I guess I'll do Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  I thought it got off to a slow start at first, but once they got into the factory Johnny Depp was great.  It was pretty damn funny too.  I can see why people think he based his character off of michael jackson.  It's definatley worth seing.

I just saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also, I thought it was so much better than the original movie.  Burton did a great job with it.  I recomend it.

It was awesome. I'm suprised no one has mentioned the parody of 2001. That was fuckin' hillarious!!! Having the chocolate bar as the obelisk was just genius!  I've never read the book so does anyone know how close it is to the book?

I saw Wedding Crashers today, and it was pretty damn funny.  Owen Wilson didn't do as well as he usually does, but Vince Vaughn was hilarious.  Will Ferrell had a little cameo in it as well.

The Devils Rejects...was....awesome....

It's one of the most violent movies I've ever seen.  It's not even that much of a horror movie.

If you are into Stupid movies I recommend that you go see 40 Year Old Virgin. Ironic enough I went to see it last week with my friend who is a desperate virgin. After the movie he started asking constant questions about him "talking to GIRLS!" (Ooh lah lah!). He managed to get on my nerves asking about stupid things.

OY!

I watched the new Hellraiser movie (Hellworld) last nite and I must say that I was greatly disappointed in the movie.  releasing 2 movies in the same year was a very bad idea.  :'(

I only watched the beginning of The Seed Of Chucky, but I didn't like what I watched.

More comedy than "horror".

The movie I rate... Cry Baby, with Johnny Depp. I rate this movie a 10/10. Iggy did good, Johnny Did good, as well as the big lady who is now skinny and has her own tv talk show. Oh Yeah Ricki Lake.

I love this movie.

Worst movie I have seen in a long time. Don't waste your money. The ending is rediculously terrible. I have never stood up at the end of the movie and yelled "Oh come on!" before.

+1 to you!
it IS a fantastic movie, I have it on DVD deffinietally on of my faves, never get bored with it, anybody who has seen and liked Labyrinth should have a look out for Dark Crystal(and vice versa), equally as fantastic but its all puppets through this movie, from 1984 I think, Labyrinth from 1986,
both movies would be nothing without the wonder that is conceptual artist Brian Froud, anyone who has seen either of these movies and liked them has too look out for his Goblin and Faery books.

the worst movie i`ve ever seen it`s carrie

I thought it was ok, They really did cut a lot out from the book, pretty much the first half. Stephen King is REALLY long winded so I can kind of see why.
Carrie 2 was kind of bad, Ive seen it tons of times though, it always seems to be on TV.

Did anyone else notice the Similarities between Rose Red & Carrie? I know they are both by King, but come on. Alot of the stuff from the book (Carrie) that was cut out was in the Rose Red movie.

That movies has crazy i liked it i dont know why people think its too violent. The kids mom got killed rapped and burned when he was young had to live with his grandparents. its a nice film people would understand 50 more if they watched this film. Something funny i liked was that he is a Rick James fan that right there is a hard mother fucker.

Yeah, he kept a picture of Rick James for like 10 years... lol.

But god... the editing they must have went through when they executed the "shot" scene.

I just watched batman begins for like the fourth time a couple of days ago.  If anyone is looking for a good rental or purchase i highly recommend this one, fuck what you thought you knew about the more recnt titles in the series, this one is a fresh start for the series, ( as implied by the title) and if the first is any indication the next ones will be awesome.
The star-studded cast delivers, and the story is well developed, especially interesting is the origins of how batman came to be, where he got his gadgets and how he gained his skills.

I just saw Hostel and it sucked.  The gore was alright, but there wasn't a lot at all.  I don't know how people could have had mental breakdowns or whatever they were saying about the pre-release screanings.  It wasn't scary at all, they tried to raise the suspense, but nothing ever came.  I would not recommend going to see it at all.  Very disappointing

Really?  I thought it was a good movie.  During "the eye" scene the whole theater gasped.

The idea of an underground group paying to torture (Americans are the most expensive) was pretty crazy.

