Post by: lastxcallforsin on March 21, 2007, 03:46:23 PM
My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar has revealed some of the acts that will accompany them on the Projekt Revolution Tour. Not sure where this tour takes place, but these are the confirmed bands.

HIM
Linkin Park
My Chemical Romance
Taking Back Sunday
Billy Talent

From the Demos that I have heard of Linkin Park, they are doing a good job leaving the "nu metal" out a bit. It still has their rap stuff.
Though I guess Rick Rubin must be worth every cent if they used him after 'Tallica.

(There is also a fake setlist floating around).

As for the Tour, I wouldn't bother with this one.

I've always been a fan of Linkin Park, so I might go to see them once. Maybe HIM will even play a new song or something. Besides, I'm not going to Ozzfeset again this summer, so this could be cool.

I'll have to find a way to get MCR out of my head though.

The line-up is sick! Also confirmed for the tour are Saosin, The Bled, Placebo, and Mindless Self Idulgence!

Linkin Park puts on a good show.  My friend got thrown out for throwing his sock on stage (what a fag).  He ended up missing Limp Bizkit (no loss) and Metallica, but he made it on the Live In Texas DVD.  He's in a frame shot for about a split second.

Besides, if LPs new stuff continues to sound like "QWERTY" I'm interested.

Yeah I just heard it this morning. There are only two "decent" songs. The rest blow chunks. Maybe they'd have been better off staying as nu-metal.

I think the only "Nu-Metal" band I have ever liked is Cold. They were good, though their new band is more soft than any of their previous work. I am hopeful to hear their catalog either on Tour or purchase their material.
L.P. had maybe two or three good songs that were "ok" not that amazing, but it was because their keyboardist/ what the hell he is (that lil' asian dude) created some good riffs.
Can't say I care for the Band, they recorded their new album 15 minutes away from my Parents house. Plus maybe a week ago I bumped into their Producer (Rick Rubin)(who is doing as we speak the new 'Tallica album) and he said some interesting comments about their work as well as L.P.'s creative flow.

$5 says HIM (Ville) fucks it up somehow.

It seems like anytime they have a shot at getting some mainstream attention, its sabotaged.  Even with the saturation of HIM shit at hot topic, they aren't mainstream and may not want to be.  My guess is that they back out and do their own tour because they aren't headliners (and they don't like opening much).

Either way, they really need to change the setlist and arrangements up.  They can drop Wicked Game as Three Days Grace is playing it now.  They have more than enough material to play well past an hour.  If they are going to make a bid for mainstream attention, they're gonna have to step it up live.

Sorry for ranting.

Tickets are more than what I'd thought they'd be, but at least I get to see Placebo. Wasn't able to when they toured the US for the first time. I'm excited as hell to see HIM again, of course, and don't really mind having to stand through the other bands. They're all definitely tolerable, on the main stage anyway.

WOW. This is probably the worst news I have heard in a long time. EVERY SINGLE band besides HIM sucks veryyyy bad. If HIM are "Going back to their roots" how about touring with bands that have real talent. I am now debating  whether or not to go. I might just wait for another tour they do with maybe just one sucky band and not a whole page of emo bitches.

I'm excited about this tour. I like MCR and TBS enough to want to see them live, although I wouldn't go see a show just for them. LP is good live, saw them once before when Meteora came out, so I'm looking forward to them. And of course, our boys. It's been a year since they last came into town so I'm excited to see them again. At least they'll be playing some new material!

no, this is not the official US tour, this tour is good for the band because people who have never heard HIM before will be exposed to their music.

What I mean is there will be another headlining tour. When Dark Light was released HIM did a short festival tour followed by a headlining tour. Same thing here. Hopefully the sets are longer then 30 minutes...

AHh.. I actually completely loathe every band on this shit fest tour besides my favorite band HIM. They need to tour with Katatonia and some fucking doom bands. Enough with this god damn emo shit.
Title: Re: Projekt Revolution Tour
Post by: Daedalus on May 09, 2007, 11:44:53 PM
The fact of the matter is, all of the headliner bands on this show are part of the Warner Bros. records family. Regardless of which bands should play with whom, since they are all from the same label they are being grouped together. The good news is that since LP, MCR and TBS will bring in a large amount of people, HIM will get more exposure among people who may otherwise have not bothered to listen to them. This can only help the band. Of course, I would prefer a tour where HIM headlined, but hey I'll take what I can get.

