wtf is that?
wouldn't make sense to release that in my opinion...

Maybe it's not WB  ???

http://www.amazon.de/Uneasy-Listening-Vol-666-Him/dp/B000IFRWGC/sr=1-21/qid=1158577849/ref=sr_1_21/302-9856005-2394406?ie=UTF8&s=music

This says Gun Records, which is Sony BMG, so maybe Warner has nothing to do with it.   I wonder does Sony BMG still have license to those songs, to do that  ???  Or will Warner have something to say about it...

Yeah, they could SO do without those.  They're cashing in in the worst way. :(

The title "uneasy listening" makes it sound like they're bad songs!

they dont have the rights to use dark light material.... they are trying to milk the songs that they can still use.... i'll be buying it
Title: Re: uneasy listening vol. 666
Post by: Len777 on September 19, 2006, 02:22:53 PM
they should at least have some demos on there from the albums like all the love metal stuff that everybody has been dying to hear. that would really sell i think.

all sounds abit dodgy to me
Title: Re: uneasy listening vol. 666
Post by: Tauriainen on September 19, 2006, 03:20:35 PM
Some of those "mixes" are actually part of a Club Promo.
I have some of those songs if they are really talking about the 2,oo2 Remix LP.
Plus, O.L.T. isnt really much of a good mix at all.

I dont know even know what the hell is going on but I guess if it makes money they will see it. Even if its old crap.

It's stupid, you should all refuse to buy it and download it instead. 9/10 of them are remixes we already have. HIM are just playing people like fools now. BMG, Sony or whoever the band must have SOME consent to release these or at least make the new versions.
Title: Re: uneasy listening vol. 666
Post by: Len777 on September 19, 2006, 09:44:49 PM
i hope the band doesn't have anything to do with this but some of those new mixes do intrigue me so.

Just to stop everyone saying the picture is a blue Bjork :P ...it's actually a blue segment version of a picture by an artist called Alfons Mucha - it was used on an advertising poster called "Cycles Perfecta".
He is an artist I like the work of, so the Bjork reference has to stop ;)

Thanks JenX, now I see it:)

i always wanted ville to release an acoustic CD, but im not so fond of some of those acoustic versions.

i like the ones he does not-in-studio far far better.

i wish he would put out an acoustic cd as well. hopefully sometime in the future i wantd to hear acoustic versions from dark light on the singles but no luck i think from hearing him play and sing a little bit of dark light acoustic in the making of video it sounds like it would be an amazing acoustic song.

are any of these songs newly remixed or different or new or something.  Or is it just them putting a whole bunch of shit togeather?  Because there were wierd remix's of the path, join me and stuff that i've never heard of ?

I know I'll end up buying the CD... I can't help myself, but I think it's wrong that BMG is still trying to cash-in on HIM.. that's the music buisness for you though!

Don't like all these compilations, but The Sacrament Disrythm Remix is one of my favourite HIM songs, so at least they are choosing decent songs.

Remember that terrible box set with the first three albums?  Everyone thought it was fake, but turns out it was disappointingly real.  I think that's the way this "Uneasy Listening" is going to turn out.

I won't buy this stupid shit.

1. Those unreleased mixes should have been B-Sides on singles instead!

2. The Cover is terrible! Looks like som fucking Indian music!

3. That they even have a different versions of it so people who likes HIM have to buy them all! (?)

Stupid fucking shit! DON'T BUY THIS CD! Let's show those fucking assholes that they can't milk money from us with stupid shit like this!
Title: Re: uneasy listening vol. 666

Actually, there's only one tracklisting for all countries now. While I'm not a fan of the label milking us for more money, I'm not adverse to buying a compliation CD with 5 new remixes on it. $13.99 plus sales tax is worth it to me for that.

my oppinion about new mixes: nothing special
one last time, close to the flame and the sacrament sound like a kind of demos

note, i only have those 30 seconds sound samples

Those are defintely demos you can tell even with Join Me. The sound isn't perfect like album or other remixes they make. I think all the unreleased stuff is demos.

original sound samples are in wma format maybe that is the problem
but the internet explorer for mac must work, dont know

the lose you toonight sound as the caravan version but i think it have more length (8:16)
i saw that on mtv.com shop the price its only 12,25$ when in europe the more cheap site will be 15€ (18.80$)

CD backside:

It's our Macs. Could someone rip the samples and post them?

