Post by: 6_6_6 on June 09, 2005, 02:36:35 AM
Yeh but when HIM come to the US its going to be a standard tour which probably means it will be the same old boring setlist with a few of the new Album songs whereas by the sounds of it this could be an album promo gig :D

Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: hearta_gram on June 09, 2005, 12:16:24 PM
I guess they will play more songs as I guess it will be the one week promotion tour in London... I think there will come a few more gig`s after this one... and before or after this they will have some promotion gig`s at Circus Krone in Munich.... But let`s see...

I never thought of that ;D
maybe i'm just paranoid..I think everyone knows something I don't.
I reckon shays probably right you know it'll most likely be the same setlist with 3 new songs randomly thrown in for good measure just to keep us all interested.
Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: .Suicide.Of.Love. on June 09, 2005, 01:29:49 PM
Ah well who knows it sounds intriging though, don't you think? I'm hoping I can get tickets. *crosses fingers* still, even with a boring setlist it would rock.

Thanks, I never knew what his studio was called. Now if I can just get back to Amsterdamage.  And they have several days betten each gig so they should all sound awesome! I'm envious of all the euro's out there.

I have my ticket for Amsterdam  ;D

Chapacity:

Amsterdam Paradiso: ?

...

I'm sorry I can't find the capacity of paradiso, but I will ask around.

Paradiso is Amsterdam’s temple of modern music is set in a former church and has the best acoustics and ambience in the city. And is Amsterdam's biggest podium

I don't think that Paradiso has a big capacity.

EDIT: it is called a "cozy old church"

EDIT2: I emailed Paradiso and the capacity is 1400

The view from Level 3 seems to be pretty damn good, and its only a 2,000 person capacity venue which makes it less then half the size of the Hammersmith Apollo.

I think we're in for a good night.
Did anyone see this shit? I googled Level 1 seating to try get a seating plan and got this:

Rumour has it the Shepherd's Bush Empire is haunted. At the turn of the century a young man who worked at the venue fell through the domed roof to his death and is said to roam the Level 1 balcony at night!

Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: robertzombie on June 14, 2005, 01:11:57 PM
There isn't a level 3. only Standing, Level 1, Level 2. I am on level 1, looks fucking awesome! i wanna sit on one of the corners so i am closer to the stage, although sitting directly in the middle would also be brilliant!
Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Gemma on June 14, 2005, 01:19:29 PM
from the Sheperds Bush empire Official site:

TYPE OF TICKETS

STALLS STANDING - Ground floor standing area (stage level)
LEVEL 1 UNRESERVED SEATS/STANDING
LEVEL 2 UNRESERVED SEATS/STANDING
LEVEL 3 UNRESERVED SEATS/STANDING
All balconies are mainly seated (first come first serve basis) although there is some standing available.

It doesn't look like level 3 is a seperate Balcony they'res 1 & 2 and like a free standing section at the back of level 2 which I assume to be 3.
I'm On Level 1 as well, Hopefully i'll be able to get a decent view, Its all first come first served isn't it?

There will be new merch coz the tour is like 1 week before the album release. They'll probably be t-shirts with the cover on them and posters, and they'll also might be free promo stickers and stuff.

Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Pure Fing Sweetness on June 19, 2005, 01:22:15 PM
The one before cathedral on Halloween was good. I totally forgot their name (shay might remember).  The usually have unique bands open for them (I.E. Captured By Robots) who I loved!  For the most part, Cathedral has been the only opening band I didn't like.

Post by: Pure Fing Sweetness on June 19, 2005, 01:32:26 PM
ya, KH was and I liked them.  They were probably the nicest guys ever and played well live. (I think I like them better live then on their album)

It was something like that Dan. I have a couple of their buttons somewhere....Esoteric? Nah, that can't be right....hmmm

An all girl group called Mab opened before Cathedral on the 30th.  Was that who were there on Halloween too?  I liked them - Cathedral sucked monkey butt, however.

No, it was all guys (from what I could tell from the balcony).  They were kinda cute too (again, from what I could tell). Man, I really liked them and just never got around to looking them up and getting some of their songs.

