and happy that I had the chance to do both shows.  I've attached a few pictures to share!

And I have to say that the Volbeat fans are jerks, overall, in my opinion.  And quite honestly, the band was not my cup of tea. My friend has all their albums and likes them but we saw the EXACT same show from them in Atlanta - down to the exact words the singer was saying in between the songs.  That kinda crap just bores me.  Seriously, think up something a little more creative than the same shit.  Anyway, I ran into a Volbeat fan at the Atlanta show who was bragging about knowing their tour manager and how she had "VIP" tickets to get in first and she made a comment that 90% of the fans in line were HIM fans and that she could "easily" take them out if need be to secure a front row spot in front of the stage.  I just looked at her (how obvious it was that I am a HIM fan, especially with the heartagram jewelry I was wearing) and just said "Is that really necessary? This is concert - it's just music- do we need to be violent?"  She looked at me and said "Oh, I wouldn't hurt you or anyone, I just fight for the front row."   Pff...whatever. Then she went on to say that she hoped Ville was sober now and not drunk on stage, blah, blah, blah.....I am amazed at how ignorant people are.  And I hope she enjoyed getting her ass kicked when HIM played that night. LOL.  Okay, rant done.

Nice pics!!  Synnin signed...very nice!

Speaking of Volbeat being repeatative...I saw them the first time with Megadeth and Motorhead.  He was talking about something and the band broke out into about 5 seconds of "Ace of Spades" which made sense at the time, as Motorhead had cancelled at the last minute.

About a year later, they play the same 5 seconds of "Ace of Spades", which was either before or after a Johnny Cash cover...

Hmm, and guess what?? They broke out into a snippet of Ace of Spades at the Greensboro show too!  The night before in Atlanta they played a snippet of Iron Maiden's Run to the Hills.  I mean, the guy has a set of pipes on him and they did not sound bad at all- it's just not my thing and the repetitive stuff is such a turn off.  It's almost like bad choreography.  :o

Yesterday was the concert in Hamburg and guess what ? It's still the same setlist as before the summer Festivals like in April when they made the release gigs. Even less. WLADE was the encore. So 15 Songs and 1 encore.

I'm still happy to see them again on Friday and Saturday but still they could have changed at least some parts of the setlist. But I guess it's because they had no time to rehearse again to put out some goodies for us.

well i have to admit that my 2 tickets + all the traveling to the Prague was terrible waste of money....
no offense but they suck...
honestly, they are young, they have 8 albums + a lot of great songs like And Love Said No ,..... , their concert duration is only around 70 to 75 minutes......
for example Paul McCartney who is twice that old as they are,he is on the stage 2 hours and 30 minutes or more, he plays 40 songs with multiple encores - from all the stuff like his solo, Wings songs, Beatles songs and he changes his setlist every show

our beloved darlings from Helsinki they are playing only singles, mostly Love Metal songs + pointless solo Jams in TWO songs from the setlist - The Kiss Of Dawn and WIcked Game - these 2 songs with this fucking jam are like 15 minutes together in total ...... if they skipped that boring pointless jam in both of the songs, it would be awesome and they could add some better songs to their setlist
i guess they are lazy to practice new songs or old songs so they are playing only the most played ones....

what should we do? nothing... fuck us, right?

dont get me wrong, i love them, but their 2013 tour in general is boring like hell.......
no passion, no coolness, no changes , nothing, even it looks like Ville packed only 2 T-shirts to the entire tour :D it looks like replaying one show over and over in the different venue, city or country

Title: Re: 2013 Tour

Unfortunately I have to agree for that matter.

I'm really a little bit disappointed. I mean 16 songs in total for a headlining tour is too less apart from the setlist matter. I mean even on the Venus Doom Tour they played over 20 songs including Under the Rose, Razorblade Kiss, The Sacrament, Dead Lovers Lane, Bleed Well, Sleepwalking Past Hope. I mean that was something at least a step in the right direction. But since than the setlist got smaller and smaller and smaller.

