Artmania Festival & DVD

The concert that will be at Piata Mare in Sibiu on July 15 is awaited! HIM will film the whole show for a DVD wich will contain both live scenes and scenes from the medieval city in the heart of Transilvania. For this, the Warner Music prepared a 40 member equip! In an exclusive interview for the rumanian fans, Ville Vallo said that HIM are going to offer to the public a unique show, with a special stage designing, projections and fireworks to enphatize the beauty of the place wich is very suitable for the band´s image!

from h-i-m666.com sounds pretty sweet eh?

Ah, splendid news. I think it's interesting that they're shooting a festival gig since they usually seem to be more fond of the club gigs with a more intimate atmosphere. I'm excited to see what they'll come up with.

Hope it all works out well and as planned!

Finally, some really good news  :)

I hope that they also have a special setlist (with rarely played songs), beside the stage design and stuff...

That's great. It's high time for them to release a new DVD. What a better context to put on it then their current tour :D

I hope this doesn't turn into another "Live Metal."

All I can say is that they better do a unique set. If I hear the same god damn songs live again, I just might snap.
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: lastxcallforsin on July 03, 2006, 07:17:57 PM
I highly doubt there gonna do anything different setwise. More then likely it's going to be the same set they played during the US tour and all their other recent festivals. I'm just wondering if their gonna put the whole show on dvd or just a select handful like alot of other bands do with their live dvds.

It'll be a mix of old and new songs - what else is possible Stevie?! :P

yeah some of the death is in love with us and prelude to tragety stuff. please dont let it go and beautiful would be tight too.

Besides The liive concert from Sibiu they`ll put on dvd images os the medieval city sibiu ...and Ville said in that interviu thata it`s going to be a unique show ..i`m so anxious they`ll come here ..i`m counting the days :)12 days :)

How about a different mix of old and new songs?

I for one know I'm not the only person that is sick to death of hearing the same few songs at every show. They have 5+ albums of stuff to choose from, there is no need to play Join Me and Poison Girl anymore.

I mean honestly, are you telling me that no one in the band remembers how to play For You, or Salt In Our Wounds?

.....[/endRant]
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: province on July 04, 2006, 05:08:40 PM
In several interviews Ville has said that they play the songs they think people wanna hear... They observe the audience and based on their reactions they decide what songs to include in their setlist. Seems like a good idea but I think it often gives them the wrong idea of what to play. Like, people seem to go bananas every time they hear the beginning keyboard part of Join Me and start cheering like crazy. Why - I have no idea, the reasons for that are beyond me. Maybe it's an unconscious reaction or maybe they just like hearing it at every gig, go figure. Personally I wouldn't mind if they quit playing it for good.

And I also remember the last time I saw them at a concert. It made me oh so happy to hear them play Poison Heart but it seemed like most of the crowd could have cared less for that particular song. The songs that made them cheer the loudest were indeed the most predictable ones.

So I think part of the reason why they play the same songs over and over is because the majority of the audience keeps giving them the wrong impression.

edit: And yes, I call it "the wrong impression" just cause I don't like it. :)
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: lastxcallforsin on July 04, 2006, 06:04:54 PM
Well they play what the majority of the audience wants to hear. Which are the biggest hits along with some Dark Light. Since Dark Light the bands setlist has composed of

01. Soul On Fire
02. Under The Rose
03. Right Here In My Arms
04. Wicked Game
05. Behind The Crimson Door
06. Join Me
07. It's All Tears
08. Rip Out The Wings of a Butterfly
09. Razorblade Kiss
10. Play Dead
11. Your Sweet 666
12. Killing Loneliness
13. Poison Girl
14. The Sacrament
15. Vampire Heart
16. Buried Alive By Love
17. Solitary Man
18. Poison Heart
19. In Joy And Sorrow
20. Funeral Of Hearts
21. Black Sabbath
22. Frozen

I can pretty much guarantee you the setlist of the show will be 12-17 songs from that list. The official DVD will more then likely be a selected handful of those songs and not the complete show. It will probably also contain the Wings of a Butterfly and Killing Loneliness videos. Maybe their third single if the video is out in time.
Title: Re: Live DVD?

