Title: Lowlands Festival
Post by: lastxcallforsin on July 17, 2006, 02:43:05 PM
On the front page of the site there is a sound logo that leads to an audio stream of the festival. Anyone know when HIM plays? I wanna try to record it.

HIM will play there in August.
Heartagram.com says July, but it is in August.

For the time-zone, The Netherlands are +1

Tomorrow I will get my ticket for Lowlands :)

What am I listening to now then? Do they have bands playing all month?

You opened the soundlogo next to the "Log In" button?
That is the 3voor12 audiostream.
3voor12 is a website (http://3voor12.vpro.nl/3voor12/archief/index.jsp?showme=dj-sets) with alot of (live) music and they have broadcasts from Dutch music festivals like Pinkpop and Lowlands.
So I guess one of the streams from 3voor12 is the stream on the Lowlands website. Maybe old Lowlands recordings, but I'm not sure.

Lowlands is three days, 18-20 August

Next week is Lowlands.

I can't find good information about streams, but:
-This is the Lowlands part (http://3voor12.vpro.nl/3voor12/festivals/index/index.jsp?portal=2534202&event=29080997) of the 3voor12website, here you can find (live)streams during the festival, and (I hope also HIM) streams after the festival.
-According to Lowlands.nl (http://www.lowlands.nl/nieuws.asp?page=102), you can hear the concerts on 106.2 FM, I guess you can only hear it in the Netherlands, maybe you can hear it on an internet radio, but I don't know how that works.

If there is more known about streams, I will post it, but I guess 3voor12 is the best.

I hope people will record it, because I will be at the festival

For people in Germany and UK, if you still want to go, there are still tickets available ;), it is in the middle of The Netherlands
Bands: HIM, Iggy Pop & the Stooges, CKY, Muse, Placebo, Artic Monkeys, Panic! at the Disco, Pennywise, Wolfmother, Corvus Corax, Ministry and a lot more (http://festivalinfo.nl/festival_detail.php?festival_id=3835)

The Netherlands are UTC +1
But according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_European_Time), in the summer
Quote
Its time offset is UTC+1 during standard time and UTC+2 during daylight saving time.

I think this (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc) is a good converter. (or try Google, 'timezone converter')

For HIM, the Dutch date/time:
18 August 2006, 18:15 (or 06:15 PM)
From Time zone: Europe/Amsterdam

HIM plays from 18:15 till 19:15 (06:15 PM till 07:15 PM) (Dutch time zone)

Here is the time-schedule (http://www.lowlands.nl/programma_blokkenschema.asp).
Above you can choose the day.

On the site that the radio stream belongs to Lowlands 2006 is mentioned by the worlds "On Stage" which is the name of their webtv channel that broadcast concerts. I can't read it, but maybe the festival is getting a video broadcast as well.

For Lastxcallforsin and Cory, a URL isn't known yet, I will check every day if there is more information.
The 'On Stage'-TV is broadcasting old gigs. I'm not sure if they send out livestream during Lowlands.

I ask people and no one seems to know. I've send an email to 3voor12

And...
I guess/hope/think Pukkelpop in Belgium, Saturday, after Lowlands, will have a stream too.
Stubru (http://www.stubru.be/stubru_master/programmas/all_areas/home/index.html)

When I have more information I will post it.

From 3voor12 about Lowlands streams:

According to the email I got from 3voor12:
-3voor12 will broadcast the 3 days live (3 days live streams)
-in audio and video
-After the 3 days you can listen to most of the concerts of Lowlands, on demand
-Also the videos from as much as possible concerts on 3voor12TV

-Only... they won't film HIM, they can only film on 2 stages at the same time, and somehow not HIM.
(strange because HIM is on the main stage)
-They will record the audio of HIM.
But it is not sure if they will broadcast it, because she (who answered my email) was not sure if they have permission for the broadcasting.
(But I think they (will) have permission.)

So no HIM video, only audio.

EDIT: Wow, I'm getting tired, can't find the right words, but I hope you get the points.
No news from Pukkelpop yet

Oke, this evening I'm going to Lowlands.

For Lowlands
Friday 18 August 2006, Dutch time, 18:15 (or 06:15 PM)
The Netherlands are UTC +1
But according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_European_Time), in the summer 'its time offset is UTC+1 during standard time and UTC+2 during daylight saving time.'

I think this (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc) is a good converter. (or try Google, 'timezone converter')

Time zone: Europe/Amsterdam

HIM plays from 18:15 till 19:15 (06:15 PM till 07:15 PM) (Dutch time zone)

Here is the Lowlands time-schedule (http://www.lowlands.nl/programma_blokkenschema.asp).
Above you can choose the day.

Recording can be from the website 3voor12.nl (http://3voor12.vpro.nl/3voor12/festivals/index/index.jsp?portal=2534202&event=29080997)
There is no URL known yet, but I guess you can find it during the festival.

