HIM Announce 'No Sleep Till Halloween' Tour With Papa Roach, Lostprophets, and More...
Band Also Reveals Plans for Upcoming DVD/CD

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 03, 2006 -- Finnish quintet HIM announce their fall 2006 tour in support of their highly acclaimed Sire Records release, "Dark Light." The first leg of the No Sleep Till Halloween tour kicks off October 18 in Lowell, Massachusetts, with Papa Roach, Lostprophets, Kill Hannah, and ends on Halloween in Los Angeles, California (see dates below).

On this upcoming tour, the band will reach half a million copies of 2005's "Dark Light," making HIM the first Finnish band to go gold in the U.S. The album debuted in the Top 20 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart and has so far spawned two major hits, "Wings of a Butterfly" and "Killing Loneliness." The album's success has earned the band spots on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Last Call With Carson Daly." The single, "Wings of a Butterfly," went Top 20 on Active Rock and Alternative radio, and the video was in heavy rotation on FUSE and became an Elite 8 on MTV2.

Hot on the heels of the tour will be a special DVD/CD release due out in November. The DVD/CD will follow the band through haunted castles in Scotland and feature never before seen live concert footage and rare on-camera interviews.

Pre-sale tickets for the New York shows go on sale tomorrow morning, Friday, August 4th; the rest of the shows go on sale next weekend. All tickets will be available on KROQ (www.kroq.com) and Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com).

I'm not paying 40 bucks to go see 3 bands I hate. I don't think HIM will be playing for more than 45 mins TOPS either way. The Hammerstein always ends its shows around 11.

They might be playing a full set. When I saw Taking Back Sunday at SJSU event center in San Jose there were 4 bands.

Subways - 6 songs
Head Automatica - 7 songs
Angels & Airwaves - about 12 songs
Taking Back Sunday - about 17 songs

Now let me ask you a (probably stupid) question, is HIM headlining? Or is it Papa Roach since they are more famous?

I'll be at the San Jose show. Gonna try to record it from the upper level seats on the side of the stage. Security wont bother me up there.

Post by: shaneofthesac on August 05, 2006, 09:59:24 AM
That's right. HIM is headlining.

Ville has said before that besides festivals, they won't do any supporting gigs. He said he'd rather play in front of 50 HIM fans then play for a lot more people who are there to see somebody else.

I assume the lineup will be just as it's listed. Kill Hannah, then Lostprophets, then Papa Roach, then HIM.

See everyone in Chicago. My first trip to the windy city.

I think I might be going to the Des Moines gig as well. It's only 4 or 5 hours from Chicago. Since I'll be in Chicago (6/7 Hrs away) I might as well drive another 4 and catch the next show, the next night. Why not!

I ordered tickets for both nights at the Hammerstein.  Damn, though, I swear tickets were $20 last time - now they're $40, in the same venue!.  :o Does that mean they'll play longer  :P

It'll be brilliant to see Kill Hannah and HIM on the same stage again!

Unless they do any Ohio dates, I'm skipping this tour as well. Not only do the opening bands not interest me, I know that the band will play the same fucking songs again.

However the CD/DVD package will be a nice buy.

Hi fellow HIM fans! I am new to this forum & a relatively new fan of the band's! HIM are fantastic! Anyway, I live near Toronto in Canada & am thinking about attending the TO gig. Has anyone been to the Ricoh Coliseum? Also I am not too familiar with the other bands that are playing. This will be the first time I've seen HIM as I missed the show in Toronto last time as it was sold out. Do you still think it's worth going? I would basically be going only to see HIM play. Thanks for your replies in advance.

I guess it depends how many songs play. If they play a full setlist, then it would be worth going. But if they can only play half a set because of all the other bands then you might wanna wait

This is odd.
My oldest brother is going to the HIM show.
(He isnt even a Fan, I guess his friend likes the band thats why he is going with her?).
His best friends fiancee works there so he got apparently VIP and Pit tickets.
That was cool of her to do that for them.

they might like  them and thats fine. i don't think they care who plays before them. i was just stating my opinion thats all. they should le the fans pick who plays with them on the next tour after all we are the ones buying the tickets lol.

maybe they do maybe they don't, i remember seeing HIM at the Avalon in hollywood, and they had like alittle side balcony on the stage for the band, and they came out during Captured by Robots, who were supporting them in Febuary 2005, the dates that they had to rescedule due to Ville Being sick

I just emailed The Rave asking if HIM was still playing, and the answer is that the record company canceled the last 10 dates of the tour, because they want HIM to focus and write a new album..... its a bittersweet thing, i wanted to see them, but im glad they will be getting into the studio

personally i think its a couple months too early to focus on new material, and the record company is pushing them, which is not a good thing at all

they gave you an answer, which is more than most would do; but, you know i'm going to say, it's preposterous that the label is saying that is the reason those dates are cancelled.

