I was sitting outside the other day smoking a cigarette, looking at my dad. He's been blind since i was 4 (i'm now 19) and occasionally he gets very depressed. Not so much feeling down for himself but the fact that he never sees the sun wreaks havoc on his brain.
He was having one of the bad days and i knew it, I went inside and went to the cd player. I decided i was going to listen to some HIM. I put on Deep Shadows and switched to Love you like i do. He walked in just as the chorus hits and i could tell he was kinda intrigued. I told my dad to sit down and i'd play him some songs, and for once he agreed.
Many hours later and we'd gotten through Deep Shadows, Love Metal, and a disc of singles I had made. He enjoyed it very much.
He then said to me "Hey Sam, HIM soothes the soul" I thought about it for a second and whole heartedly agreed.
Anyway i'm just saying how amazing it is that HIM is so much more then "some band" to so many people. It was such a good feeling to see my dad smile.
I hope that i didn't bore anyone, or that this is conceived as a useless thread. I plan on being on here more, like the old days when I would check these daily.
I'm going to go soothe my soul now.