I mean for all honesty how can they play even less than on a release gig in April ? I also wonder that it is not getting boring for them to play the same setlist over and over again since April.

Well what can we do ? Nothing, you're right. Unfortunately we can't do anything.

I agree with you I'm going to 2 of the UK shows and now it seems like that will be the same setlist as the shows in April and the whole summer, also in interviews Ville has stated that they only get 70 minutes for the festivals so they can only play 15 songs, but they are dong that on their headline tour too. I would just like to hear some non-singles or some different tears on tape songs, I will be the end of you was good at Helldone and Strange world but they've been dropped.

yeah i remember Ville told they have only 70 minutes so they had to reduce the setlist, but who forced them to add 2 long solo Jams into the Kiss of dawn + into the Wicked game?  2 regular songs killed because of solo jams ................ if thease solo jams were at least that excellent like jams of RHCP with John Frusciante i would keep my mouth shut ,but this is pointless, seriously
and now when they have a regular tour (even with the boring support band ....) they only added When Love And Death Embrace which i love but on the gig its a little bit boring, i think the encore song should be some kind of energic one like Rebel Yell or something that everyone will enjoy the most, not that slow melancholic WLADE which would fit more into the middle of the setlist - my opinion

and yes - I will be the end of you was pretty great live, really! a song to sing along and jump, dance whatever, better than pointless 5 minutes long Jam just to kill the time - TWICE a setlist .......

at least Prague is one of the most beautiful cities i have ever been to, so i am looking forward to see Prague again, HIM is just like - "ok i paid for the tickets so need to go there" - no big deal

Strange World was a good opener too and that was dropped a little quickly I mean they only play that and IWBTEOY 5 times live, If i remember correctly they played Rebel Yell on the 28th at Helldone but only as an extra song but that 1st gig was the worst HIM show I've been to.

The jams aren't pointless, Ville needs to piss and smoke.
I saw them in Phoenix last month, it was a big festival so they only did a 35 minute set and he still took a break.
I hate those 2 t-shirts also but Linde has worn the same outfit at every show this year.
They get away with it because we buy whatever they're selling.

HIM set lists always seem to feel like they are trying to cater to new fans by playing all the singles and "popular" songs. Obviously, more fans more money blah blah, but I wish they would start playing sets for the real fans that have seen them 1 or 2 handfuls so we can hear something new and different

Wait, weren't they having this magical contest to change the setlist on the European tour?

If we're being honest here, I have to admit that the crowd at the show in September was MUCH smaller than I expected, and way smaller than I had experienced before when they were headliners.

Now then, it was a Thursday night, but I think the other shows I went to in the past were also on a Thursday night and the place was packed!

I was used to being shoulder to shoulder with people, but this time I had enough room to (literally) run around and instigate a drunk Volbeat fan.  I loved the show, but it'd been almost 3 years since I saw them.

My dream is to go to a destination concert in Europe.  I just don't want to fly across an ocean to hear Wicked Game for the millionth time...

As a headliner, you'd figure they can do as they please.  I wouldn't want to see them for 2 1/2 - 3 hours, like Springsteen, but at least an hour and 30?  That's not too much to ask.

And yes, they have more than enough of a catalogue to change the set up from night to night.  Keep a few staples, throw in an obscure one from time to time.

Though would we also complain if they dropped something like "Your Sweet Six Six Six" or "Right Here in My Arms"?  It'd almost be like Radiohead refusing to play "Creep" because they're too cool to play it now.

It's like Metallica...you know they are going to play Enter Sandman at some point, but they throw in something obscure along the way.

actually i think Ville never sounded that GREAT live, he is at his best, definitely

I was at the Amsterdam gig. It was good to see HIM live and Ville's voice from front row. But the show SUCKED! No connection with the public, no talks between songs. Before I knew it, a new song was started - a train on high speed this concert!!

