Title: Favorite Venus Doom song?
Post by: TheHeartless on August 29, 2007, 03:21:35 AM: Since I started listening to HIM, each album has had a few songs that it took me some effort to like, but that really grew on me later. With Dark Light that was over half the album. But with Venus Doom, I've only found one song so far that I can't tell if I like or not, and that's Love in Cold Blood. Every other one that has shown up on the net or whatever, has just impressed the hell out of me and I am confident that this will be their best album yet. They may have a hard time topping it.

Anyhow, my favorite at the moment is the title track because it's just so damn hard-hitting. What about you all

venus doom... amazing stuff... i love the beginning when you first hear ville's breath in and then all the instruments set in...

i'm also really excited for the full love in cold blood and especially dead lover's lane... also very amazing what i heard so far...

Also Passion's Killing Floor is very good song - this is how Dark Light should sound.

I gotta say that Sleepwalking Past Hope it's a great title and should be a great song as well, looking forward to listening to it. My (current) VD song is Dead Lover's Lane.

I started listening to HIM 4 years ago and I got such a steady flow of new songs from their already extensive discography that having to really wait for the next stuff to come out has been an incredible chore. I've been like floating around looking for the keys to heartagram.com and checking torrent sites every day hoping something new has popped up.

this material is top notch, I think its great that they decided to record when they did,
everything i've heard so far is blowing my mind, really didn't expect this, thought they were gonna get softer, but its good to see that this album is more guitar oriented, same with love metal.

Love in Cold Blood - 10/10, chorus and lyrics, gives me the same feeling as bleed well
Passion's Killing Floor - 9/10, the intro hook, chorus, and breakdown are all great
Venus Doom - 9/10, this breakdown is the best i have ever heard
Sleepwalking Past Hope - 7.5/10, its good, seems to drag on, maybe purposely
Dead Lover's Lane - 7.5/10, i don't like this song now, but its one that i will love later
Cyanide Sun - 7/10, to me it was a disappointment, but still a solid song, i was expecting way too much, the ending is great though
Kiss of Dawn - 6.5/10, tolerable, a horrible choice for a single though
Song or Suicide - 4/10, near worthless, its not like its bad, its just worthless, because of this the album basically only has 8 songs

I mean the song has so much going on for it.
it's got a calming almsot tranquil kind of feel to it during the verses, it has a great chorus that packs a punch, and the solo is one of my favorites by far.

its just a great overall song