Maybe it's going to be a Love Metal Archives Vol II
With a Dark Light era with clips and the making of, concerts (RaR for example with the stuff Bam filmed, Sibiu with the city footage) and more (I hope never seen before) stuff

I guess they will play the 'normal' songs, maybe a song they don't play that much.
If you are not so much a HIM fan, and you want to buy a DVD from the band, do you buy a DVD with songs you don't know or with the songs you know like JM, WG and RHIMA?
I hope they will have some different songs, but if you haven't heard/seen DL songs live, a DVD is a nice chance. So I guess they will go for an normal setlist.

And I hope the footage will be about the city and HIM, not Bam jumping around, but that is another discussion
Title: Re: Live DVD?

Maybe it's going to be a Love Metal Archives Vol II

Yeah, maybe, but I think that if they plan to release a DVD with that name, they should wait to have as much music videos to put on it as Vol.1 has. Anyway, you have a good point, there should be Vol.2, if not, then why they made Vol.1?
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: S. Carnage Esq. on July 04, 2006, 11:47:33 PM
Are they playing all of "Black Sabbath?" Or is it just the jam?
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: lastxcallforsin on July 05, 2006, 04:04:09 AM
Dark Light??? I was hoping for Under The Rose, Behind The Crimson Door, or Vampire Heart to be the next single. Even Play Dead would have been a better choice... Dark Light is by far my least favorite song on the cd. Oh well... It will be cool to see it performed live though. Where did you get all this information?
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: lastxcallforsin on July 05, 2006, 04:16:11 AM
I'm dissapointed in their choice for the next single, but still looking forward to the video. Thanks for the info!
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: Danny on July 05, 2006, 05:18:20 AM
Realeasing Dark Light as a singel is a disaster that song is so far away from singel material as possible. They should rather realse behind the crimson door as a singel. That song is more "radio friendly" and it`s actually a good song.

And Ville says that he looks at the crowds reaction and that`s how they chose their setlist, but are they gonna play the same set until the next album comes out? Just two years ago at least it was some surprises. when i was at hultsfred(2004) they played "Death is in love with us" and "Bury me deep inside your heart" and at rusirock(2005) they played pretending. Pretty rare song these days.
seems like they are afraid to try out new things :-\
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: robertzombie on July 05, 2006, 06:33:54 AM
I hope the DVD will include the entire show. They could have problems with Black Sabbath and Madonna over rights to their songs, they would have to pay royalties to them, or they could choose a different song to end on, Dark Light would be a nice ender.

I also hope the director doesn't go crazy with special effects. That really ruined DVDs such as "Soulmates Never Die."

Special features will most probably be the WOAB, KL (both?) and DL videos. And maybe a "making of the dvd."

Interesting, Dark Light as a single release...maybe some kind of a successor to GWTS, though it won't be that successful.

Well at least one new live version of a song, by now

Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: S. Carnage Esq. on July 06, 2006, 05:42:46 PM
I have a strong feeling that "Dark Light" will be the next single. There are signs pointing it out everywhere:

1. The stickers on Dark Light that mention the song
2. The report that a new song off the album will be preformed live
3. All the little "sources" saying Dark Light will be the next single

And the most important piece of evidence there is: the title of the album is called Dark Light. Considering HIM had never named an album after one of the song titles prior to Dark Light, this tells me that the song must hold some special meaning with the band (or at least Valo).

Another way to look at it would be this: Lets release Dark Light as a single, on the hopes it will be a hit. People generally know the name of a song they like, but rarely do they know the album title, and sometimes even the band name. So if the title "Dark Light" gets popular, then the album sales may spike as well.

Then again Ville may just like the idea of his last name being in the title of thier next single.

So that's what he meant with the "unique" show  :-[, though he did that a several times before...that's Ville  ;)

Well, but all jokes aside: It seemed like (according to the first infos) that their label did a lot of work to make the production, so I doubt they cancel it.

Otherwise is the band representing the label on the (inter)national market...well, let's wait if it was really that bad.

Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: lastxcallforsin on July 16, 2006, 05:05:35 PM
Setlist (thanks to poison_grl666 from heartagram forum)

Soul On Fire
Right Here In My Arms
Rip Out The Wings of a Butterfly
Behind The Crimson Door
Your Sweet 666
Vampire Heart
Under The Rose
Killing Loneliness
Play Dead
It's All Tears
Wicked Game
Razorblade Kiss
Poison Girl
Join Me
Buried Alive By Love
Funeral of Hearts
The Sacrament
Black Sabath

No Dark Light... probably just a rumor someone started to get some attention or a bad source. I highly doubt Dark Light is gonna be the next video either. How often does a band release a single they don't play live? It will either be Under The Rose, Vampire Heart, or Behind The Crimson Door. Play Dead is a possibility, but unlikely.
Title: Re: Live DVD?