You mean a record company could have the audacity to tell thioer artists what to do? I can't see them doing that unless the rpomised them an album in a certain timeframe.  Weird! I'm seeing them twice in New York and once in Chicago. I'm not crazy about seeing any of the opening bands. I tried and Kill Hannah does nothing for me except give me new makeup ideas to shop at Sephora. Why not tour with the Rasmus and the 69 Eyes or other Finnish bands and give us something different? Oh well maybe in 10 years they'll all  get together and do some anniversary tour if they are all still alive. Actually I've talked to a lot of people who siad they'd love to see HIM but don't want to see the others. Isn't it time HIM just had one opening band?
Title: Re: No Sleep Till Halloween Tour 2006

HIM normally have only 1 opening band.

Putting these 3 bands together is really strange. Most people only like one out of three, surely it would be more logical for each band to tour individually.

Thought I might help to clarify thinigs a bit for some of you.  Most of you are forgetting that it is the music 'BUSINESS' and yes if they have signed a major deal the company have loaned them a large sum of money which they want back with interest.  Yes they will have agreed to release a set amount of albums/singles in a given time frame and the reason that they are touring with these others bands is precisely because their fans will not be HIM fans so it is a marketing angle to try and increase their fan base.  Sire records are not doing this for love and perhaps neither are the band.  I was unimpressed with the reshooting of what I thought was a perfectly good video for 'killing loneliness' and am amazed that the band agreed seeing as they have to pay for it.  It is looking to me like their artistic i ntegrity is flying out of the window as money comes in the door. :(

HIM is a hard band to find opening acts for, anyway.  There aren't a lot of bands that sound like HIM or appeal to the same fans. Rock bands with darker elements are what they find, and that includes Lost Prophets and Papa Roach. Papa Roach is a big name, too... even if their prime was 6 years ago.

These bands are a lot closer to HIM than Skindred and Finch were.

Ville's voice  has been "suffering" over the last few months/ gigs, so I'm thinking maybe they had to cancel for a much needed break... Might be starting to ctach up with him, all of the non-stop touring.. as well as non-stop smoking/drinking...

Dunno, just my opinion though.. From a recent interview (video)  I do know that he has been working on new material and mentioned a release for October '07. So, maybe it's partly true...

Hope they are all ok nontheless!

Cheers!

that sucks for the people that were going to go but its cool that they are going to start working on the new stuff :) and yes another band that dropped their fall tour to work on their new album is avenged sevenfold so i personally dont believe that there are deep problems within the band, or they  are just taking a break they have been touring since last year so that would make sense too.

This to me was the worst albums they could put out.
Maybe because I am too used to heavy sounds.
But I dont see them going back to their "roots".
They want money, what else is there to say.

I just got a phone call myself hearing these News about the Shows. I am surprised that they hacked all of the tour and not part of it.

Strange they cancel a tour, they knew there was a tour planned. Why not postpone the CD? Strange that they already cancel an october tour for a new album in october next year.
I know touring is hard, but it is not even a two week tour and after that the US november tour starts.

I don't know a thing about it, but is it possible that the recordcompany is saying that the demo must be finished before the end of october?
At least the explanation is strange

To start a stupid rumour, maybe a Halloween wedding :P

is the dates in november gonna be cancelled
Title: Re: No Sleep Till Halloween Tour 2006
Post by: Jay on September 27, 2006, 05:56:52 PM
Expect all of the tour to be scrapped.  I have an e-mail saying that all the November dates have been scrapped as well, but I'm not home right now.

The true reason they cancelled: They realized there were no Texas dates, and they needed to find time to fit them in.  :)

Anyway, not to start any conspiracy theories or anything...but haven't you noticed that when HIM is poised to break through in the US, something like this always happens.

Take the 2004 tour, when Ville was piss drunk in NY and performed the shittiest gig ever.  http://media.thesacrament.net/pic.shtml?image=nyrev.jpg (For you visual learners)  That gig was said to be one of the most important for them at the time.

Something happened like that again in 2005, but that wasn't his fault, as he was drugged...or so the story goes.

There's a few other incidents that I can't rember off hand, but now that they were set with their biggest US tour yet, something happens.  The reasons are unknown right now, but maybe it could be that Papa Roach (who have a new CD out or soon to be out) disagreed with being an opener to a realitvely unknown band.

Though Ville has always said he refuses to be an opener for anyone, unless they're doing festivals.  He'd rather play for 30 people there to see them, than 3000 who are there for the next band.