Btw, you can see me on the ''I will be the End'' video...Front row, between Mig? and Ville, with the black tshirt & Beanie ^_^

But the good thing (my day was epic!) because ;

1. I took place in the HIM truck (trucking is my thing)
2. Got setlist (arranged it before the show started) with the crew
3. I got autographs from all HIM members - They liked the selfmade audio bootleg concert CD i've made :D
4. After the crew-guy gave me signed CD back when support act was finished, i got like 1 minute of fame around me :P

Later i've heard (from Gas himself) HIM was in a bar close to the venue....Was planning to go there, but after waiting 14 hrs.....you're tired as hell.

Ohwyeah, somebody told me he recorded the Amsterdam gig. Will working on it to get it. Then will upload it here. Dont have any info to share about quality, only that its complete....

the Prague show - very very short - no changes in the setlist, no talking to the crowd + no one in the entire venue heard a single tone , it was just a constant loudness - the sound tech totally screwed it

all i have heard from the entire performance was : join me intro + the funeral of hearts acoustic ville intro + drums  :D :D
a lot of people around me were bored like hell it was weird to be on this kind of a concert

actually there is a short review from the last night ,it is in czech so you need to translate it:

i agree to the last word with this article - the sound engineer totally screwed it like no one before-i dont know what he was thinking or if he was deaf or on crack ......

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=cs&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=sk&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.novinky.cz%2Fkultura%2F316000-him-love-metal-v-chaosu.html&act=url (http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=cs&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=sk&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.novinky.cz%2Fkultura%2F316000-him-love-metal-v-chaosu.html&act=url)

but some of the equipment ,cameras and cellphones handled this constant noise well as i saw some video on the youtube ,but for the human ears it was just a noise , not a concert

i dont know what happened to the guys but only Gas looked like he was really enjoying this show +playing, the rest was totally like programmed robots or something like that - no passion, no connection

I guess it gets very tiresome playing the same 16 songs in the same order every concert since April no wonder they are playing like robots, Have all the shows been that bad? as I've only seen the videos on Youtube and not going to one until later in the UK.

but they are the masters of their setlist, if they are tired of playing the same 16 songs , they are free to change it, or?

Well I guess the guys assume it's all good for the casual fans but the "die hard" fans don't want to keep hearing Wicked Game, Join Me, Buried Alive By Love, WOAB, even kiss of dawn is becoming a constant. We'd all like to hear some non singles but I can't see it happening

When they toured the States they had to fight for their lives every single night, the abuse they took from the Volbeat fans was merciless. When you're being boo'd, flipped off and screamed at to get off the stage you try harder. They had to prove they were a great band every night. Now they are headlining in Europe and can put it on cruise control, all they have to do is show up and 99% of the audience will cheer and say it was amazing.

What you are saying, i can think that is true and can be hard for HIM for this EU tour, after a sad USA Tour. But still, i think that is no excuse to maka a gig bad... as band you need give 100% every show. I'm a die-hard fan, and i will never stop being a fan NO MATTER WHAT! But let's face the fact, this EU Tour is not going as it should be.

Also with Metallica, HIM was ''shit'' for Metallica fans. I think HIM should stop doing those shows, and only give gigs and normal festivals. If you ask me, HIM only needs to come to USA for normal HIM gigs. USA get always more advantage, that's unfair. At the end, it's an European Band. Now i might sound like a cry baby, but i don't care - this is my opinion.

i dont think they care about some Volbeat rude fans, Ville said he is not even reading news, its a business, they are at work on every show, they dont have to be afraid if someone will buy their ticket, they have a huge fan base so they dont need to prove someone that they are better than some Volbeat or what, everyone has a different opinion and music taste.
leets face the truth , we love HIM no matter what and we would pay a fortune just for 45 minutes set of wicked game and halfplayback only just to see them   ;D  this is an addiction, but unfortunately i wasnt overdosed after the Prague concert

