Title: My photography website
Post by: kellylugosisdead on April 05, 2016, 11:25:15 AM
Hello darlings!  ;D

As some of you may know, I'm a fine art/fashion photographer (by night...by day I'm just a mundane office worker). I'm working on building my portfolio website and wondered if anyone would like to give me some feedback?

I made a short preview video (still need to add blog posts and the remaining galleries) of what it looks like here:

Can you tell me if it looks professional, user-friendly, and if there's anything you feel is missing from it (aside from what I already said)? I'll definitely update this once the site is live, I'm just trying to make it the best I can before cutting the ribbon and launching it (at which point I will finally be able to submit things for magazine publication and so forth).

Thanks in advance!

Also, I should note, it was shot on my phone and stabilized with YT's video manager, so the photos look way nicer on the actual site. And in case it's unclear, the site colors are black, blood red, and gold.

Looks good to me. The only thing I think I would add is an "About" section to either talk about yourself or the type of photography you do and what you can offer.

Good catch, thank you! I hate writing about myself, but I know there needs to be a short bio section somewhere in there.

The last time I had a photography website, I was running a wedding/portrait business and went the easy route by having the site built for me, so I'm forgetting little things like that which need to be included.

Don't necessarily have to talk about yourself, but rather what it is, as a photographer, that you are good at and what particular work you look for and enjoy doing.

Great website! I love it! Looks pretty unique, memorable, but mysterious, really your style. By the way, I'm digging your photos. One little fan here ;) Good job! Keep up the amazing work!

Finally launched it last night, I see a couple of mistakes but I'll fix those when I get home today. Tell me what you think! :D

Thank you so much! That's my best friend Andrea, and she made those horns herself!  ;D The shoot was a ton of fun, walking around in costume (I wore my bat hoodie which was my Halloween costume last year) in a small Texas town at night, getting all sorts of interesting reactions.

No way she made it herself! These horns are sick! I want them badly!