Yeh they were all guys i really cant remeber there name it was something wierd. If i remember rightly they were a kind of cross between Korn and Disturbed. I thought they were fucking awsome. HIM tend to pick good supports for their gigs.

I'm going to London and it's costing me £227.05 for:

Return flights from Edinburgh to London
1 Night accommodation in a premier Travel in
1 HIM Ticket (because I am in a wheelchair my "carer" goes for free)

I am lucky to be going coz when I phoned to book the tickets (despite mentioning the date of the gig) they booked tickets for HEM instead of HIM.  Anyway I recieved a msg on phone on 22 June saying tht I could collect tickets when I went to the gig tht night - tht's how I found out about the mistake (how they could mistake 19 Sept for 22 June I'll never know).

Luckily for me all venues hold so many tickets back so I got my tickets for HEM refunded and exchanged for HIM ones  ;D

It seems that the competition for hamburg is online... You have to listen to a German radio station and call them when you hear ville on the radio... after that they will ask you a question...

The concert will be on a secret place in a castle and just for 100 N-joy winners... (radio station is called N-joy)

I would pay anything within reason to see HIM - the cost ain't tht bad cosidering tht icl flights, accommodation and ticket.

Cathedral is more of a Cd Band, if not the least I could say about them.
Viking Skull has had a better success with their live performances for a while now and their music is much better.
Hahahaha, I would never think nor compare HIM and Entwine better yet see them in the same stage together. ;)

But we all know who will be the first one to get the cavity search in the Airport first ..... ME!
But once you reach European soil, you are going to be the first one to get the cavity search in Euro Airports in Barcelona!
hehehe. (Its half true honestly).

Ive just come back from Spain, the people don't seem like they would like HIM.
Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Tauriainen on August 03, 2005, 05:37:09 AM
Uhm I have maybe a good full Disk of just alone HIM Interviews that were done in Spain from the DSBH era and maybe three or four from the R.R. till this day.
They are well known for the Goffik kids that are into European Rock. There are even some Iberian interviews with the guys that were done in Barcelona.

HIM at one point tried to be compared to a band, that very few Americans, Brittish (all together) have not heard of. Heroes Del Silencio. Mige and Ville have heard of them, but as they mentioned they cant fill those big shoes that band left behind. (Mige wore a nHDS shirt for the US Tour that someone gave to him from Spain).

Again HIM is underground in certain countries. But album sales are good if you look back upon their little achievement in that country itself.
For example, Apocalyptica is worshiped in Mexico. Why? Who knows. But they have the energy to get the crowd going.

Also depends where you are located, you do have to realize that the culture itself is very thick into their roots. You have to look for those specific areas to find their stuff and fands as well.

first born / family sized box of jaffa cakes/ teapot & 2000 tea bags / used rubber ring / German Art student.

thats my final offer.
I'd bring my camera to record a song or so with video but the quality of my camera is so pish poor I dunno if its worth it.

I hope someone gets something cause Im still looking for Audio or video from Halloween last year! something from this gig would be nice as I usually get a dvd of the HIM gigs I've been too...I need to buff up my collection.

Anyway we got there about 5pm and the queue was already around the corner of another road by a blue pub that I can't remember the name of.

I sat and cracked open a beer.... And ate a double Cheeseburger from Mcdonalds. The suprising thing were there was absolutley no Bamtards!
They all seemed pretty cool people. there were few dicks as always expected. the other suprising thing was there were so many Trendy People.. sorry you Amercians that dont know that that is.

Oh and I pissed up a wall that Ville walked past.

Yeah about twenty to Seven this bad ass merc pulled up and I was in the right place at the right time. About 2ft away out jumps Seppo, Ville some Blonde chick and this bad ass secruity guard. nobody noticed untill I shouted "Ville!" and he turned around and smiled. he was wearing a blue, denim jacket and jeans.
Then loads of gay people in the queue noticed and started screaming and breaking down like little girls. then he didn't stick around to get raped, insted he opted to go inside and get ready.

Soon after the show started and the venue was very small indeed. I was four rows from the front on the far right hand side.

Anathema were the support band.. they fucking sucked.