I didn't expect a drastic change of setlist for this European tour. I certainly didn't think that poll would be put to use at all, but they normally change up the setlist for the European audience as compared to the American audience. I think Ville still thinks all we know here in America are the singles. Obviously, that's not the case. Still, I can't believe they're using pretty much the same setlist in Europe as they did here, especially when they're the sole main act now. That's inexcusable. I just saw Nine Inch Nails recently, and they played like 25 songs. I don't expect HIM to play that many, but it just made me realize how half-assed the band has become with their live shows. Granted, things started going downhill in 2005, but you'd think they'd wanna come out now and give fans something to remember after their long hiatus. I wanna go see them again, at least one more time, but they need to give me something to look forward to other than just being at a HIM concert. Other than the new songs, it's almost the same exact show I've seen several times before. It's like watching the same movie over and over again. You might like the movie enough to watch it more than once, but eventually it gets to the point where you don't have the same desire to watch it again because you know what's going to happen.
Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: AcousticFuneral on October 14, 2013, 04:32:20 PM
The ridiculous thing is the more albums i.e. songs they have bought out the more predictable the setlist has beame.I think the lack of changes to the setlist is just laziness to a point Ville may say they have no time but they toured maybe 15 shows between Helldone 2012 and Rock Allegiance in 7 1/2 months come on they have time to rehearse a couple of songs. To be fair to the band I think the poll thing was more to do with the UK street team than the band.
Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: 616 on October 14, 2013, 05:19:39 PM
of course this poll was a bulls***
how they imagined it? like "Hey HIM we made a poll about what you should play live and the winner song was The Phantom Gate ,we know you have no time to practice anything that old but it was a winner so you should play it" ... "ok nevermind we will"

they already retired 2 entire albums - DSBH and Screamworks, they wont play any rarely or never played song live

even i PMed Gas on FB and asked him abut the setlist for the European tour - it was when Rock Allegiance tour was about to end, i got no response unfortunately, all i asked was Resurrection for the Prague show  ;D ;D  i had to try it  :D

I've talked to Gas a few times on Facebook now. He even surprised me with a happy birthday message on my birthday. We're pretty much best buds now. I could've tried to hook that up for you, haha.

But, yeah, Gas seems like the only one that really has a passion for touring and playing music to an audience nowadays. Tears On Tape wasn't some elaborate masterpiece that took forever to write and record, so that should've left the band with plenty of time to rehearse some new material to play live. There's no excuse why some songs aren't on the setlist. The ones that are, they've played so many times before that I don't see them needing much time to run through them and get used to playing them together again.

One more thing I almost forgot, the cancelled tour. You would think they would try to make up for that, as most bands would, regardless of the reason for the cancellation. From the moment the band made their long awaited return, from finding out XX was originally intended to be a disc of rarities, but Ville felt the fans wouldn't want that and would rather have another greatest hits compilation, to the website STILL not being up, the lackluster promotion for the album, the lackluster album itself, the cancelled tour, the same old boring and predictable setlist...it just doesn't feel like the HIM of old, even of the Screamworks era, right now. I hope things get better, but I don't see it improving by much. They need to find that fire and that passion again, and I will too right along with them. No more playing it safe. No more just going through the motions. If they're going to just do that from now on, they might as well give it up, sadly.

Decent start to the setlist changes, but I hope more are to come and they actually stick with them throughout their tour here in the US. It would be cool to hear DIILWU and In Joy And Sorrow live again, and they soundchecked For You back in 2004 when they came to Chicago for the first time, so that would be cool too to see them actually play it in front of me as opposed to hearing it from the outside. Only songs on the setlist I don't think I've heard live personally are the new songs, WLADE, and For You.

Have any GOOD bootlegs emerged yet? They don't necessarily have to be recorded with proper equipment and in lossless. I've only listened to Death Is In Love With Us from the first show so far.

Just looking around YouTube (it's sad that's where all the bootlegs come from these days) and the best source I've found so far is from djibril84. Anyone find anything better than that?

Also, I'd just like to mention I'm kind of disappointed they didn't do anything special for the New Years show. Yeah, they did add a few older songs onto the setlist at the start of the festival, which was definitely welcomed, but I remember back when the New Years show was something every fan wanted to go to because it was THE definitive HIM show of the year, not only due to the tradition of it, but because you were likely to experience something you wouldn't be able to otherwise. They're pretty much just like any other show now.