Here (verzend.be (files to 1gb!)) (http://www.verzend.be/v/7681199/30_sec_Uneasy_Listening.rar.html) or here (Bestsharing) (http://www.bestsharing.com/files/ms001150733/30%20sec%20-%20Uneasy%20Listening.rar.html) are the 30 seconds versions of:
Close To The Flame - Rappula Tapes
Join Me In Death - Strongroom Mix
Lose You Tonight - Thulsa Doom Extended
One Last Time - Rockfield Madness Mix
The Path - P. S. Version
When Love And Death Embrace - Aor Mj Edit

It is the internetrip so it is in .wma (32 kbps)
and if that doesn't work it is also converted to .mp3 (192kbps)
.rar, 12 files, 4728kb
Not the best quality and only 30 seconds, so it is uneasy listening

yep, i think its exactly the same, but on the pretending digipack the length of this track is 6:08 and on the album will be over 8 minutes, so probably its an uncut version of the same song

i hope for the love metal demos some day

on the sonybmg spanish site and one spanish radio says this:
Para Ville Valo, el líder de la banda finlandesa, "El Volumen 1 es música para escuchar los domingos por la mañana, mientras que el Volumen 2 es para bailar los sábados por la noche".

according to ville valo: " volume 1 is music to listen sunday mornings, meanwhile vol2 is to dance saturday nights"

first release, its the more sentimental on the collection, that will include rarities and unreleased versions of his previuos albums:  Greatest lovesongs, Vol. 666 (1997), Razorblade romance (1999), Deep shadows and brilliant higlights (2001) y Love metal (2003).

Con respecto al segundo volumen, la formación aún no desvelado ni su contenido ni la fecha exacta de publicación.

About the second volume, the formation (band, but must be sony) havent revealed his content or release date

i wont say this is 100% for same reasons
for example says that the label of the band is sony, when is the old label, for spain in the oficial site have 2 dates
26 and 31, but will be 31 because its tueday
and also says something more about the mixer and the recording place that seems to be copied from darklight

but seems the vol2 will be soon on 2007, and if its true that ville quote, the band already know about this, and sould be the dance mixes that we alreday know and probably some more new

i would prefer a love metal archive vol 2 or 3 with rare video stuff

As Jay said earlier about the Love Metal Demo's...
That would be amazing.
Mainly to get Rescue. That would complete me right there.

Or the demo to Love's Requiem. The first recording to that in only in Ville's possesion, not even Bam has it.

But yet it is nearly one of the first songs Ville had written.

Just listened to the soundbites and I can't wait for my cd.  I would love them to sound like this all the time.  It gives Ville's songs the real emotion they seem to lack when they are rocked up.  I am living in hope that their time in the musical wasteland until next October will see them emerge as the Doom Metal  band they have the potential to be as witnessed last New Year.  I already like this more than Dark Light which I rarely play - but then my previous favourite was DSABH.  Love Metal was the consummate commercial goth/rock album but Ville's writing is and voice is worthly of so much more than that.  Let's have more Aaron (My Dying Bride) Ville and less Goth Boy Band.  It is time they grew up and I get the feeling from recent concerts that they want to. ::)

(Jack Sparrow... yes "The Path's" got that "For You" thing about it, hasn't it ;D)

I'm in two minds about getting this cd now - think I probably will, especially if there really is a Vol 2 following it sometime soon.

:D  You dont forget about my favorite song do you!  ;D

Well I think I will wait for Vol 2.   You know? its gonna be a $15+ cd and there's only 5 or 6 unreleased versions.   mmmm also the cover is not that eye catching.

I think Love's Reqiuem is the first song Ville wrote. Maybe they demo'd it on Witches & Other Nightfears?

No doubt there is a "Love Metal" demo of it, but a 1992 demo would be unimaginable!

This is odd, today, Amazon put up the page for Uneasy Listening Vol 2, with this description and a release date.

Product Description
The second volume of this two part 2006 compilation featuring remixes and alternate versions of tracks that show the more aggressive side of the Finnish Goth Metallers, all released prior to their 2005 'breakthrough' album Dark Light. (Volume One, released separately, will feature alternate versions of their softer cuts). RCA.