The new Dark light background it shit. Its projected onto a white screen and it looks so tacky compared to the giant badass Metal one.
they also projected moving images like bats and stuff on the screen it was weird.

Ville wore basic Black trousers shirt and waistcoat during the performance. he interacted with the crowd quite well talking to them and posing for pictures real close like leaning over the stage and shit. Fair play to the guy.

Lindes hair is fucking long now and he played his White Sg.

Gas is still bald and played the (H)-(I)-(M) kit

Burton has a cool beard and wore a white wife beater vest.

the setlist was something like :

Vampire Heart
Poisen Heart
In Joy And Sorrow
Right Here In My Arms
Killing Lonliness  ( I love this song )
Buried Alive By Love
Your Sweet 666
It's All Tears ( they played it diffrent though
Join Me
Wicked Game
Razorblade Kiss
Heartache Every Moment
Soul On Fire
Wings Of A Butterfly

Some I cant remember and I know thats not exact but near enough

After the show Ville went to the Cro Bar. thats all I know..

Thanks if you read all that, it took me ages.

The gig was ace  ;D I'm so glad I went - I had the best fucking view I have ever had at a major gig.  I was only bout 40ft away from the stage.  Anathema were tonnes better than Cathedral (they even finished their set with a Pink Flloyd song).

Ville was looking fucking seeeeeeeexy as usual - even more so with the great view I had.  They played a good mix of songs altho I was expecting maybe a few more songs from the Dark Light album - but maybe they're saving tht for January (roll on 19th January  ;D Carling Academy Glasgow here I come!!)

Just like to add tht it was great to meet u Shay  ;D

EDIT: My pics didn't really come out tht well but I have giving my memory card to my dad and he's gonna c what he can do with them so I will post any good ones when I get them back.

The merch wasn't up to much - just t shirts from what I could see but I wouldn't say it was expensive it was £18 & £20 for t shirt now tht's not bad coz I have paid £25 - £30 for a tour t before so to me tht was the price i was expecting.

Shepards Bush 19.09.05

Okay so heres my take ont he gig.

Me Dan666 his girlfriend and my girlfriend all set off in the car to london at about 3pm listening to Dark Light on the way down on a personal cd player since my dads car cd player got stolen 2 days before.

We got to Shepards Bush at about 5.45 and were just around the corner from the gig (outside a pub which I also cant remember what it is called).

Anyway I signed up for apparently a new offical HIM mailing list and then we just waited for about half an hour outside the pub looking at everyones different HIM shirts. I spotted a GLSV666 tour shirt!

6.30pm the reapers started handing out the fliers. I managed to swipe 8! I wish i could of swiped more but they were pretty careful they didn't give to many to one person.

(Becky, Dan, Char)

6.45 Dan said to me while we were all taking photos of eachother in the queue 'haha look at that mercedes its blocking the road and everyones beeping at it.' Little did we know that 5 minites later screams and flocks of people were running to the alley way that the car went down to get a look of Seppo and Ville who had just got out of the car!

Ville's Merc
7.10 The queue was finally starting to move. The gig was about to begin!

7.35 roughly the support band Anathema started playing their first song as we entered the venue. We got as far to the front as we could. I thought they weren't bad. They were kinda emo/blues/indie i suppose. Atleast the crowd were pretty respectful to them and they didnt get booed or bottled.

8.45 and everyone was inside. We had standing and were about 5 people from the barriers. HIM were going to come on stage opening with Vampire Heart in 15 minutes. We got chatting to a tall scandinavian guy and another guy in a black hat and who had seen HIM 6 times. I was talking to them about Dark Light and he was telling us about the Golden Gods 2004 that he went to.

9.00 HIM entered the stage to a masive raw and a pretty crap back drop. It was all projected shit and was quite difficult to see apart from the heartagram. First song was a shocker. I don't know anyone that was expecting them to open with one of their new songs but it worked great. Vampire Heart works awsomely.

5 Songs into the gig me and my girlfriend had to leave Dan and char at the front because my girlfriend was finding it all a little to intense and she needed a drink. But pretty soon Wicked Game was played which she loves so we rushed back to the front and found dan and char again.