I watched a little bit of When a Stranger Calls. I hated the movie. It was soooo annoying in the beginning, the girl in the movie annoyed me the most. When it got towards the middle-end I couldn't handle watching it because I didn't feel like being scared, and I was just bored with the movie. A word of advice Don't watch it.  ;)

Just saw Munich. Was pretty damn good, and the acting was great, good camera work and the look of it was great. Story was a bit confusing and off at times, and I fell asleep at the start, but that was just cause of work and the length of the film. Really unnecesarily long  :-\

Everybody were talking about the Libertine, so I had to rent the DVD. Yeah, it's very sexually explicit. They exaggerated the sexual liberty of the time, especially in that scene where people are having sex in a park or some field (whatever) in the foggy and obviously freezing weather. Pfff.... If it weren't for the sweet Depp, I would have fallen asleep sooner, but I managed to stay up for about 50 min.

Vacancy was surprisingly good. It is a great kind of "cabin in the woods" movie. I think it has the potential to go down as kind of a cult hit, but we'll see, those are so hard to predict.

This weekend I saw Superbad, and The Invasion. Superbad, in my opinion, was better than Knocked Up. The scenes with Seth Rogan and Bill Hader as cops were some of the funniest things that I have ever seen in a movie. It makes me want to burn my Body Count albums.

The Invasion, is basically a remake of "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers." It wasn't what I'd call a bad movie; Daniel Craig's performance was pretty good. It was a movie that had a lot of potential, but the climax of the film ended very abruptly. I think that they were trying to go for a psychological kind of fear, but it just didn't work out that well. One funny note though, the actors who played James Bond and Felix Leighter in Casino Royale appear in this movie as friends, which I found humorous.

My favourite part was when he was on the phone with that guy

Bourne:"So where are you?"
Guy: "I am in my office"
Bourne:"I doubt that"
Guy:"Why would you doubt that?"
Bourne:"Cos if you were, we would be having this conversation face to face"

Title: Re: Movie Reviews
Post by: S. Carnage Esq. on September 10, 2007, 04:23:53 PM
Halloween far exceeded my expectations. In the original film, it took about four minutes for the film to move to Lorie Strode. In this new one, it took nearly an hour.

That first part of the film that deals with Michael growing up is my favorite part in the entire series. Once it picks up to Lorie Strode, it does go a little downhill, but there are plenty of boobs and gory killings to make up for that. And for the record, we DO get to see the girl from Halloween 4 and 5 in the nude for long periods of time.

Malcolm McDowell is exceptional as Dr. Loomis, and Ken Foree's cameo as "Joe Grizzly" is another highlight of the film. I recommend everyone go see this, Halloween fan or not. It's a well-crafted horror film.

Since school started back up, I've seen:

Rush Hour 3 - 5/10
The Simpsons Movie - 5/10
Halloween - 7/10
Death Sentence - 7/10
Shoot 'Em Up (x2) - 9/10
Superbad - 9/10
3:10 To Yuma - 5/10
Resident Evil: Extinction - 7/10
1408 - 8/10
The Kingdom - 7/10

Last night I was also lucky enough to get to see the original Friday The 13th at one of my local theaters. I love old horror movies, so seeing one in the theater was absolutely fantastic. I hope that they show more old movies for the rest of the weekends in October.

EDIT:

I just saw The Heartbreak Kid tonight, and I must say it wasn't nearly as terrible as I thought. While it doesn't nearly live up to the awesomeness of Superbad, it indeed have a few moments worthy of the R-rating, and more than a few laugh out loud moments. The only thing that left me upset was the ending. After nearly two hours all I wanted was the happy ending, and THEY DEPRIVED ME OF IT!!! OOOOGABUGABOOGA!!!!

.....but seriously, it actually was pretty good.

I've seen quite alot of new movies and TV shows recently (well, new to me - some were older stuff.)
At the moment I am watching Smoke, a movie with Harvey Keitel and Forest Whitaker, so far we know that Keitel (Character's name is Augie) owns a cigar store and is a photographer. I am only 11 minutes in after all. It's good so far.