Availability: This title will be released on October 31, 2006. Pre-order now. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

It is, but ya gotta remember that Universal is the one releasing it stateside. They are kinda dumb. Although apparently this particular version of Vol.2 isn't them. It's listed as "Import" with no record label listed, other than RCA, leading me to believe it's the U.K. version. Could just be them jumping the gun a bit on next years disc, or maybe, just maybe we will get Vol.2 later this year...

Aggressive side... e.g. Beginning Of The End remixes ;D

Yesterday Ville gave some interviews in Helsinki to promote their album “Uneasy listening Vol1” to be released on November a compilation of rare songs...

"the recond company suggested a compilation, i did spit on the idea 'ALSN' was out just 2 years ago, but it's a good way for songs and versions ppl haven't heard before can do it now" Valo explained..

and who cares

when u buy the cd

just take out the back part and replace it if u hate it that much

The journey seems endless, but I will carry on
The shadows will rise and they will fall
You're Hiding your smile away

I have the Promo of this album.
I cant say I like it (the artwork) its too plain, though it resembles DS&BH.
The music is disappointing.
I was expecting the version that I have of Clothes To The Fame to be in here, it sounds like they used the first outtake, plus the intro is something I do when I am bored at the Piano. I found it odd.

Shakes posted this on the Heartagram forum...

"The first pressing of "Uneasy Listening Vol. 1" will have the artwork of A. Mucha that was already contained with your CDs. HOWEVER, the artist's estate apparently didn't approve the use in full, so it's been revised (to a version that's a sort of knockoff, and apparently not as good looking. I don't know whether or not Finland / other countries will still release it with the original art later on, but Universal/JFRC pressed about 50,000 of them, so if you want one of those, buy a copy in the first few months or so."

So apparantly the first pressing artwork wasn't approved by the artist, so the artwork posted by Daedalus will be on any future pressings, but the artwork will be the same for all versions.

You're hiding your heart away
And it feels like holding hope
Sleeping the fear away
Our dream is the same
And so are we
In our search for something more

Oh, don't you see
It's been here all along

I see it through the darkness
My way back home
The journey seems endless
But I'll carry on
The shadows will rise
And they will fall

You're hiding your smile away

Sleep the night awake
The dreams we have are the same

Shadows rise and they fall

The night drowns in dawn

Most people seemed unappreciative of this album
When you have been working for or under a label and certain bands can't get their catalog renewed that's because the 'Big Machine' is taking the money out of your pockets. Just because they offer you "special" things upon releases,  does not mean it is good.
If you have their previous Singles Box Set you are not missing out, if they want to release a box set of demo's than let them. But taking out volume's of crap is not really a need to purchase it.
Sure you can call yourself a (Super) Fan for owning each version ever released by this band (or any in General).
If you are aware of releases of The Doors, Heroes Del Silencio, Bob Marley Bob Dylan ... etc etc ... these are the same stories.
There should be a line between an idiot and a dumb ass.

No offense to anyone here, I am speaking in a general term about this and what is over production of material and releases.

If your next comment by anyone persists with "Well wouldn't you want your band to release albums like these?". No. Art and Greed don't come to all of us.
:)

You say greed wont get you...  but trust me it does...

once that moment of money comes...

I guarantee 99% sell.

EDIT

HIM signed to the new label because they wanted to and they got Big Bucks for it.

they knew what they were doing.

If they truly wanted their music then they would of went with Jimmy pops label

It kinda sucks when you know you're making good music and everybody that hears it instantly loves it but you aren't getting promoted properly.

A major label does just that; they promote the fuck out of bands that show alot of promise.

Also, it's a job just like any other so if you get the chance to get some money so you can afford more studio time, better instruments and better producers, why not take it?

If the idea of Uneasy Listening was alternate versions of "THEIR" biggest hits then why do they have covers of other bands songs?

I admit.
I logged in under Jay and saw what the whole fun was about being a Mod.

I can proudly say for five minutes my testicles descended, but went back in when I logged out.
:(

So has anyone figured it out or not yet?
Should I leave it running longer as to what is not accurate of those "Demo's"?

Anyone could mix a few songs and call them "rare demo's"

But... I have a feeling of  these being unreleased mixes... well of course they are. But you know, songs that did not make the album.