I'm excited to see them in a bigger venue, it will  be different.  I don't care where or who they play with, i'll go just as long as their there.  Plus there's probably gonna be a seperate tour with them headlining.
Title: Re: Projekt Revolution Tour
Post by: Daedalus on May 12, 2007, 08:18:06 PM
Agreed. I never thought I'd see them play at the Smirnoff Music Center here in Dallas, but lo and behold they are. The next big place for them to play around here is the American Airlines Center. I told a friend of mine years ago that HIM would never play there. Now, I'm not so sure that won't happen within the next few years...

One thing extra, at Target we will be selling copies of the new LP CD on tuesday that have an advance ticket sale promotion. You'll be allowed to buy up to 4 tickets for select shows on the Project Revolution tour early. You'll be able to buy tickets as early as Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm not sure which venues, they don't tell you till after you've opened it. Anyways, it'll be 11.99 in most places, if anyone is interested.

Alright, sweet. Record companies will do anything for money. Wouldn't it suck if it were random which venues your CD gives you access to? That'd piss so many people off. Haha. "Yeah, dude. It says right here you can pre-order tickets to the Chicago show. Go get the CD." Then you buy it and you get California or some shit.
Title: Re: Projekt Revolution Tour
Post by: Daedalus on May 12, 2007, 08:40:42 PM
Hahaha, and you know which asshole has to deal with the pissed off customers? ME! I sometimes work the electronics counter at my store and I'm sure that if the Dallas venue isn't covered I'll get alot of people trying to return the disc. And then I gotta explain why I can't take back an opened CD due to copyright laws. Then they wanna speak to a manager. Then I say that I am. Then they don't believe me. Ask to speak to "my superior". He comes over, looks at them, looks at me and asks me what I think we should do.
/damn the man.
Title: Re: Projekt Revolution Tour

I didn't need any stinkin' presale.  Pit area tickets were still available at the Selma show.  The Woodlands show was fucked and was already in the shitty seats.  I guess I'll have to try to win tickets to it.

So I'm looking at the seating chart for Smirnoff, and since there is a pit, my section doesn't start until row G. That means I'm only 6 rows back, instead of 12! Of course, I still have the pit in front of me...but at least I'm nearly as close as possible while still having seats.

I ordered them off ticketmaster (by phone) on saturday when they went on sale for the cuyahoga falls show.  I got four tickets, 12 rows from the stage and left center (i think seats like 18, 19,20 and 21 or something like that).  It came to like $313 and some cents wit the tax, shipping and parking pass.  I'm so excited  but it's like tree months away.

I've always wanted to go to Smirnoff, but Dallas is just too far for me being that I'm about an hour and a half away from Austin and Houston.

AHh.. I actually completely loathe every band on this shit fest tour besides my favorite band HIM. They need to tour with Katatonia and some fucking doom bands. Enough with this god damn emo shit.

YES - Katatonia and Amorphis.  That would be awesome and very appropriate.  Or at least Type O......

HELL YEAH!! Best two bands at Helldone...they should take Helldone on the road!!  But I'm going to Chicago and Dallas anyway.  ::)

Even if they do have a 30 min set, that would suck so amazingly bad.  but if they do, than they'd better play a lot of the new material.

They'll probably have more time hopefully.  We'll find out cuz the first date for proj rev is comin up in a couple days.

Hopefully we get a set list tomorrow. Linkin Park has already announced a rotation of 3 set list for the tour consisting of 21-23 songs. I'm hoping HIM gets at least 10 songs.

EDIT: It seems My Chemical Romance will get an hour long set. I'm guessing this means HIM will get a 30-45 min. set.

Alright I went to the Seattle Show yesterday. Wasn't anything I expected at all.