If you need it: translation program (http://ets.freetranslation.com/) from Dutch - English and English - Dutch

Time is the broadcasting schedule for Lowlands:
(Dutch time)
3VOOR12: 14.00 uur - 0.00 uur
internetradio, with the concerts, see below

Nederland 3: 23.50 uur - 01.20 uur
Dutch TV, on their schedule they are not talking about HIM
Not online to ee, maybe after the festival

3FM: 19.00 uur - 1.00 uur
Dutch Radio, I guess this will be radiomakers walking around and tell what is happening.
Listen (http://www.nederland.fm/)
Go the website and click this logo: (http://www.nederland.fm/i/l/3fm.gif)

Some bands that will (not) be broadcasted from 3voor12;
From this site (http://3voor12.vpro.nl/3voor12/festivals/news/full.jsp?portal=2534202&event=29080997&news=29611230&type=-1)
Recordings:
Fun Lovin' Criminals, Forward Russia, Gogol Bordello, Kiddo-C & Jawat, Belle & Sebastian, Ministry, Danko Jones, Opgezwolle, Pete Philly & Perquisite, The Streets, Seven, The Twilight Singers, Tiga, Urban Dance Squad, Anouk, The Veils, Zero 7. Snow Patrol, Wolfmother, a balladeer, Hot Chip and Postman: yes

Arctic Monkeys, yes but not downloadable
Muse: no
Bloc Party: no, too much new songs
DJ Shadow: no
The Raconteurs: not yet, the normally, the recorder of the show is the owner, but The Raconteur want all the rights, so they are still talking about it.

Another bands? Not known yet.
HIM? In audio (still hoping for video, see other posts)

Most of the recordings you can also find after the festival.
And sometimes there are also TV sows online from Nederland 3, so if that is also with the Lowlands special, I will give a link.

For Pukkelpop
Saturday 19 August 2006, Dutch (also Belgium) time
17:55 till 18:45 (or 05:55 PM)

Pukkelpop has a live video streaming!

Go to www.pukkelpop.be
enter the website, and above you see LIVE STREAMING.
HIM is on the Main Stage (see Line-up)

So 2 festival with HIM in 2 days.
One with audio, the other with video.

Good luck with the recording.
I'm leaving in a few hours, so if you have questions, be quick

HIM is playing now but I cant get the damn video stream to work!  :-[

EDIT: Seems only Belgacom ADSL users can view the high quality stream or the on demand videos.... I tried switching to the low quality stream, but it still wouldn't play. Turns out you have to click the low quality stream from the first page or else it will still require Belgacom ADSL. Too late now though...

I'm currently in the process of writing a proxy program which will make the site believe that im a belgacom user, even though I'm in a different country.

Any idea how long the on demand will stay up for? It could take another day to write the program.

No idea... Today is the last day of the concert. I'm sure they will keep the on demand videos for atleast a few more days though. Best of luck to you on the proxy program.

EDIT: You can see some pictures from the performance here

I can't download part 1, it says that I have reached my free account or something like that. got anpther link for the first part? I was at the Lowlands festival in first row, they where great.

This is my little review:

The people waiting in line to see HIM where less then normal. Perfect for me to get first row (right in the middle).

The opening-act was Wolfmother, they rocked the place. Perfect rock, everything in balance. After them Orson got to play. They where ok and the singer reminded me of Ville (same cocky attitude, same screams ). The Fun Lovin Criminals next, they sucked in my opinion.

And then HIM came on. They had the chandaliers going`on and a new curtain. As usual the soundcheck was taking too much time. Then they came op and the first thing I noticed was the smile on the face of Ville. He was drunk in a really good way. He smiled a lot during the gig and talked sooooo funny. During Right here in my arms he was telling that he likes how we clapped on the sound of the beat. During another song he was talking about anal sex and at the end he was telling us that time is a fucker, because the wanted to stay on longer. Migé was jumping his ass off, looking like a big monkey. He was brilliant. Giving Gas and Burton the middlefinger and jumping into Linde the whole time . They playd Behing the crimson door, the first time I heard them play that song live (it was my 10th HIM-gig). In It's all tears Ville was singing a chorus a capella, it was beautiful. At the end I got a setlist (my 5th HIM-setlist). This was it:

Soul on fire
Butterfly
Right here
Rose
Join me
Crimson
BABL
Wicked
Killing
666
Vampire
Tears
Sacrament

It was one of the best gigs I have seen them play

I'm back from the festival and a small vacation.

HIM was great, but it wasn't the show I enjoyed the most. Maybe because it was a festival. HIM played very well and every bandmembers was in a good mood.
Pictures and a small review will come. I've found some other reviews, but I will post it later.

Strange that there wasn't a stream from Lowlands. But thanks for the trying.

I tried to record the gig, with a MP3player, but you can't hear a thing, only when Ville is talking and the keyboardintros like The Sacrament.
If there is someone who can clean it up (I don't so, but I hope), I will send it. The file is in .wav
But because I though that there would be an A+ recording I didn't care about the recording. I was in the front row.
But if someone wants to give it a try, PM me. Maybe better then nothing.

It was fun to read this topic again and how some people were trying to recording the show. Since i was at the festival, i couldn't say it was fun, it was dramatic. Bad sound, bad performance...But at the end, HIM was on Lowlands! :D
The performance on Lowlands 2 years later, was actually pretty awesome btw.