Ville's voice sounded pretty good throughout the gig. Slightly rough at first but he soon got it right. The gig was absolutly awsome and it was made really special. Killing Lonliness live sounds awsome and Ville did the 'special' vocal ending for it.

10.35 and HIM go off for a quick piss and Burton is the first back onstage. He comes to the mic but I couldn't hear what he was saying and I thought I had heard Plasma Mullet. I nearly shat my self until he went to the keyboard and played the intro to The Sacrament  :'(

I didn't think The Sacrament was a good song to end the gig on. I perfer it when they play a heavier song such as Soul On Fire or Burried Alive By Love.

10.40 and HIM were gone. The gig over. And everyone heading for the exit. I stayed behind because char need to look for her lip ring that she had lost so i waited by the stage and managed to score a setlist.  I was amazed at how obsessed people can be though. There were girls beging the security Guards to pass a fag but on the stage.

The funniest thing i saw however was when one of the crew passed out a handwritten setlist (Mige's) and two girls tried to grab it at the same time and it ended up ripping in half.

10.45 Char found her lip ring and we headed to the merch stall so dan could get a shirt. And then left.

A Great Night. A great Gig.

The setlist is something like:
Vampire Heart
Buried Alive By Love
It's All Tears
Join Me
Wicked Game
The Sacrament
Heartache Every Moment
In Joy And Sorrow
Right Here In My Arms
Soul On Fire
Wings Of A Butterfly
Killing Loneliness
Your Sweet 666
Razorblade Kiss
Poison Heart
Poison Girl
Funeral of Hearts

Songs they did the European tour, but they don't play all that songs in one gig, but at least they have played these songs
So 4 new songs

I'm going to see HIM in 20 hours!
Bye, see you guys later

Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: .Suicide.Of.Love. on September 30, 2005, 11:42:54 AM
It would be good if they did add more dates but if they do and we got tickets to another date it would be annoying b ecause there's one that closer.

But you can't wait around too long, if not tickets will go.

I doubt they'll add more, the fact they re-added dates in the same venues kinda gives it away that thats the places they wanna do.

I really don't know. They said they didn't want to be doing to big venue's and that they would rather just stay in the city for two nights and do two gigs there but I dont know what type of venues eaxctly. I would of thought the usual. (More or less the same as the 2004 tours)

Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Gemma on October 09, 2005, 03:51:24 PM
1 - HIM are no where near big enough to play wembley,  its strictly reserved for people who are actually moderatly successful on british soil, [eg:coldplay, Westlife, U2]

2 - as to bother to watch any band play at wembley you as may stay at home cause for the view you'd get it wouldn't be worth it.

Yeah it'd be great for the band cause big venues = big bucks.
But for you the fan its terrible cause not only does that venue have shit sound but you'll go home wishing you hadn't bothered going to begin with after you get physically abused by 1000 goths in love with Ville valo and villes ----- that big in your line of vision cause your sitting 15 million miles from the stage.

Ignore me I have major issues with Wembley, its a massive chip on my shoulder.

Mr. Valo has mentioned in various finnish music magazines that after the German/Switzerland/Austria mini-tour they`ll go back to the states in spring and then to Australia and New Zealand. In one interview he told that Dark light tour will cover virtually every European country, so we might expect more european dates announced later. However, Ville can be a bit inconsistent with his mouth, he has alo mentioned that Continental Europe doesn´t play that big role in the bands plans and that they will concentrate more on Britain and US.

HIM is now on an American Label, and we got all the goods (ie: Internet Edition, and etc) so I mean I can see where they're focused around it.

I really do think they will come back in spring, and play maybe a month tour.

Where abouts were you, and what were you recording with? I was right at the side next to security, and i recorded clips of songs with my digital camera with no trouble.
I think the hardest thing will be to get the recording device through the security checks when you enter the building... i'm nervous about that, having never recorded a show before. after that, just clip a mic to your clothes, set it recording, and enjoy the show.  :)

I'm not sure, but if the news about the cancelled gigs came out in public saturday (night), then the management of HIM most contact the concert-hall, then they must update their website, and I guess that takes time, especially on sunday, when the webmaster is at home for the weekend.