In the past week I bought The Number 23, Havoc and Saw 3. They were all rather good.
The Number 23 for one, is very underrated. People claim it's shit (alot of people) but I found it to be quite good. Jim Carrey did a good job, it was quite well written and the execution was just as good.

Havoc was quite good too, written by Stephen Gaghan (Traffic) It is about white kids who attempt to break into the Latino gang scene. It was good, an added bonus were the few nude scenes of Anne Hathaway  ;)

Finally - Saw III. I have been meaning to see this for ages, it was very good, but Saw II remains my favourite. I am gonna see Saw IV soon, it wasnt written by either of the two original writers so I am not sure what to expect.

88 Minutes was not nearly as bad as the critics are making it out to be, but I have to admit that without Pacino the movie would have been fairly unbearable. While I can't recommend spending the money to see it in the theaters, it wouldn't be a bad movie to rent. Nothing amazing, but if you just take it for what it's worth, a by the book Hollywood thriller, then you won't be that disappointed.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, aka Jude Apatow's redemption after Walk Hard was damn good. The movie was more along the lines of Knocked Up as opposed to Superbad, but still raunchy in a very universally acceptable way. While definitely a great comedy, I feel that it was lacking the big moment that Knocked Up and Superbad had. They make up for it with some great frontal male nudity that is just hilarious.

I go see about 2 movies a week, and that number will probably increase in the summer. If anyone wants a review, just ask. I'm sure I've either seen it, or will see it.

I know this film has been around for a while (since 1995 actually) but I must say, The Basketball Diaries. If you haven?t seen this film, SEE IT! It?s truly amazing.

It?s about Jim Carroll, the poet and writer, growing up and dealing with the pressures of life and turning to drugs. Basically, a coming-of-age tale. In my opinion, Leonardo DiCaprio is an amazing actor and he really makes this film. If you ever find the novel, have a read of that too.

If you like deep, depressing films with somewhat of a happy ending, The Basketball Diaries is a perfect choice!! I?ve seen this film about 15 times now and I could watch it another 100 times!!

I just discovered a great movie called Stan Helsing. Its basically just Scary Movie with horror films (Freddy, Jason,Chucky,Pinhead). Its awesome! Only complaint is too much sexual humor & language, not really into that. Theres a cool karaoke scene too. Grave Of Fireflies, I watched this this week and it was an amazing film and a real tear jerker. I watched this because it was recommended to me by a few people all of which were men (didn't think men liked weepy films). If you are a fan of the Studio Ghibli movies this is worth checking out even though it is not in the sames style as some of their bigger movies like Spirited Away, the storyline though does put this above these.

I watched Iron Man 2 and it wasn't as good as the first one, the story wasn't as captivating and the action was a bit fin on the ground.

I watched the Reader, that had a very good story, and the film was cast very will. The only thing I found was that I didn't really connect with the characters.

Resident Evil Afterlife, was a brilliant actioned packed horror. It took a while for some of the mad action to start, but it wasn't disappointing. Hopefully Milla will be able to carry on with the role for a few more movies.

The Scorcerer's Apprentice was a great family movie which had a great fantasy story line.

Scott Pilgrim is a really unique film, I haven't read the books so I am not really sure how true the file is to the original but I liked the quirkiness of the characters and strange events that just happen from nowhere. Top movie

Inception was a good film, but I found it a bit complicated at times, and probably needs another watch to fully understand what is going on, however the lengthy dialogue would become boring on a second viewing.

The Last Airbender was really a great family film, and the lead actor child star was amazing in the role for someome so young. I can't wait for the second movie.
Title: Re: Movie Reviews
Post by: S. Carnage Esq. on January 22, 2011, 12:23:00 AM
Inception is without a doubt an example of some brilliant technical, filmmaking, but the script has some problems. No one really ever understands the rules of dream machine thingy (do they even name it?), how one escapes limbo, and a variety of other issues. I also never understood why anyone would pay for something as inexact and inefficient as inception. If Sato was so powerful, why wouldn't he just buy a bunch of stock in Fischer's empire? Maybe he should spend a little less time buying airlines and participating in psychological terrorism and have a chat with his CFO.