In the end, I think it's more of a business issue, than a health issue.  Unless Shane's girlfriend is FINALLY pregnant with Ville's unborn child.  Hmm....

Maybe they have a US-phobia?
Or maybe they get pretty fucking tired of doing the same shit at a different place?

And I know they may end up recording a new album... but maybe they should do some serious thinking and disscussing of it before they hit the record button.

Or else, this album may turn pure shit. As we all know, Dark Light was good lyrically. But I just feel the record company/producer is not too good.
After all... U2... come on now...
They need to be back on GUN/Supersonic. I think so personally.

This is bullshit!

I bought $400 plane tickets to go to the Halloween show. Got the tickets for the concert and now this.

Everyone needs to stop being stubborn asses and sticking up for HIM saying they need a break. They are my favorite band, but to lie and say they are recording material for a CD that's due out FALL OF 2007! That's bullshit, my only guess could be they want an early realease to come out. I thought in an interveiw, I don't really remember but I think ville said the record label wanted they to work on new material, for an album out later this year, and play older songs live.

Could they possibly be releasing a album or compliation towards then end of the year or start of Q1? I don't really know, I just can't believe this. I want to know the real reason why...

It could also be that maybe HIM split or something? I don't know it's just a guess. But I know for a god damn fact they didn't do this to take a break, they've had a break for awhile only doing shows here and there. I just want an explination...

EDIT:

Hey check this out...maybe some hope for the Halloween show?

http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/872970

It shows all other dates scheduled for the tour besides the Denver and Halloween show cancelled? Could it be possible they still do the Halloween show because it was the most anticipated, and probably biggest purchased show?

rehab, or pregnancy? for starters, doesn't anybody find it "suspect" the way jonna pals around with, and says she lived with, andy mccoy and angela? mccoy and angela are synonymous with heroin in scandinavia. not to mention, the neighbor seemed to bark up the same tree. birds of a feather do flock together, sometimes. secondly, if there's a pregnancy, "orchestrated or not," do you think she'd be safe to leave behind, considering one of the complaints that drove her to "rehab" last time, was ville on a tour. sure.

After the last tour I presume.  When Bam did his radio show from Helsinki with CKY around 7th August Ville came on and Bam asked him if he would be going out with them that evening he replied and I paraphrase ' I don't know what I am doing yet as it is my 3rd anniversry with my girl and we will be going out somewhere'

Later on in the show she came on the mike to say 'Hi'  ::)

Expect the Halloween date to be scrapped as well, they wouldn't come to the US for just one or two shows.

We have to remember that there are other bands involved as well...maybe (again, just speculation) one of the other bands wasn't happy about the amount of tickets sold, or the cut they were going to get each night.

Being that HIM isn't one to charge their fans $60-100 for a ticket, the bands probably weren't making much at the gate, or at least not as much as they had hoped.  Shit, for about $100, you can get about 3 HIM tickets.

Though, most bands make more from merch anyway.  We all know how hot HIM gear is.  More than likely though, it's a label decision.  It's what it all comes down to anyway...the people that sign your checks, like it or not.

My friend sent Tom Furey (HIM's Tour Manager) an email seeing what truly is up. Hopefully Tom will check his email and let us know if it was just the poor ticket sales, if HIM really decided they wanted to go back into the studio, or HIM decided not to tour with three freaking openers (haha). I'll keep you guys up to date on if we find anything out unless someone else beats us to an official word from someone close to the band.

I am bummed out about this whole ordeal, but I mean if the studio story is the truth, its a good sign for the next album. I mean with DSBH they kind of went into the studio with ideas, but didn't go in all gunho, and that’s probably why the album was recorded several times and only produced at like what the third attempt, if memory serves. And then with Dark Light, I knew they had new songs written and stuff since like fall 2004, but they really didn't hit the studio that hard until 4 or 5 months before the album came out

I thought about e-mailing Tom, but it may be one of those hush-hush things that won't be our business.  But yes, we all want an official word, but I think we already got it in the form of the heartagram announcement.

Though they may follow up with some "Rest assured no one is in rehab, pregnant, maimed, etc." posts.

Wikipedia.org, whose reputation has been kicked around a bit lately, has another goofy bit of "information" at the end of Ville Valo's entry. It reads:

According to sources at a recent Cleveland concert, Valo has snapped his left arm, thus contributing to the cancellation of every concert after that. The No Sleep 'Til Halloween tour included Kill Hannah, Papa Roach and Lostprophets.

This is probably bogus. Who are these "sources" at a Cleveland concert. What Cleveland concert? Random bozos in line at a Goo Goo Dolls concert?