Post by: Weemo on March 10, 2007, 09:17:23 AM
Could it be that the 616 versions are similar to the ALSN 616 mix? Or perhaps they are just slightly different mixes from those on the album.

Oh, and THIS Endless Dark?

Stupid live versions, why 4?

Hollola is a town in Finlands with the Petrax studios (http://www.petrax.fi/).
Lordi, Sub-Urban Tribe, Negative and... HIM (http://www.petrax.fi/english/users.htm)
So the Beautiful and Again Hollola Tapes are demos.

Why doesn't have the Rendezvous With Anus (El Presidente Version) have the Previously Unreleased mark?
And according to the album credits (http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,1149701,00.html) of Alpha Motherfuckers: El Presidente is the "Producer, Compilation"
Maybe also an demo or unedited version.

I agree with Harker... The studio guy's last name is Rappula, remember "The Rappula Tapes?"
Definately demos but I'm not sure about the rest of the tracks... Those 616 versions are confusing! ???

Post by: Tauriainen on March 10, 2007, 09:48:03 PM
Ok, Harker and Weemo have caught on into that joke.

Considering the comment of 616 represents and the release of that material one can tell you the rest.

if the 616 version of buried alive by love isnt Rescue

then I will become depressed and beat my head into the floor.

and if its the extended version of buried alive by love I will cut my wiener off and and mail it to ville with a sucker

If the BABL616 isn't Rescue... then I am sure it may be something... just as good? Maybe same lyrics... and different riffs or something.

why does everyone complain about the live versions
some of the best renditions of songs have been live
especially the likes of pretending with the dope danny intro, how fucking awesome would that have been to hear that live
or even the solo that Linde played before GWTS
just get over yourselves and enjoy the exploitation that brings demos galore.

I never noticed the Set List to this album.

Well, I just went to Freak Beats spoke to the owner told him about the album coming out. He said he will save me that Promo plus some other upcoming releases already.

Awesome!

While we are on the subject of that song; anyone know what is the deal with this line "She's loving by proxy, no give and all take".

Just some really short clips of the songs as ringtones. Endless Dark sounds awesome, and the 616 Version of Buried Alive By Love is Rescue. The different mix of I Love You sounds harder, but not much different aside from that. Again doesn't sound different at all and Beautiful has different vocals.

Hot Topic has it set for a May 22nd release (my birthday!).

HIM Releases a Double Threat of Material in May - April 9th

HIM fans, are you searchin' for the perfect collection to kill your loneliness? Well, you're 'bout to get two. First, reminisce on the past decade with And Love Said No: Greatest Hits 1997-2004, a digitally remastered anthology celebrating HIM's biggest hits. The title track and a cover of Neil Diamond's classic "Solitary Man" will be included on the compilation set for release on May 8th. Still need a bit more to quench your HIM thirst? Then pick up Uneasy Listening Vol. 2, featuring a collection of hard-to-find versions of some of HIM's biggest hits and never before released material, including demos, remixes, live audio and studio recordings all hand-picked by singer Ville Valo. Forget the sentimental side recognized in Vol. 1. These selections highlight HIM's raucous nature. Pick it up May 22nd. The band has also confirmed a late summer tour across America in support of these two releases. So, check 'em out and get ready for the summer of HIM!

Well as Vol. 2 state's its called 'Buried Alive By Love (616 Version)' not rescue, that was an old idea for the song that they never ended up using as you know, rescue was going to be released on the alt version of love metal.

There was this one movie (not porn) with a guy in a yellow bunny suit that looked odd enough to be interesting, but I couldn't find where to download it considering I don't speak Russian and have a limited understanding of German.

That'd be cool if you could do that. I just tried Rapidshare, but it won't even load for me.

Make sure and say if it works. I will be beyond pissed if it doesn't.

rapidshare, our server here, really anything but megaupload.  For some reason it never pops up the "save as" after I opt to download.  I think it's a personal thing, as it just started happening recently.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the tracks "flow" together. Especially tracks 2 into 3. I don't like when the outros of songs merge into the intros of others. It's fine on an actual album when it's recorded that way, but for a compilation? I'm sorry to be nitpicky, but you know someone's gotta do it. Haha

Man i must say i'm totally diggin the love metal demos. They are so raw. If HIM's new album is anything like those i will be SO happy. I don't want the heavy tones to be lost in the final mix like with dark light.