And another thing, haha. I wish they'd put Strange World back onto the setlist. I thought it was going to become a staple kind of like Wicked Game, but I was completely wrong. I'm pretty tired of hearing Wicked Game, as I'm sure all of you are too, but we probably wouldn't be here bitching about shit if it weren't for that song. Join Me is what really turned them into superstars, but there wouldn't have even been a Join Me without Wicked Game being a hit for them first.
Title: Re: 2013 Tour
Post by: 616 on January 01, 2014, 05:47:15 PM
Swag has a good point
we were bitching because of their setlist is made of singles and what they did? they replaced non-singles for singles + non singles ,but the result is they just keep playing the same songs over and over on every gig, every tour, every year
Even Tavastia show was lame this year from what i have heard and thats pretty shitty because there was a lot of fans from all around the world and they all heard 90% of the same setlist  ;D
If you check on the setlist changes its a not really a change
90% of the set is still there (they retired Hearts At War + I Will Be The End Of You + Sleepwalking Past Hope = all these are NON-Singles!) and they replaced them with - Poison Girl , In Joy And Sorrow (singles) and they added two more non singles - For You and Death is in Love..)
So now their setlist is - only singles (15 songs) + 4 non singles songs . And i need to add that they performed 19 songs on Helldone shows, and they performed only 16 or less on the 2013 tour (festivals and Europe and Rock Allegiance).

and why i think their "changes" suck? because they just added another singles and they totally fucked on the overplayed Wicked Game, BABL , Butterfly .,... and thats it, they are still boring but HELL AWESOME live - Ville is at his best (his voice and singing are perfect, his best live year - 2013)
ok FOR YOU is beautiful song and i am really happy that they performed it, Death Is In Love With Us is short but still pretty rocking
i am asking - WHY the hell they rehearsed just 4 (old) new songs? Why they need to have a setlist made of Singles?

i think their singles are not their best songs on the albums and the singles are badly chosen almost on every album, i think only DSBH has well chosen singles and they are both radio friendly and easy-going to the non-HIM listener and maybe they are better than the rest of the album (non-single) songs .....
if you pick Love Metal single BABL - it has only nice title but there are better songs on this album then BABL.... even SoF is better and its not a single but is over-performed song so they should retire this one too. Its not well chosen single at all

and ad absurdum : why they are still playing these F@@@#@# solo parts in Kiss Of Dawn and Wicked Game? i mean its just a killed time for another great old song- for example "Vampire Heart (non-single song!)"......

Happy New year my friends , i hope you all will have better setlist on the upcoming tours in 2014 , have fun and dont record the shows from the first row  ;D

I can understand the band playing what's essentially a "greatest hits" setlist during festivals like Rock Allegiance, for example, where they're not the only band playing and not everyone there bought a ticket to see them. You might as well just play the hits and leave at shows like that. No reason to really rehearsal any older or different material for shows like that. When they're headlining their own festival that they themselves created, where every single person in attendance bought a ticket just to see them, and a lot of them traveled from all over the world and spent a lot of money to do so, it's almost offensive to play that same greatest hits setlist for those fans. They deserve something different. I'm sure the fangirls went home happy. They got to hear their favorite songs, which are almost always the singles, and they got to be the in same building as Ville and stare at him the entire time. They would've went home happy regardless of what the band played. The rest of the fans, though, I'm sure they enjoyed In Joy And Sorrow, For You, and Death Is In Love With Us, but they probably left wondering why they paid so much to see a show they could've seen for a lot cheaper later on. Even though the fangirls make up the majority of the audience nowadays, there's gotta be a better mix between the singles they wanna hear, and the older/more obscure songs the rest of the people wanna hear. I doubt a lot of people go to the New Years show as their first HIM show ever, or just on a whim without knowing the majority of HIM's catalogue, so it makes no sense not play songs they don't normally play. Give every single fan in attendance their money's worth. It's supposed to be a special show for hardcore fans of the band, but it certainly hasn't ended up that way lately in recent years.
