According to Best Buy, yes, and it comes out in July. These CD's aren't that great, but they are somtimes interesting.

There is one for V.R., 'Tallica, and other bands too.
I have seen this, mostly it is done through the label. So nothing big is expected out of this, it would have been better if it an actual band. Not just guys who want to cover your shit.

In all truth the only group to pull off a group of covers on strings by a decent bad are Apocalyptica (With their "Plays Metallica with Four Cellos" album) but even then it wasn't that good. I have heard some pretty cool interpretations done by these sort of bands and musicians. The ones for A Perfect circle and Tool haven't been half bad. But they normally mimic the vocals with some string instrument. I think it would be funny to see a double bass do Ville's vocals :P anyways thats my 2 cents.

 it sounds pretty good, they did an excelent job on other things, but apocalyptica would be tight, but i dont think they would want to be a HIM cover band

The string tribute is rather simple in the sense that the higher strings just match Ville's voice.  Nice to hum along to though.

Apparently, the CD is now out. Best Buy, FYE and Amazon.com all show it is in stock and shipping. I might make a run for BB tonight to see if I can find one.

EDIT:
No such luck. Almost got into a gnarly wreck on the way there. Some idiot in a minivan slid into oncoming traffic and came within 3 feet of me, while I was doing 50, and they were doing nearly the same, but sideways. Lucky for me my brakes actually work halfway decent.
Anyways, ordered it from Best Buy.com, should be here on Wed or Thur.

Got the CD the other day.  I like the majority of the tracks on here except for Wings of a Butterfly, Join Me and In Joy and Sorrow.  Something about Wings that sounds off and the other two have been done to death with strings and remixes (just my opinion).

J.I.M. is pretty good too.  Towards the end it sounds like something people would march in to at a wedding.

I'm not a fan of these sorts of things, personally, so I probably wouldn't have bought it if I ran across it in a store.  They've always seemed cheesy to me.  I've always wanted to check out the Tool one, but never have.

I do like this one, so maybe it'll change my perspective.

I think that although Ville makes HIM what it is...
HIM would NOT be as good without the amazing music behind it all...
i think it would be awesome to hear a string quartet do a tribute which you wouldnt usually hear someone do!
it just shows that HIM's music reaches out to a wider audience than some people think!