What I try to say, I guess it will on the websites on working days, so tomorrow or Tuesday.

And I hope that Linde will get well very soon

My brother is absolutely raving, He was getting all excited for his first gig... But somethings obviously can't be helped its not like he did it intentionally and I'm sure Linde is as upset as everyone else, I'm just pleased I haven't had to invest money in travel fares or on accomodation like some [sorry marc <3 ]

The Brixton Academy obviously haven't had a chance to update their listings yet as the HIM show is right at the top of the page, I'm happy I actually bothered to even look in here cause had I not I probably would have got to Brixton before I found out about the cancellations. still a fucking shame though and now I have to deal with a ten year old crying his eyes out too.   :(

thing is, what are people without the internet supposed to know, i mean word of mouth can't travel to anybody, my guess is Anathema might just headline gigs, but i doubt that.
Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Gemma on January 08, 2006, 06:10:35 PM
thats exactly what I'm thinking, considering that even most of us with internet connections are still basically in the dark with no official word or venue updates, I know full well people travel from all over the world to see them play [ I bumped into someone from Helsinki at the Halloween gig 04] can you imagine how unbelievably pissed off you'd be if you'd travelled from overseas and didn't know? my guess is that if you booked tickets via the phone they'll inform you via the phone same as I would have assumed once the ticket boxoffices know everyone who booked via the internet should be getting emails.
Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Marc on January 08, 2006, 06:24:26 PM

I've always either booked mine over the computer or phone, don't they ask you for a contact number when you buy them from outlets? I would have thought they asked you for a contact number in case something goes wrong..such as this.  :-\

Thats fucked up, they should at least have some kind of contingency plan incase the guitarist decides to go "break" himself.

Theres going to be many a pissed off HIM fan baying for blood stalking the streets of Brixton this month. thank fuck for the internet is all I can say, it might not save everyone from a pain in the arse but its certainly helped a few of us.  :-\

chances are all the Venues websits will be updated tomorrow, cause ticketmaster.ie & mcd.ie still have the gigs listed.
Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Gemma on January 08, 2006, 06:48:44 PM
Vast majority of the time whenever you phone up the venue they have little or no clue as to whats going on anyway, or they put you on hold to listen to Greensleeves for half an hour before you get someone called Tristan who sounds like he's twelve and knows absolutely jack shit about anything. [I'm not bitter..oh noes]

I'm going to give Brixton a bell on Tuesday if theres no update tomorrow. but I doubt they'll tell me anything. but its worth a try I suppose. its so bloody annoying fair enough if its cancelled whatever but you would have thought Heartagram.com would be workign overtime to let everyone know.

*le sigh*

So with the tour being resheduled(SP) for April in the UK now anyone think they may turn this into a full UK tour and not just some major city dates. I mean its pretty annoying for me becasue I live in the South West of England which means I have to travel quite far considering all the venues are a fair distance away. I don't mind traveling every now and then to see bands in London or wherever but i've been doing it for a few bands recently and will be in the future so its just anoying me if this is all they are doing for a UK tour.

HIM reschedule UK and Ireland tour
The band's guitarist fractures his wrist
H.I.M have been forced to reschedule their UK and Irish tour after the band's guitarist fractured his wrist.

The group were due to kick off the dates at the Dublin Ambassador on January 16 but band member Linde will now have to wear a cast until the end of the month. The jaunt has been rearranged for April.

Tickets for the original shows will be valid for the rescheduled dates and all subsequent shows in Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand are set to go ahead as originally planned.

H.I.M will now play:

Manchester Apollo (April 18-19)
Birmingham Academy (20-21)
Glasgow Academy (23)
Newcastle Academy (24)
London Brixton Academy (25)
Dublin Ambassador (27-28)

The next single to be taken from H.I.M's fifth studio album 'Dark Light' will be 'Killing Loneliness', which is due to hit the shops on January 23.