I drive to the venue the day before check it out, I see a PR Tour Bus leave. I follow it to a hotel, and see a white tour bus. I ask all the people walking around they say we are just a sound crew, and I ask for what band they say HIM. So, I asked is HIM in there and he says they should be. I proceeded to wait in my car for them (this was at 9 PM), all the way until 6:30 AM I see a sound guy come out, and I ask is HIM in there, they say yes I saw them eat breakfast. We waited until 11:30 AM and both tour buses leave with no HIM. Very dissapointing.

Anyways, got to the venue didn't watch the Revolution stage or whatever. Just waited in line for the pit. At 4 they let us in, and I get front in center with my brother, and his friend.

Julien K - They were very good...I thought they'd suck but they were awesome, and they were the loudest band there. I met the lead singer, and white haired key boarder during TBS set.

Placebo - Never heard them, they guys voice sucked. The band didn't go together there was a cowboy who looked gay, a fucking weird ass bassist with the bass face on the whole time, and the lead singers voice was WEIRD. I didn't like them.

HIM - They all come out Gas has a new drum set. Burton was wearing some chinese outfit. Ville got a 2 new tattoos I noticed the Venus Doom white cover specialt edition on the inside of his bicep where the faces are. And some other type of demon on the same arm. He was wearing a see through shirt, and it looked like he had lyrical tattoos on his back, but I don't know.

Dead Lovers Lane
Passion's Killing Floor
Kiss of Dawn
Wings of a Butterfly
Killing Loneliness
Vampire Heart
Wicked Game
Right Here In My Arms
Buried Alive By Love
Soul On Fire

To tell you the truth HIM did great, minus Ville. You would watch all the other bands get into it. He looked either pissed of, or filthy drunk. But it just wasn't the best I've seen him. He just stood there didn't even take the mic off the holder thing.

Taking Back Sunday - They did a great job, sounded good, a lot of energy.

My Chemical Romance - Did great, a lot of pyro, and sounded great. Definately a fan favorite.

Linkin Park - Didn't watch

Overall the concert was good. The crowd sucked, and I think it will for the whole tour. There were only about 10 surfers, and no mosh pit. The crowd didn't move. I always thought it would be awesome at a concert like this, but I realized you can not get into if you just sit there. It's like extacsy. So the crowd was a peice of shit.

I know many people here will hate it if it was anything like my experience. Hopefully Pheonix will be better for me.

I think its good they FINALLY stopped playing Join me. That song has been raped for 7 years now. I thought it was nice seeing them(at the metallica show) not playing Join me. But i agree with Jay, they should cut out Wicked game too...i mean HOW long are you gonna play a song just because it was their first commercial succsess.
But HIM should start changing their set lists soon. Their playing the same shit all the time.

I wanna hear them play more stuff like Pretending, Lose You Tonight, Stigmata Diaboli, Beyond Redemption...I'm sick of BABL and Wicked Game at EVERY show. At least Join Me has been phased out. It'll be a welcome return for it during 2008 or 2009 whenever they decide to bring it back. I just wish I'd get to hear them play Heartache Every Moment. It's my favorite song and I still haven't seen it live. I was lucky enough to see when they played In Joy and Sorrow last June, and I suppose that's as much DSBH as I'm gonna get for a while.

I hope I'm not the only one, but Wings Of A Butterfly has sounded awful at every live show I've heard so far.

I'm really glad they have finally decided to pull Join Me, hopefully that will translate to every tour they do from here on out. Wicked Game can sound very cool, but it hasn't in the past few years. The best live versions of that can be found circa Razorblade era in my opinion.

Nice to see they are playing the new stuff, but I'd separate it out a little. At least play some of the old stuff first, so some of the crowd could possibly recognize it.

Tried to record HIM's set in Mountain View today but security caught me and asked me to stop. I tried to be sneaky about it, but they caught me a second time as well. Fuckers...  I only managed to get video of Dead Lovers Lane and Wings of a Butterfly. I left the camera recording pointed at the ground so I could at least get the audio of the last few songs. Set list was as follows

Dead Lovers Lane (video)
Wings of a Butterfly (video)
Buried Alive By Love (partial audio)
Wicked Game
Vampire Heart
Passion's Killing Floor (audio)
Soul On Fire (audio)
Killing Loneliness (audio)
Kiss of Dawn (audio)

Expect the video and audio to be uploaded tomorrow.