Keep in mind Vol. 1 was the "lighter" side.

I have to say Endless Dark on here reminds me of Devils.
Title: Re: Uneasy Listening Vol. 1 & 2
Post by: Daedalus on April 20, 2007, 08:46:53 AM
Yes but lighter doesn't mean crappy. Vol. 1's main problem was that most of it was previously released. The 5 "new" tracks weren't that much different from the originals either. The Path was the only really different version. That One Last Time mix is the worst "remix" of all time. All they did was run the song through an mp3 converter at a low setting!
Title: Re: Uneasy Listening Vol. 1 & 2

yeah when i said that i meant that vol. 1 just seemed low quality to me, kinda like a bootleg, but this one seems legit

Endless Dark (616) is definitely the stand out track here. I Love You (Joffa Bond - We Miss You) is excellent too. The intro to Endless Dark reminds me of the intro to "Frankenhooker" on the new 69 Eyes album.

I just got the Physical Promo Edition.
It comes with extras, I like it. Finally a change for once, though it is in German I have it.

I agree too. Endless Dark and I Love You are the two only tracks I only care about and do stand out there. I could care less for "Babble" (according to Laura).

I'm a little disappointed at the fact that they included 4 live tracks.  That's 4 slots they could've used for other versions which I KNOW they have in their vaults.
Title: Re: Uneasy Listening Vol. 1 & 2

I agree. At this point I'm sick of hearing freakin' Wicked Game! I liked the inclusions of Hand of Doom and Sail On, although I'd have much prefered studio tracks. Patience though, if Vol. 2 sells well enough we could always see a Vol. 3 down the road... who knows, maybe Sire will release some Dark Light demos. That reminds me...wasn't some well known dj or producer supposed to have been doing a remix of a track from Dark Light for an upcoming single? What ever happened to that?

I finally got my copy of Uneasy 2 that I ordered from HMV UK today. It's interesting because it's the German version of the disc! It has the GUN label and the German track names, which differ from the UK version...right? Or maybe I'm wrong and they all have the other track names...i.e. Rendezvous With Anus (Dein Arsch Ist Meiner, El Presidente).

I received mine yesterday and it too is that version.
It has:

Rendezvous with anus (Dein arsch ist meiner, presidente)
Sigilum Diaboli (Studio live evil)
I love you (white house version)
The beginning of the end (sad damn version)

I have the Same Vol. 1 as you Jenx

I picked up the U.S. copy today at Best Buy. They only had two. I don't think anyone really cares about this one...
One thing I noticed was what the sticker on the case said:
They actually aknowledge that BABL 616 is from CKY 4, AND used it as a way to sell CDs! I'm utterly shocked that Universal had the forsight to do that.
And, for those whom are curious, pictures of the damn thing. The Euro version is on top, the U.S. version on the bottom. The print quality seems to be much lower on the U.S. version. And of course the BEAUTIFUL FBI warning slapped all over the disc and back cover. The track listing is the same, however on Rendezvous they omit all of the German words. It's simply "El Presidente Version". I Love You adds "(Prelude To Tragedy)" to it's title.

They just "mess" them up so one can distinguish the difference in certain things.
I think the previous releases were also retouched, I don't remember which one in particular.

Am I the only one who thinks the remixes of Again and Beautiful are just trash? The music sounds cool and all, but the vocals just blow... (I'll expect a barrage of comments about how I must be stupid, since no one dare say anything negative about Ville)

But Volume 2 overall really kicks ass... Silly me, for the longest time misunderstood the points of UNEASY LISTENING... I thought they were going to make slow songs faster and vice versa.... Like Join Me, Heartache Every Moment, Gone With the Sin, etc... heavier / faster...

I can still dream, right? But this will do for now!  ;D

I love that "Uneasy Listening Vol. 1 & 2" are out. Becuase I love that if I want to listen to some live H.I.M. or some H.I.M. demos then I can just pop the cd in my car. It just really sucks if you have a song stuck in your head and you have to wait to come home and get on your p.c. and then look up the songs. If it wasnt for "Uneasy Listening" then it would be harder to find those songs that you have herd over and over and are now sick of.

thanx.

Endless dark 616 and I love you (Joffa Bond ) are my faves. I prefer the vol 2, the vol 1 stuff was almost all already known
