Title: Love in cold blood
Post by: Jerry Lee on August 16, 2007, 07:42:58 PM
This is not the full song, but I figured since the single will be produced shortly, we could use this thread.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8cI4Y-CSsM
And not to mention, listen at 22 seconds in... you hear a stork noise. Ironic?

That's not a stork lol, that Ville screaming in the background... or whoever is doing those backing vocals.

Hehe.

It sounds like a stork noise. If you listen closely. As in "Play Dead"

Wait. What is this thread for? I'm confused.
Title: Re: Love in cold blood
Post by: Jerry Lee on August 16, 2007, 07:51:06 PM
Well.

There is one for the other songs that have officially released. This song will be fully released next/soon.

So why not?

Instead of flooding the Venus Doom thread, we can separate by songs, to make things a little more easier and convenient.

It's on the Kiss Of Dawn single that comes out on September 10th, but it's an acoustic version.

I'm excited about getting the acoustic version before the album version. And the stork noise. Hells yeah.

Passion's Killing Floor (Herpes Remix) lol

It doesn't show the track listing on amazon... it says "Product Description
2007 Release of the First Single from the Band's "Venus Doom" Album. The Title Song is Backed with a "Herpe Remix" of "Passion's Killing Floor"."
Title: Re: Love in cold blood
Post by: mereanus on August 17, 2007, 02:44:28 AM
That's the one. The other one that's on their is that Finnish one with Venus Doom on it.
Title: Re: Love in cold blood
Post by: Inferno on August 17, 2007, 02:48:56 AM
it says right on the description "The Title Song is Backed with a "Herpe Remix" of "Passion's Killing Floor". Which means it's only Kiss of Dawn and Passion's Killing Floor.

They have it on Amazon.de

OMG DOUBLE POST!11!!1
lulz

I'm checking out Recordstore, and they have all three versions listed (as they have for awhile), but now the cover and tracklistings are up and there's no Love In Cold Blood on the CD version - only on one of the vinyls. It's bullshit if that's the case.

It took him 8 years to make a song equal to It's all tears unplugged from the Join me single. By far the best .......

Anyone have any idea of what kinda pedal linde is using at the beginning, cause i'm a guitarist and don't think its guitar, but i've heard it is.
I reckon its keyboards. Anyone can help it'd be much appreciated.
xx

Title: Re: Love in cold blood
Post by: Jack Sparrow on November 27, 2007, 07:53:42 AM

mmmm I think its some kind of messed up Filter effect with an Uni-V effect and a little flange.    It also could be the guitar passed through a synth like the Roland VG-88.  Not so sure...
Title: Re: Love in cold blood
Post by: Carru on November 27, 2007, 11:32:46 AM
Well i've got pics of lindes pedal board, i was onstage before a show october 2005.
and its probably one of the most extensive pedal boards ever.
but yeah I was thinking about some flange based cocktail of pedals.
thanks very much jacksparrow

Anytime   ;)

You know that would be interesting to hear a live version of that song.

Title: Re: Love in cold blood
Post by: Carru on November 28, 2007, 07:48:22 PM
well yeah, normally the songs with messed up guitars and stuff don't normally get played I.e. buried alive by love solo, I'd love to hear that played in the same tone and effects as the record, its more acousticy and bluesy than live.
Title: Re: Love in cold blood
Post by: Jack Sparrow on November 29, 2007, 07:29:59 AM
Yeah,  they usually tend to tweak the distortions to hear a little more heavier live, also the solos most of the times are never played the same way like in the record,  always improvising.      Maybe they could play it like in an acoustic set with only Ville with a guitar.   The most hard part I think to perform this song live for them would be the various layers of voice lines in the choruses but with an extra effort from Burton and Mige I think they could pull a great live version of LICB.

O definately, without a doubt, HIM have become a bit lazier live,
compared to a show like berlin arena in 2000, Yeah completely lazy now.
they need to bring back solo like that. Linde's live playing is drowned in wah
so you dont really get much of it, just the wah crying. But with daniel lioneye,
the record was amazing, and then he even got that guitar sound live also.

Nothing to do with drugs or alcohol at all, just don't seemed to be bothered with
their stage presence. fair enough ville's vocals are coming back, slowly, but they're coming back. but we've gone totally off topic.
it'd be kool if they bring that song to their set, it'd nice to see how it gets done

i prefer back in 1998-1999 live, voice was much heavier. but yeah his voice is pretty kick ass again.....the only time it sucked was just after dark light came out when he was spending more time in america. cause the rock am ring 2005 show, his voice was smoking, then it went down hill.

And why adding almost 20 seconds of rain if it's a radio edit

You can post anything in the media section as long as it is not official stuff. Most users frown on that kind of thing

Sorry to  backtrack a LOT but where on earth in Play Dead is there a stork sound?

It sounds like a stork noise. If you listen closely. As in "Play Dead"

A moth into a butterfly
And a lie into the sweetest truth
I'm so afraid of life

*stork noise at around 0:54*

I try to call your name but I'm
Silenced by the fear of dying
In your heart once again

*stork noise at around 1:07*

I believe the subtle moans heard in the background are the supposed stork sounds. :)