You can use the program Riva FLV Encoder to convert your video to flash and then upload to YouTube. A 4 minute file will typically be 15-20 megs after the conversion and be the same quality the video would turn out to be after uploading to YouTube anyways.

I might go to the show in Cleveland if I can get off work.

I'll just be purchasing lawn seats, I have no intention of laying down big bucks to see HIM play a shortened set. Linkin Park and Placebo should be fun to see as well, just a shame I have to sit through Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance to do it.

What kind of merchandise are they selling at the show? Pictures would be nice; if possible.

Man, I just got back from the Selma show.

I decided to skip the 2nd stage acts due to suckiness and the heat and made it there just in time to catch the end of Placebo's set.

HIM disappointed me.  The new songs sound great, but the Ville just seems like he's going through the motions.  One song after another made it seem like it was a 30 minute set rather than 40.

What was funny was how people were calling HIM "fags" (keep in mind I'm in Texas) when the guy from Taking Back Sunday was prancing around with a limp wrist all night.  Though nobody left the stadium believing that Gerard Way from MCR was straight.

He came out on stage and vogued for what seemed like forever.  He later asked the "boys" in the audience to take their shirts off as he smiled and "ooh and ahh'd" and called one guy "a fine specimen of a man."

Despite all that, MCR did put on a great show, as did Linkin Park.  I found an LP pick on the ground a few feet from me as people walked out.

Overall, the show was awesome, and I hate to say it, but HIM was boring.

Oh, and anyone going to future shows, I need a favor.

Two shirts I wanted were sold out.  A heartagram inside a ribcage looking one, and a similar one with tour dates on the back.

If anyone would be willing to do that, PM me, and I'll get your details for the transaction.  Thanks!

Pic of one of the shirts in question for those who wanted to see it. I think this was the only one with tour dates. There were only three HIM shirts, this one, the ribcage one and a queer one with a gawdy white ornate heartagram all over the front and back.
By the way, just got back from the Dallas show and really all I can say is that it sounds like my experience is the same Jay had at his show. HIM wasn't bad, but certainly not as good as other bands. It left me disapointed especially because of all the non HIM fans that were there that will remain non fans. Getting to hear DLL, PKF and KOD was nice. PKF is really heavy in person and it seemed that the crowd was fairly into KOD.

I haven't posted much, but im going to the Augest 31st show in Noblesville, i live about 45 mins away so when i heard HIM was coming to town, i was down.  I saw HIM last year in June in Chicago and i have to say it was a great show. Being it was my first time seein them live, i didn't know it was great compared to other shows, but they played for about an hour, then a 4 song encore.

Songs (No Order)

Pretending
In Joy and Sorrow
Your sweet 666
Buried alive by love
The Sacrament
Right here in my arms
wicked game
vampire heart
soul on fire
poison girl

and there could be a few others, but i just remember when they played their last note. EVERYONE in the place was chanting HIM, HIM, HIM, for at least 20 mins.

First Show, cant will till the 31st!
Sorry to ramble off topic

Killing is fine Jen, but sometimes you need to be a bit more creative.

Just killing execution style would not satisfy me, I admit.

But back to PR:

How have the Linkin Park sets been? I must admit, I'm a long running LP fan. If anyone could post some set lists, or possibly pictures of some of their merch, that would be fantastic.

Here's a teeny-tiny article about Projekt Rev, taken (and translated) from today's Ilta-Sanomat magazine -

"Ville Valo and HIM have been touring the U.S. for three weeks as a support band. According to Ville, the tour has gone well. The bands they share the stage with - Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Placebo - have neither been cocky nor put others bands down.
HIM hasn't done many support gigs in the past. That is why Ville feels a bit disappointed.
–  It's a little boring to be honest, he admits.
–  It's the everlasting role of the support act. You get to play at daylight and only for 40 minutes. That's the time it takes to get your body into it!
Later in the fall there will be a change. When the anticipated Venus Doom is released, HIM will start a world tour. At least in the United States and in Europe HIM will be the main act with others supporting them."