Kind of odd considering that NME has always made a point about them being not cool enough for their trend-seeking musical equivalent of a tabloid (sorry, but after reading the mag for about a two years I finally got fed up with them with all this Arctic Monkeys hype).
Title: Re: European Tour

The website pretty much covers anything [chris Martin passes wind NME Know first] wheras the magazine is more selective, technically they do give HIM some coverage in Album rewiews and single reviews etc. Recently I have noticed them giving My Chemical Romance more of a nod and Funeral for a friend, but HIM get increasingly cringe worthy reviews, I read the letters page a few weeks back and some twat in Bristol was bitching "We don't want to read about stupid goth bands, if there fans want to know about them then they should read kerrang! or some shit" haha.wtf?

I am an avid buyer of NME purely because I like the pretty pictures, the content lacks both imagination and any real journalism quality, I buy it flick through the 70903647 pages telling me why I should love the arctic monkeys, see If The Cribs or The Rakes are in it and if they aren't I don't buy it.

for a magazine that claims to be "NEW musical express" their hardcore fanbase seem pretty dead set against any new music that doesn't agree with their pallette, if you don't play indie and you don't have fabulous indie hair you aren't getting in. simple as.

For the record though I agree wholeheartedly with their rather cringe worthy review of the new HIM single. cause every word was unfortunatly true and it made me ashamed to admit to being a HIM fan.

Yes, they are monotonic in the music they appreciate. I think it's quite amusing that whereas it's ok to be influenced by the '80's, they've decided it's only cool if it's the "New Wave" side of it. Though i must admit that sometimes HIM does sound a bit too '80's hard rock to my ear.

Are you referring to the Vampire heart review? I haven't flipped through the latest issues, it takes a while before they reach my home country(Finland). I don't really know what to make of the song, but I disliked the review because it much concentrated on Ville's appearances, not the song itself. Though I did ran an internet search for recent pictures of his hair  :-[ - didn't seem like he was balding to me.. But I'm happy that Q, who may not be "cutting edge" or anything, but certainly good journalism and my fave music mag, gave them 4 stars. I know it should't matter what critics say..but it does, when you like a band. Maybe HIM should take an ad like Deep Purple did in the '70's: Q:4/5, Metal Hammer 8/10, Kerrang 8/10, Outburn 10/10  "With friends like these, who needs NME's?"

What's with this wig stuff??? I think that's just ridiculous, if he wanted the hair longer, he at tops got hair extensions..I seriously doubt he would wear a wig..geez.

As for the Killing Loneliness video, I'm not loving it, but I see it as a humorous comment how women lust after Ville.. but maybe the public doesn't see it that way.

...will Linde and the rest have their hands and voices insured against injury? I don't know if it's always the case, so was wondering about it.

you are not allowed to tour in europe or america without insurance. individual insurance is on every member of the group AND the entourage, including liability. if for some instance, they did not appear as scheduled, without injury or illness, none of (3) forms of insurance would cover damages when the venue sued. so, if they don't want to show up somewhere, or cannot show up, for whatever reason, somebody will be "ill" or "break an arm." they will never just "reschedule."

Well that maybe the case from smaller bands and the most important venues, but I do believe it is rather easy for a band to cancel without there being any consequences. For example, every year we here in Finland are let down when during the summer festival season two or three major bands ALWAYS cancel -it's the bands' market really, there are so many takers across Europe that the festival promoters have to settle for whatever contracts possible.

it's the other way around. you recall the scene when cobain wanted out of the last tour...this is big business, these venues pay publishing royalties in advance, in bulk, for all songs performed at shows. the contracts are in place to protect the venue, or else any band could just say, we'll be there -- maybe. and, as you say, if it's a band's market, that paperwork is all the more important. any booking agent, like JAM, is not going to settle at a loss. sometimes major bands cancel at festivals cause they're canceling tours, cause they don't sell. like billy corgan went home from europe when he didn't sell. the ticket sales under performed and the promoter initiated what's called a kill fee.

sylvie here in america its completly different then europe. i agree with this time as its the same issue in mexico if a band/performer does not have a legit reason for cancelling then its court time.

