Just saw it. It's fucking awful. It's the band playing in a warehouse, and it's all green tinted. No quick cuts, nothing that even connects the video with the song. Think Wings of a Butterfly, but no cool shots or anything. Very plain jane. There are no fans in the video either. Its labeled as a directors cut, so maybe there is a better version coming soon.

I haven't watched it yet, but if you say that there are no fans in the video, that is totally perfect, I was very afraid that it'd turn out to be an awful copy of the killing loneliness video (US), people jumping around, this kind of videos are totally stupid and ridiculous! Anyway, if the band is just there performing somewhere with nobody around... I'm really happy, Now I really want to see it! I hope my eyes won't BLEED WELL when I get to see it... :)

I just watched it and although it's nothing super special, just a pretty straight forward performance video I still liked it. Lots of good close up shots on all the guys. I did see the fans dancing in the background towards the end but only pretty quick flashes of them here and there.

i saw a making of clip on you tube and its the band in a warehouse with fans around them dancing around, headbanging, there is even a little girl behind ville giving devil horns head banging..the video doesnt look to good.

I've seen the vid. And i don't like it either.
The only thing I'm happy with is that we don't get to see the annoying dancers.
But I think that this is a very great song, and it just deserves an great video too..
So I'm really dissapointed

It's on YouTube already.
The video misses a lot of pep and dynamics. It doesn't transmit the speed of the song, looks too static, kinda.
And seriously, instead of producing that kind of video, why not take a random live performance of Bleed Well and put the original recording to that. Same effect and much cheaper.

I'm glad they didn't use the dancers. The video on youtube (making of Bleed Well) frightened me.

here's my big rant on the whole thing
-it was put together in no more than 40 minutes. waaaay rushed.
-it was done very sloppily with camera men getting in the middle of shots
-we all waited in line or waited in lobbies at the orpheum since god knows how early till 5pm and we have nothing to show for it. of course we don't expect shots of each and every one of us but you can barely make out the few extras that were there.
-At the same time I can see why they might not of used extras. after all it was a bunch of 18-20yr olds+a 7 yr old trying to dance- doesn't make for a classy video. But since we were there already you sorta had to make us feel like we were going to be apart of something.
-I feel bad for people who had to buy the album again at HT to get in. thank god i wasnt one of them
-They shouldn't of promoted it as "be in the video" since it turned out to be "watch the making of video"
-the band hardly acknowledged the fans in the crowd or the ones 3 feet away from them. at least for me it gave me the feeling of being unwanted and the band not appreciating their o so dedicated fan base that without us they'd still be a whisper in the states
and believe it or not, yes i'm a huge HIM fan. fans don't have to agree with everything

What did you expect them to do, buy everyone a round and talk about the latest Dancing with the Stars? They were working.
Not to mention, they've been touring since May. Give 'em a break.

Not so much a fan of this video, however there are some cute moments i cannot deny. Ville laughing always makes me smile (i can have my moments of happiness, can't i?)
it's nice to see performance type of stuff, but there have been videos w/ performance as well as a story line that worked perfectly well. I just thought it was plain, and it didn't hold my attention that well. Also, i would've liked to see some sort of interpretation of the song through a story line, because the song is interpreted by so many people in so many different ways. Plus the song is so upbeat and catchy, i thought for sure Sire would want some flashy non-sense, but they didn't even do that.

well i was flipping through Love Metal Archives for the sole purpose of comparing bleed well and seeing which videos i disliked most
which was quite hard for me to do, since im judging my favorite band
i found that both Heartache Every Moment videos (live and Bam's cut) were very boring videos which i didnt like
i also somewhat dislike solitary man...
i dunno
i think this Bleed Well video is really good
and dont all attack me at once, but ive noticed alot of ppl saying that FoH is their fav
personally, i dont think it the best...
but i love it, cuz that was the first video to get me hooked to them...
well no, BABL was, but who cares... i saw that one around the same time too

Just people dancing around!!! that's stupid and boring!!! sometimes when a video is this way you just see it once or you don't even finish seeing it, this kind of videos are not the ones you want to see over and over again, this video is for one look and that's is... Concept videos are really worthwhile, otherwise is crap like Killing loneliness video (US), that wasn't even a song to dance that way or to have a party with!

This is kind of true, poor "fans", but thanks God they didn't use these shots, they were really awful and frightening

My favorite videos are definitely: the funeral of hearts; it totally caught all the feeling of the song, beautiful environment, good production, guys looked great, all the different creatures in the video were the hell good! then join me, captured the song as well, nice suroundings, nice girl in it :o, band looked great. And Bams videos as well are the rest of my favorites, specially ALSN.

Judging for the quality of the production of the video I can tell you that maybe they were just messing around with the song because for the intention of a video to get air play in a music channel, this one definitely fails to accomplish that. For both American and European audiences, it's going to be the same result, hardly will MTV or any other music channel will be airing this low quality video. I think the video is more oriented to fans, not to gain new people to listen to their music which is a sad thing because the song is a very catchy one.

I like it, they haven't done a video like this before. The close to the flame and poison girl live videos are actually from concerts. This one is more like a video of them playin. I just think that mige looks weird in it wearing that hat.

Oh, definitely. It was pretty much the first thing I noticed as it's one of the best things in the entire video. :P

Well yah. It was kinda expected but they should've at least saved the scream at the end. I rather love it, in all its cheesiness.
I think with better editing and just a bit more overall effort the video could've been alright. It has some nice shots and I kinda liked the "punk rockish" vibe that comes across, but three and a half minutes of that is just... ehh.
(And as much as it sucks for the fans who attended the shoot in hopes of being included, it looks better without all the extras. Unfortunately, those things just tend to look tacky.)

There was some touchup makeup, but nothing noticable.. Everyone in music videos, movies, etc. wears a little bit of makeup

The sad part to all of this is that after watching the video this evening, I think I enjoyed the video that Nick-olodeon posted about the two chicks and a cup and thought it was better edited.
But I think the same material was used in both videos.

In music theory, most labels try to release it within two months. that way they know what the artist are really about.
the fact that they took this long consisted mainly on conflict of ideas, to later scrap it.
this was edited and rough drafted without any plans of this to be meant as a leading hit.
it is hard to bounce back up after you release a second single if the label isn't doing the right steps to promote you.
sure if you are Shakira or Beyonce they will promote and bottom their pockets to corporations so the rights can make them money and pay for either the multi million produced album and get some income upon that.
Ville knew that this album was going to be in real issues here. Not just because they just finished a really polished album, but because the support their label is giving them is not so consisted to their ideas.
In reality, this might be considered a more laid back release. Something early Bright Eyes use to their advantage and tour correctly so that their music gets known.
I hope that in the next 9 months to come the band takes good advantage and works something for the best.
The idea following in this video does not have a full grasp, i hope that they do release the full take for fans in the future to come on the DVD. because if the producer has a reputation for wild schemed ideas, this was by far his lost potential.

Seems they dont have much control over what they are doing anymore, maybe 10% of the control, but i guess thats what happens when you sign to such a major label like warner, they know what they're doing i guess.
it'll be better for everyone cause BMG was giving them terrible global distribution, but now HIM cds are everywere.

I think it is stated obvious here in America when they use the term "emo". But you are right, years ago it would have meant something else. When I hear someone being called Emo (taken from the excerpt of Emotional) I think quite literally the word Sentimental, meaning one who is attached to emotions.
Nothing more, but I guess you are right. If you don't have a periodical connection with the kids of now a days you cannot really know who or what is the "modern" phrase.
I am sure some new word will come out of something as useless from the words we use today.