Here is a list of programs that could help with recording a streaming flash file

http://emoney.al.ru/capture-streaming-video-and-audio/record-webcam-video.htm

I'm sure someone here will at least record the audio. I would record it, but I'm not sure if I will be home that day. The above programs don't record audio or don't do it very well though so maybe we should have one person record video and another record audio then combine the files. I miss the good old days when we used to have windows media streams...

If it's a windows media stream, WM Recorder should be sufficient. If it's a flash stream we will need a screen capturing program. I hope someone records the whole thing. If I am home, I will at least record the audio. I'm worried about it being on myspace though, as their servers seem to fuck up often.

Well I got a full bootleg of the Cleveland HIM set in about B+/A- quality. The problem is, I the only way to record audio on my camera is to take a movie of it. I had the camera in my pocket to filter the sound, so the picture is nonexistent. If someone could provide me with the name of a program to rip audio from a "movie file," I have no problem sharing it with all you guys.

The setlist was:

Passion's Killing Floor
Soul On Fire
Wings Of A Butterfly
Right Here In My Arms (w/ TV Eye outro)
Dead Lover's Lane (so far this is the best live recording I've heard of it)
Wicked Game
Under The Rose
It's All Tears (Drown In This Love)
You Suffer - Napalm Death cover
Kiss Of Dawn

Audio Codec: MPEG Layer 2 64 kbps
Title: Re: Projekt Revolution Tour

Looks like you should rip mp3s at 64kbps. Have you tried it yet?
Title: Re: Projekt Revolution Tour
Post by: lastxcallforsin on August 18, 2007, 02:02:45 AM
I used total video converter to get the audio from my Projekt Revolution recording. Any video to audio converter or splitter should be fine. You should convert/rip to 128 kbps. MP3 is a lossy format so converting it at the same bitrate as the original (64 kbps) will result in lower quality.

You might want to try a torrent site to get a cracked program because most of the ones out there cost money and the trials are very limited.
Title: Re: Projekt Revolution Tour
Post by: eairthrow on August 18, 2007, 11:30:20 AM
You should use the program called VirtualDub! You can open the video file with VD and in the File menu (save Wav) you can save the audio! And with Nero wave editor you can convert wav to mp3. I think VirtualDub is free, Nero is not, send me a PM and i share it with you if you don't have VirtualDub or Nero!

You Suffer! Haha! The shortest song in the world! The original song is 3 or 4 sec long! :D

I must say that this tour that they've put togeather was pretty amazing. It was so weird seing HIM play on a bigger stage but I thought they were awsome.  They could of got more into it but that's all right.  I like pretty much everyone's act so much.  I didn't really want to watch MSI, but that's the only one i missed.   My chemical romance actually put on a really great performance, gerard was crazy as usual.  And of course Linkin Park was just non stop hits.

I caught a drum stick from the bled and got it signed by there bass player.  I also got a poster signed by Placebo and i got my ticket signed by Julien-K.
I was really disappointed though because i missed HIM's signing.  It was way before their set and it was at 2 o'clock.  I kept seeing if they were walking around in between things and was trying to get back stage but nothing worked out.

I must say i had fun more fun at this concert than anyone I've been to.  And also thanks to steve carniage for the bootleg.  This is my review i guess.

HIM had a signing at 2!?!?! I was there about an hour before than and didn't hear a thing. Someone said they weren't doing signings.....they shall be punished.

I liked Julian K, it was like Depeche Mode, The Sisters Of Mercy, and The 69 Eyes rolled into one. Placebo was alright, but nothing special. HIM of course was very good. I was in line for food through most of Taking Back Sunday, and personally, I thought My Chemical Romance was awful. They have a good stage presence, but I don't like any of their songs.

Seeing Linkin Park was definitely one of the big culminations of my old musical taste. I listened to them all the time back when I was in 6th and 7th grade. They played most of my favorite songs, with the exception of "Forgotton" and "My December."

What software did you use to capture the concert and what is the file size?
I used WM Recorder to rip the stream and ended up with a 212 mb file. For an internet stream the quality is surprisingly good. Much better then the KROQ webcast last year.