I don't know how it works in the US but that is how it works over here. We're lucky to get a few world-class performers here a year, they just usually do Sweden and/or Denmark and skip us. The festival promoters have discussed the problem with cancelling bands in newspapers and say they can't really do anything about it as it's difficult enough to get them play here in the first place. I assume it's the same with other small (European) countries as well. I wish it was like it is in the US here also, for example several years back I was at Ruisrock(a festival in Finland; HIM played there last summer also) and Oasis was supposed to play. Noel decided he wasn't up for it and I witnessed Liam and three random musicians playing Oasis songs(the original members had long ago walked out or been fired :-\). That actually almost ruined the festival financially (kind of sad considering it is the 2nd oldest festival in Europe).

Nah my HIM tickets are currently on Ebay, I've seen them 4 times already so It wont hurt me too much to let this gig go and see Panic! instead, Plus the more I think about all those sqealing 14 year old teenyboppers the more excited I get, think of all those little heads I can accidently 'pop' open.

I only bought them to placate my screaming brother to begin with, now he's informed me He wants to go to see another band anyway so We're going to see the Rakes instead. because they pwn. muchly.

Also scheduled to appear are BECK, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, THE FLAMING LIPS, THE SHINS, BEN HARPER, ARCTIC MONKEYS and MATISYAHU, among others, according to Billboard.com. You can read some reviews from the German tour on HIMForFans.de (http://www.himforfans.de/html/body_german_tour_2006.html)

And apparently they played Frozen as last song.
Hope there will be a recording of that

Encore:
15. Funeral of Hearts
16. Poison Heart
17. Frozen (Cover from Madonna)

I will be recording the Brixton show, so if they play it there it will be recorded! Is frozen a well-known madonna song? I have never heard of it.

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this, but it's tour related. Does anyone know if HIM have performed all the songs from dark light live? I would like to see the title track and play dead at the Brixton show...
Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Harker on April 20, 2006, 10:54:14 AM
The Dark Light songs they played live:
Vampire Heart
Wings of a Butterfly
Under the Rose
Killing Loneliness
Behind the Crimson Door
Play Dead

Not played live (yet):
Dark Light
The Face of God
Drunk on Shadows
In the Night Side of Eden
Venus (In Our Blood)
The Cage

I think they will play play Dead at the Brixton show, but not Dark Light.

I can't find a setlist from the last gigs, but I guess you will get this 5 Dark Light songs:

Vampire Heart
Wings of a Butterfly
Under the Rose
Killing Loneliness
Play Dead

Title: Re: European Tour
Post by: Harker on April 20, 2006, 01:04:54 PM
The most recent setlist I found was the one from Sydney.
A month ago, and 5 gigs since that gig. And maybe they have a slightly different setlist for the UK

Wings Of A Butterfly
Right Here In My Arms
Soul On Fire
Wicked Game
Under The Rose
Join Me (In Death)
Its All Tears (Drown In This Love)
Killing Loneliness
Razorblade Kiss
Play Dead
Your Sweet Six Six Six
Vampire Heart
Poison Girl
Buried Alive By Love
The Sacrament
Poison Heart
Black Sabbath / Frozen

Yeah, they could knock a couple of old songs off the setlist (do we really need wicked game, a cover song, every show?) to make room for more dark light songs. Maybe they just don't come over well live...

I don't mean to argue... but may i ask why?  :) Just that it's been a part of HIM's live set since they started... isn't it time for a change?

I'm glad you like it. Here's the article from EXIT's official site (exitfest.org)

Girls dressed according to the code, girls in trance, girls with tears rolling down their cheeks, hysterical girls, girls on stretchers, girls losing consciousness, en masse. Can you believe it? His Infernal Majesty, HIM, arrived here on time to trigger total delirium in a bunch of happy teenage girls and an occasional boyfriend.

