Most of the people that come here on almost a daily basis have been around since the creation of the page or, at the very least, a few years. We may not talk much about ourselves personally, but it's to be expected from a fan site since we can already guess the things we have in common lol. These forums used to be more lively and more personal back in the day, but the people that helped keep the discussions and banter alive seemed to have moved on... Jerry Lee, ZomB (Betsy), and Jambo are a few that come to mind.

A younger fan (because apparently to those on here a lot of the community is "Ville obsessed middle aged women..." and fairly new to having HIM as my favorite band as well. My previous favorites were Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold. I still like those groups a lot but then I discovered Coheed and Cambria, CKY, Poets of the Fall, and other Finnish music and then all of a sudden I barely listen to them anymore. It was kind of funny to me because I guess technically I've been a HIM fan since I was 13 and for some odd reason even though I always liked them I had never completely looked into them. So it took seven years for them to become my favorite band. One day I was just super depressed and bored and wanted to listen to WOAB (that song that sold me on them at 13) when it finished playing I realized I didn't feel like listening to anything else or repeating WOAB. I ended up clicking on the Youtube vid for The Funeral of Hearts and replaying that all day. After that I just couldn't get enough of HIM related anything. As a normally depressive person it isn't usually very common for me to have so much enthusiasm about anything. Discovering I had so much and nobody who understood it was very frustrating. Maybe there is a remedy for that here. Although I will openly admit I fall under the Ville obsessed category, I have a pretty good lid on it around people who aren't. I am kind of a shy person so it took me some time to even be able to admit it to myself! lol Like,"Noooooooo! I thought I got over this celeb interest thing!" My last being Orlando Bloom.
its always good to have a new and ACTIVE blood , this used to be very nice active forum, but as the ages went and when FB came all the forums died, or survived mostly inactive. Here it is active when it comes to something new, cool and then its quiet. We have also the evergreen members that are still active , daily replying or visiting, and then we have just inactive members. i dont have a facebook and i am active just here as i consider this forum as the best "HIM world". It would be nice to have once active and pretty alive forum back, but i think all the facebook fan sites ruined the magic of this forum. Or just the fans stopped visiting because they stopped liking that band much and they dont have time. who knows...In the other hand this is intenational forum, there you will find HIM fans from all over the world, seriously. Of course most of them are inactive or they are just visiting, reading, but not replying and commenting. There are also some forums based on just national basis - there is some French HIM forum, russian HIM forums, Belarus HIM forum and many many more! And they dont know about us, they talk in their language on their forum and they live in smaller HIM world, this is forum that is in English, everyone speaks English - native English speaking countries or "amateur" homelearnt English speaking members as me for example :-D When someone just cant speak or cant understand, they just dont comment but we have the best HIM aces of stuff in here, really nice media section (that i must refill i guess :-D)
We all have our inner demons, and we've all chosen to make HIM one of our favorite bands and touch our lives in different ways. I'd like to think that my situation is similar to yours. I'm not a very openly depressive person, but for me it's a bit odd... I'd rather feel sad, depressive emotions, or that feeling of "wanting" than happy when it comes to music. I like to know that I can still "feel" those things and I like to think it makes me stronger and more prepared on how to deal with things when the world comes crashing down on me personally. There's music I listen to for nostalgic reasons, like music I grew up to, and then there's music that I listen to because they have affected me personally... HIM falls into both of those. There's other bands that have achieved this level too such as Sentenced, Sonata Arctica, and a little more recently Blue October. The first two bands are Finnish as well. I encourage you to give those a listen too... If you're like me, you'll be glad you did. I can give you a few suggestions:Sentenced:The Rain Comes Falling DownKilling Me Killing YouAika Multaa Muistot (Everything Is Nothing)Sonata Arctica:Last Drop FallsTallulahMy SeleneWhite Pearl, Black Oceans^These guys make all their songs little stories and there's a couple that are all linked together. There's Wildfire parts 1-3 and then the Caleb series (Caleb, The End Of This Chapter, Don't Say A Word, Juliet)Blue October:Chameleon BoyCongratulations18th Floor BalconyWeight Of The WorldLight You Up& Pretty much everything from the "Any Man in America" album which was about his divorce... some pretty heavy stuff.

I listen to HIM (obviously =) ) The 69 Eyes, Poisonblack (mostly just the Escapexstacy album), Amorphis, Nightwish, Tarot, The Rasmus, Apocolyptica, and the previously mentioned Poets of the Fall. I think I may have tried Sonata Arctica. But it can't hurt to try them again with specific songs instead of what my Pandora randomly selected. Never heard of Sentenced but I like those song titles and will look those up. I don't listen to songs in Finnish much 'cause I only know some super basic words but I like the stuff Ville did with The Agents.
It's funny that you mention Poisonblack... you may notice a familiar "voice" while listening to Sentenced Charon is another good band... Now this is really funny because if you're familiar at all with Poisonblack's first album with a different singer, you'll find another familiar "voice" while listening to Charon. Unfortunately, like Sentenced, they have broken up.
Just for funsies. About a year or so ago we changed it to Suck/Fuck.

It's a reputation system which by default was Applaud/Smite, but we changed it to Suck/Fuck. Basically if you want to thank someone for doing something then you Applaud/Suck, if you want to do the opposite then you Smite/Fuck.
If it were anywhere I could find it I wouldn't be asking. I cannot find an option for that. Where is it? Could it be because of the site template I'm using?

If you want to actually applaud or smite anybody, what I meant was where is the option to do so?

Could be a permissions thing... Maybe you need a certain amount of posts first.
I can help with that... *pushes magic button*