What kind of bootlegs do we have as far as audio/video other than HIM?

I have video of

Saosin + Interview
Mindless Self Indulgence + Interview
Placebo (missing first couple minutes of set)
HIM + Interview
Taking Back Sunday
My Chemical Romance (stream died toward end of set so missing Helena and possibly another song, fixed in time for last song Cancer)
Linkin Park (first 30 minutes of recording fucked up and skips constantly; everything after "Don't Stay" is fine)

EDIT: There are good versions of Linkin Park's performance on Demenoid and a fixed (in sync) version is supposed to be on LPProjekt.com soon.

did any get the julien-k set on mp3 or video?

Julien-K wasn't streamed! Am I right? Placebo was the first.

Julien K was streamed, but it started earlier then scheduled so I didn't get it.

Yeah, the band seemed bored, but I would be the same if I was playing in front of an unenthusiastic crowd ::)
I mean...did those people even moved? To me, they all seemed like they were either sleeping, on drugs, or dead...

Most people were there for MCR or Linkin Park, if you caught any of LP's set the crowd was much more full and energetic.

I can't understand how they are being that wasted by Warner, opening for that kind of stuff.

My thoughts exactly! WB should have let HIM have a proper tour with them as headliners + support ...they would have sold out all shows!

But WB probably thought HIM needed more exposure...yeah, like they need more exposure to emo scene kids ::)

I went to the 8/24 Projekt concert in Mansfield and I thought I'd do a little review perhaps? Although I don't think it was much different from what everyone else was experiencing.

This was my first time seeing HIM in concert and even though they only played for 40 minutes, it was still awesome to see the whole band. Linde, Mige, and Gas looked like they had the most fun. Ville.....as many probably already know, looked bored by the whole thing. His hair was again up in that stupid cap (newspaper boy type?) and so it looked like he was bald and trying to hide it. He say through all the songs kind of mechanically with only some variations. His voice sounded really good though, doing all the long notes and such really well.

Linde walked around the stage a bit, as well as Mige, but Ville stayed rooted to his mic only moving to get water/beer and relight his cigerettes. My friend and her brother (not HIM fans whatsoever) commented on Ville's ability to inhale the smoke and exhale the note as well as the smoke. They seemed to be impressed. They also thought he smoked too much, with a cig lit up through the entire performance.

When it was done, Ville literally ended the last note, and briskly sped off the stage, not even thanking the crowd. I thought that was a bit rude as there were a ton of fans that were proudly shouting their HIM-ness to the band. I was actually surprised how many people walking around the concert were wearing HIM t-shirts. I also got tons of compliments on my HIM shirt, again a little surprised. By the number of fans there were of HIM's I wouldn't be surprised if they were headlining the tour, but unfortunately they were not.

Anyways, Gas was the last one to leave the stage, tossing his drum sticks to excited fans and then proceeding to bow multiple times to the crowd. Overall the performance was good, if a little short and kind of stiff on Ville's part.

I took a couple of short vids that I'll try to upload to megaupload and then pass the links around if anyone wants to see them.

I went to the 8/25 PR show. HIM was awesome as always! Ville was cracking some jokes and giving the crowd sme great smiles and laughs. NEw songs kicked ass but as ppl said before they looked alittle bored.

Im not a huge fan of MCR but Gerald Way got sick from the heat in the middle of his set and threw up on stage but kept rockin' like a pro! I will give him that!

if i was playing infront of a bunch of seated fans i would be pretty boring i would want movement and more interaction with the crowd i guess thats
why they perform better at there own gigs

I'm going to have to say, it was my 5th time seeing them.

and everytime ive seen them, i was blown away. completely.

but yesterday

SUCKED

the entire band was not into it, just blew through every song, didnt talk to anybody. and when the last song was done Ville just threw his mic down and stormed off the stage.

I mean i sort of felt bad for them, it looked like they did not want to be there one bit.

They played.

Passions Killing Floor
Wings of a Butterfly
Wicked Game
Your Sweet Six Six Six
Killing Lonliness
Kiss of Dawn
Dead Lovers Lane
Vampire Heart

but not in that order.

but overall the show was just not good and im very glad i went for free.