I bet Under the Rose will be the next single
Title: Re: Live DVD?
Post by: lastxcallforsin on July 16, 2006, 05:25:29 PM
Under The Rose and Behind The Crimson Door are the only tracks you can hear on the official site besides the current singles... Behind The Crimson Door is the only non-single on their myspace... These things tend to be irrelevant though. We'll just have to wait and see.

I requested the show to be ripped by videopimp. I've posted some of their videos here before (Berlin 2000, Rock Am Ring 2005). These guys provide excellent quality rips. Hopefully they can pull it off. It would be great if some people could create an account on their forum and request the performance in my thread. To show them there is a demand for it.

Once he get's home he is personally sending me the files (not on a torrent), and I'll upload for you guys.

I'm at 21.5% right now.

its enought to let your torrent program open, and do not move, change name of the folder or file where you have de video
that share rating is like a %, if is > 1 you can download the full file soon or later, if not you only can get at much part of the file
as much higher is that value more easy its to get the file
for example
this morning share was 0.750 so most of the leechers have that % already completed so if you have less you can quickly download the part you still dont have but when you reach to 75% download speed goes to 0 because there is nothing more to download until the seed will connect again

According to the HIM Finland interview:
HF.net: You just played a show in Romania, and from what we hear there were people from Warner shooting a live DVD. Is this correct?
Ville: No. We were originally supposed to shoot the DVD there, but we didn't because the location costs and the technical standards weren't up to the standard that we wanted. And there wasn't enough time, either. Sibiu is a fantastic medieval town, but to shoot the DVD there would have required written permission from every house. It was really complicated. Warner is hoping to produce the DVD in a couple of months. I don't know the exact location and time, but sometime around August we're going to film a show and add some other material to that

HF.net: So the DVD will be in stores by Christmas?
Ville: They're trying. No promises.

So no DVD from Sibiu, as expected/known

Around August, that must be Lowlands (Netherlands) or Pukkelpop (Belgium), both Festivals.
Or the US tour, in September.

Shooting at Festivals isn't easy, because it requires many permissions, so it doesn't pay for the artists. Since Dutch music industry is very well developed, HIM might be lucky to shoot there. Within Temptation shot there, but that's their territory anyways... I personally believe they'll shoot in the USA. Sadly, they'll sell out better if they release "Live in the USA" than "Live in Belgium" DVD. And Warner Bross is an American company, which gives me one more reason to belive they'll record one of the concerts from their forthcoming American tour. In any case, it's a great fact Warner Bross wants them to make a DVD. I hope it will live up to LMA Vol. I. *fingers crossed*

Ok, I'm currently at 84%. If any of you are wondering what the audio and visuals are like here are some sound samples and screenshots. Sound is ok, and most of the video is decent, but there is some grain and pixel issues spread throughout the dvd.

Thanks so much for that linkit really made me laugh - miss heard lyrics are always good for making you smile.  By the way who is Steven Seagull and what does he have to do with Nightwish  ;D

Thats because there are no seeders right now. When n3v3rl4nd comes back online it will start again. I checked mine and it's a bitlord incomplete file so just waiting for n3v3rl4nd to seed again.

EDIT: he came back as I was typing this, but I'm barely getting 1 kb/s since there are so many leechers.

psssh Yeah RIGHT!
Steven Seagal could own your goldfish ANy day!

Hmm. Maybe your brain is not fully aware the tendencies of realism and a made believed world?
The guy simply is just a horrible actor who practiced martial arts. Have you ever seen him do anything out of character? No. Why? Because he is a one type of character.
Obviously you are that familiar much of a self indulged in horrible taste for icons if you believe a guy can really do something.

If HIM would do a live DVD it has to be a really special gig, the best one we have ever seen!

I'm thinking of something like they did in Madrid 2001. Ville playing acoustic in a song, Linde playing on that guitar with two heads and after every song they do a really cool and long extenden ending.

But it would be cool if they had some sorf of scene-show to.

Imagine the stage turning in to a graveyard with lots of fog floating on the ground. Something like that!

If they just make a ordinary show, why waste money on seeing something you allredy have seen hundreds of times. We want something new, something cool and dark. Something we have never seen HIM do before!