Delirium was mainly caused by the band singer, Ville Valo, who seemed to be having some problems with his bones if his styling is anything to go by, especially his woollen cap. His eye makeup seemed to be leaking, too and he seemed to be tripping that he is a cross between Jim Morrison and Michael Hutchence.
The Finns, who started their career as a Black Sabbath cover band, brought gothic chandeliers to illustrate their dark story. Heartagram was there, too. Their fans thanked them by chorus singing culminating with the song "Wicked Game".  The feeling at that moment could be best described as emotional tsunami. People who had not understood why the 'sophisticated' Finns had won the Eurosong suddenly had a clear picture.
While the guys around Ville played their damnedest, people who knew nothing about HIM and who were there by chance were unsure if the band in front of them were indeed the winners of Eurosong.
It was interesting to note the latest phenomenon at HIM concert: mobiles and cameras glimmering in the air, recording timeless moments electronically but also obstructing true enjoyment of the concert.  Those who had a trip on the idol's looks, performance and singing, however, lit their lighters at the sweet numbers like "Sweet 16".

A friend of mine told me he had heard some rumors on a Metallica site, about HIM playing before Metallica at the Helsinki gig 14th July. That would mean they play friday, saturday and sunday.

But still just rumors...

HIM will play in Belgium!
7 July, an exclusive clubgig in Vaartkapoen in Brussels!
(7/7/7 :P)

These are the, already known, dates posted on the Heartagram forum.
July 08: WEMBLEY STADIUM, London, England
July 10: VALLE HOV, Oslo, Norway
July 12: STADIUM, Stockholm, Sweden
July 13: MILJOONA ROCK FESTIVAL
July 14: ILOSAARIROCK FESTIVAL
July 15: OLYMPIC STADIUM, Helsinki, Finland
July 18: LUZHNIKI, Moscow, Russia
July 27: USA tour starts

So I guess there will be some gigs in Germany and one in The Netherlands too before 7 July.

If not I will go to Belgium ;D

EDIT

It seems that we just have to wait for more dates, because HIM will also play at the Red Rock Festival in Luxemburg, 6 July 2007.

The gig at the Olympia Stadium in Helsinki was great in my opinion. Some lameass metallica posers (3) in their early fourteens had to give them the finger some times, to point out that they were so fucking cool and die hard Metallica fans, you know how it is :P

Burton gave the finger to Linde while he was playing a solo, wich I thought was pretty funny. I don't know if Linde did it on purpose , but when he was about to put his White SG up on his Laney speaker, he threw it over the speaker down on the floor. I think the guitar actually hit a soundguy who was standing behind the speaker.

Ville got a bit angry on the soundboardguy, after pointing several times to the guy showing him to put moe volume to his mic, he gave the guy the finger and looked a bit angry. That was about one of maby five times Ville opened his eyes during the gig. There wasn't much talk betveen the songs either.

The gig lasted 45min and 10 songs were played, wich of 3 where from the upcoming Venus Doom. I don't really remember the order of the songs but It could be something like this.

1. Dead Lovers Lane
2. Right Here in my Arms
3. Wings of a Butterfly
4. Soul on Fire
5. Kiss of Dawn
7. Vampire Heart
8. Passions Killing Floor
9. Join Me
10. It's All Tears

It's all Tears was my favoirte and I love them for playing it. I actually think they should have left out Join Me and played Burried Alive by Love instead. Wings of a Butterfly should have been Death is in Love Wiht Us, in my opinion.

Overall the gig was kick ass! Gas was really hot and played like hell, breaking his drumsticks all the time. Linde did kick ass solos and so did Burton in It's All Tears. Mige and Ville didn't do anything special, but Villes voice was really good.

The whole thing was really good and all three bands did a great job (Diablo, HIM, Metallica), a perfect night! I even got a Metallica pick.

Got some pretty good pics with my phone that I'm going to upload in the media section.

super review, thanks. do you think it's starting to be a routine, ville rolling his eyes about the sound? maybe its his way of endearing to the audience that he cares, or maybe it's intentional, so if you can't hear him, he can say its the sound guy's fault, not his. he always says the same thing over and over, tour after tour.

does anybody else think they look a lot older now? i don't mean like trying to be hard rock stars. they look kind of worn and torn. everybody gets on me if i say about ville's cosmetic surgery, but...i figured out what's bothering me now. it looks like, recently, they are trying to revamp him into jim morrison. look at the latter live pics. whereas the pics where he's sitting with his legs crossed, he looks like himself. it almost looks like two different people.

i think i put this in the wrong thread, it should go here, can you move it to the right picture thread, pls?