For anyone that hasn't seen Scott Pilgrim vs The World yet, I strongly recommend that you do so as soon as possible. It's a pretty unconventional style of humor, but if you just bend over and let it have its way with you, there is no way not to enjoy it. Michael Cera is just brilliant. His line deliveries are strange, flawless, and hilarious. The supporting cast is great (the kid from Nickeleoden's Snow Day is in it!), and the action is very well done, which isn't surprising of a Edgar Wright directed feature.

I also recently saw the new Coen Brothers film True Grit, and it's fantastic. Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon have some wonderful back and forth, and this 14 year old girl in it is just fantastic.

The Last Airbender could have been better IMO. I don't know what they could have improved on, but there was just something missing. They did well in making sure that it directly followed the cartoon. I think it could have used a bit more action.

Exit Through The Gift Shop is an amazing documentary that started off focusing on street artists, however the documentary ended up being about the film maker who just decided halfway through filming that he wanted to be an artist. Watch this film it will surprise you.
Title: Re: Movie Reviews
Post by: S. Carnage Esq. on September 21, 2011, 04:10:50 PM
I thought Exit Through the Gift Shop was boring, but then again maybe that's just because I don't really "get" street art. Now if you want to see a documentary that will change your life pick up Man On Wire. It's the story of a man who tightrope-walked across the World Trade Center Towers during their construction. It shows the story of how they planned it and got through security (this was super illegal). It's like watching a real life Ocean's movie.

The only new film that has really blown me away this summer was X-Men: First Class. By far the best of the series, and one of the best comic book movies ever; second or third perhaps to only The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2. Michael Fassbender's Magneto is equal parts James Bond and Malcolm X, and blows what Sir Ian McKellen did in the first 3 X-Men films out of the water.

I recently watched Super 8 and have to say it was surprisingly good. It kind of had that same0 feel about it that films from the 80's had like Goonies and Explorers. Yes I am this old. The young cast performed well, the dialogue is a bit lengthy but the over all story is pretty good.

BTW my favourite 80's film is the Breakfast Club.

I watched the film The Help which I have wanted to see since I heard about it last year. I have to say this film was amazing, the strong and emotional storyline does give you alot to think about and the scenes of great sadness and happiness really do connect with you. The story and cast are amazing and this has to be one of the best dramas I have seen in a long time.

As I have been on holiday in the USA for the last two weeks and the cinema there is a damn site cheaper I went and saw 3 movies out there.

The Avengers which was absolutely brilliant and has to be my favourite Marvel Movie so far, the auction is brilliant the it has plenty of laughs too a great family movie.

I watched the Hunger Games and to tell you the truth after hearing most people around me rave about how amazing this movie was, was a little let down because I actually found the film didn't live up to what people were saying about it. At the of it I thought this was a good movie, but the idea was too similiar to Battle Royale to me which is one of my favourite Japanese films.

I watched MIB 3 and I really did enjoy the film and have to say that was mainly down to Josh Brolin doing an amazing job of portraying the younger version of Tommy Lee Jones character, the film has loads of laughs and a good storyline and the action is amazing. I really liked the film and is great for family viewing.

As cheesy as the movie was I really liked Joyful Noise, Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah really did some class acting and the music in the film was amazing. Very good feel good movie.

I watched Whip It on DVD last week and it's a briliant gritty chick flick. The film focuses around a girl who wants to be different and joins a girls roller derby team. The film has plenty of laughs provided by Drew Barrymore and Juliet Lewis is brillaint in the film. Great fun and action and something completely different.

I watched Rock of Ages on DVD this week and absolutely loved it. The 80s rock soundtrack is brilliant. Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin were brilliant. Grant the story was a bit cheesy but with music that good who cares. Love it
